SPECIAL FEATURES
  • One LAG Hell Fire has much greater stopping power than the average Heavy Turbolaser
  • Extreme Range means this acts like a sniper rifle of the Turbolasers
STRENGTHS
  • Hits much harder than average heavy turbolasers
  • Extreme range
WEAKNESSES
  • Fires extremely slow
  • Ships smaller than 400 meters can not use this
  • The shear size makes it an easy target compared to other turbolaser placements
  • Considering the amount of energy it takes to power one of these turbolasers, destroying one can cause massive damage to both inner and outer hulls of ships.
  • Recoil is relative to the size of ship; overall, it's about average, but a smaller ship may struggle to compensate for the size and output of the weapon. (Smaller ships experience higher recoil, whereas larger ships will experience only average amounts of recoil.)

DESCRIPTION
As times become more modern, technology grows, better and stronger. The Shadow Empire required weapons better than the standard Dual Turbolaser, or Heavy Ion Cannon, and started working on schematics. While this is not entirely new technology to the galaxy, the Shadow Empire was capable of creating it's own specialized turbolaser. The placement is quite large compared to others, giving it amazing accuracy at extreme ranges. While the amount of energy required to use it is not entirely crazy, this means that smaller ships sometimes will only have one or two of these turbolasers, and nothing else. Not entirely a bad thing considering their practical use is long range, it means that those smaller ships wont be effective in close range, not entirely. This turbolaser can still get in a medium concept of range and be quite powerful, but now the worry of bombers and starfighters can become an issue. This turbolaser can also be mounted on a placement for planetary defense with the same concept in mind, the more of these are on the planet, the less of other forms of planetary defenses. The recoil of this weapon was a surprise, it's the effect of all the power being used in a singular area at once. This can cause smaller starships to have to replace themselves for another shot. These turbolasers also shoot very slowly, almost 25 seconds passing before a second shot can be fired. Almost no time for starfighters to approach and begin attacking the ship equipped with this weapon.

Hey there, I'll be helping you get this submission approved.

First thing, "permissions" is where you would link to any posts giving you permission to use an item by another player, so if you don't have any of those, go ahead and change that to "N/A".

Your strength that states "hits like 50 normal turbolaser shots" is a bit embellished and might be considered forcing your opponent to take a certain amount of damage. As such, if you could change it to something more like "much greater stopping power than the traditional Turbolaser," that would be excellent.

Also, please elaborate on how this could become a planetary defense platform? If it is a ship mounted weapon, this strength makes little to no sense.

"Ships smaller than 500 meters can not carry this weapon, and 400 meter ships can normally only carry one of these" : I'm assuming you intended to put 4000 meter ships.

"Surprisingly, these have a small amount of recoil, causing ships using this to sometimes get back into position (This effects ships at 400 meters - 600, with 700 and higher hardly ever needing to reposition themselves)" : I'm not sure what you're saying here. If you could, make it more clear for me?

"The more LAT Hell Fires a ship has, the less of other weapons the ship can use (Same effect as planetary defense placement)" : Not a weakness, because this is inherent to all forms of defensive emplacements/shipboard weaponry. Please remove.

I did not mean mean 4000, I reworded so that the end of that sentence says "If any at all" to implement that some 400 meter ships could hold just one of these. I could go a step further that 400 meter ships hoping to use this weapon wont have anything else on their armament list unless they've some form of power greater than above average of the normal notion?

It's got recoil, their in space, shoot one, ship moves a little, gotta get back into position to fire again sometimes. I've no idea how else to explain recoil.

I removed the weakness as requested.

As for the one part about the planetary defense....yea, after thinking about it, I could argue that any turbolaser for a capital ship can be made into planetary defense platform, I'd rather just remove it all together.

I suppose the reason I'm confused is because you're saying "ships smaller than 500 m cannot carry this weapon" and immediately after "400 m ships can carry one of this weapon." If what you mean is that smaller craft can utilize this weapon at the sacrifice of other systems, you could say that, but I'm sure that's not a weakness and could be removed entirely.

After you've explained it, I'm not sure why this would be a weakness. You've described the weapon as having low recoil, so even for a smaller ship, it doesn't make sense to say any amount of recoil would cause it to require repositioning. Please remove this weakness.

As it stands, you're going to need at least one more weakness to balance this submission.

Well....those were sorta my weaknesses. I could always change the recoil to average to effect smaller ships? Other than that, the whole design of this weapon is sorta be totally flip flopped.

I've no idea what else I can do to make this weapon have another weakness.

What if I gave it a rapid fire mode, reducing the accuracy and giving it a chance to overheat, melt the barrel and on extreme cases even explode?

It would be fine to up the rating on Recoil to Average, The Red of Sinner The Red of Sinner

And then, you can add a weakness that "recoil is relative to the size of ship; overall, it's about average, but a smaller ship may struggle to compensate for the size and output of the weapon. (Smaller ships experience higher recoil, whereas larger ships will experience only average amounts of recoil.)

Adding the overload would break the balance on the weapon, so I'm going to say no to that.

I edited the following:

Recoil is now average with copying and pasting what you said about the recoil relativity to the size of the ship.

Then added the weakness that considering that it takes a lot of power to work of one these weapons that destroying one could possibly cause extreme damage to the inner and outer hulls
