SPECIAL FEATURES
  • High Rate of Fire
  • Controllable
  • Doesn't Look Like a Blaster
  • Quite Pretty
Strengths:
  • Rate of Fire: The Bracer Blaster has an absurdly high rate of fire. It can empty its 30 round cartridge in under a second and the 500 rounds from the Vest in 20 seconds of continuous fire. This makes it easy to hose down a target. This is accomplished by reducing the power of individual bolts, both stretching out the ammunition supply and reducing heating.
  • Controllable: The individual bolts are relatively weak, which carries its own set of problems, but the upside is that there's not really much recoil to contend with.
  • Stealthy: It doesn't look like a blaster. In fact, it looks like a piece of ornate jewelry. Unless you know it's a weapon, visually identifying it as such won't be easy. While it's not specifically designed to defeat scans, pop the power cell out and there's not much to distinguish it from a regular, inert piece of jewelry.
Weaknesses:
  • Weak: The individual bolts are only slightly more powerful than the average holdout blaster. There's a whole hell of a lot of them, but unless you somehow manage to drill four or five of them into the same spot, they're not going to burn through more than the lightest of armor. Fortunately, that's not the point.
  • From the Hip: The Bracer Blaster has no sights. Thus, precision aiming is more or less impossible.
  • Range: Even if it did have sights, the Bracer Blaster wouldn't make for much of a sniper rifle. Its range is no more than about 30 meters or so. That's plenty for hosing down a target in the same room, but not so good for taking on targets across a courtyard.
DESCRIPTION
The Bracer Blaster is a collaboration between RCAA and Lady Kay. Its purpose is simple: to hide an effective weapon in plain sight, one that can give the Queen of Commenor the advantage on potential assassins.

Appearance-wise, it resembles a leather bracer with ornate songsteel metalwork among the spine. The songsteel is wrought into a delicate vine-like pattern that forms a "spine" along the top of the wrist. The blaster is hidden in that spine.

Functionally, the Bracer Blaster is more or less identical to any other fully automatic blaster on the market. Its bolts are low powered in order to up the rate of fire, but that's the only thing really special about it. It can be fed from either a 30 round power cell/gas canister combo, or hooked up to an umbilical from the Vest, which will give it a 500 round capacity.

In all other respects, it's nothing special, just a Commen blaster for a Commen Queen.
