STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

  • + Dual Wield: Trained from young under the tutorship of several martial artists hailing from Atrisia, Erden is skilled in dual wielding, a sword fighting style created by Yovshin Swordsmen. His "Jar'Kat" consist of a primary lightsaber and a shorter version in his off hand. The short lightsaber gives him an advantage to continuing wield it when he moves in closer to his enemies who are hindered by their longer blades.?
  • + Scheming: One does not become the Dragon Head without the use of guile. Erden's rise in the Triad is due to a combination of ruthlessness and cunning. By outsmarting and planning ahead of his opponents, he is able to secure the most number of votes from the elders to become the chairman during the last election. He knows how to put on a mask to hide his true intentions.
  • + Network connections: Erden has connections with the police, politicians, businesses and other criminal organisations. In short, he knows both sides of the law and can play a game of hide and seek if necessary. Most of the time, he is occupied with networking and building relationships, leaving the daily criminal work to his subordinates.
  • + Immense Manpower: The Tian Di Society is created from the turmoils faced by Atrisians during the long periods of war. As peace slowly returns to Atrisia, the society has began expanding its outreach to the rest of the galaxy. Branches and halls are set up in many core worlds and cities, recruiting new members from all races to join the society for protection and power. In return, the Dragon Head can call upon thousands of members when the need ever arises.
  • + Shadow Economy: The Triad runs a series of shadowy and illegal businesses throughout the galaxy. Illegal gambling. Drug smuggling. Red light districts. As long as you can name them, the Triad has connections to them. To legalise their businesses, they also establish shell companies to serve as money laundering. Being the top of the food chain, Erden Tarkhan has access to immense wealth that can rival the Hutts.
  • - Suspicious: Erden is generally suspicious of people and has difficulty trusting others. To win the trust of the Dragon Head usually means the person has met and interacted with all the lower ranking captains in the Triad. Security is tight around Erden who is always accompanied by a few bodyguards, in case he is assassinated by a rival gang.
  • - Cold Blood: Rumours are abound that the Dragon Head has won the last chairman election by murdering his competition. One of them involved bribing his competitor's men. When some of them refused, Erden personally butchered them and chopped their bodies into pieces to feed the rancors. He generally feels no hesitation to use force when threats do not work to get his way.
  • - Superstitious: The Force is present in all living things, and some of them are considered especially lucky. Erden believes in certain superstitious beliefs arising from the ancient Atrisian culture, including prayers to spirits and placement of objects to bring good luck. Put a wonderful water tank with fishes in one's office to bring wealth. Avoid wearing red on certain days to prevent bloodshed.
  • - Cares About Face: Honour and Face are important to the Dragon Head. This means that he is unwilling to compromise when things threaten his honour, his family name or his society. Without Face, Erden feels that he is unable to live his life without being a laughing stock by his peers. That said, he is willing to scheme and wait for his time to gain his revenge when his honour is tarnished. Revenge must always be served.

BACKGROUND
According to an Atrisian spirit shaman, Erden was born when the moon was the fullest in the hour of the Dragon. Erden Tarkhan was his name given by his parents, which meant "Treasure of Skill" in Atrisian Basic. His father was a Red Pole, a captain in the Tian Di Society where its lineage could be traced back to the last years of the Kitel Phard Dynasty. When the dynasty was collapsing, commoners decided to band together to form a new secret society to protect themselves against invaders and enemies. The Tian Di Society was thus formed, with the mission to protect the people and uphold righteous.

Or so the legends were told.

By the time Erden was born, the Society was known to control illegal sectors of the galactic economy. Their members fought with thugs hired by the Hutt Cartel and countless other criminal organisations for survival, craving out enough space in the Core Worlds' black market. The Society was no longer restricted to Atrisians, allowing all races and genders to join to for the sake of prosperity. Erden learnt the ropes of running the business by following his father, picking up the skills needed to communicate in multiple alien languages. That meant seeing people getting murdered when he was still young, watching crimes being conducted and money used to pay off the law.

As he grew older, his father retired and handed him the reins of his men, allowing Erden to become a Red Pole in the society. The Chairman of the Society was elected by elders on a periodic basis, with the Red Poles and other prominent members fighting for nominations and votes to win the seat. To become the Chairman was a great deal, being granted the ability to lead the Society would bring tremendous power and honour. Honour, integrity and brotherhood. That was what members of the Society talked about, but ultimately words were nothing compared to cold hard credits and backstabbing.

Erden won the election. Fair and square, he proclaimed when the elders overwhelmingly voted for him. His competition were mostly eliminated by then. Upon his ascension as the Dragon Head, Erden did the unthinkable by abolishing the election selection through his political cunning. And yet others were watching him closely, hoping that he would make the wrong move and mess things up. If he did, the elders and other rivals would find ways to strip him of his Chairman title and make him disappear without a trace.

After securing his seat as the Chairman of the Society, Erden began to trace back his lineage and discovered his connection with the deWinter family. His father was one of the many descendants created by the aftermath of his ancestor's criminal acts. Jonathan deWinter was known as a sexual predator who had raped many women during his lifetime, with countless illegitimate children that seemed impossible to trace.
