  • Image Source: Iron Man 2
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: John's
  • Primary Source: Charric / Beam Weapon

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Charric Laser
  • Size: Average
  • Weight: Average
  • Ammunition Type: Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
  • Ammunition Capacity: Extremely Small
  • Effective Range: Long Range
  • Rate of Fire: Extremely High
  • Stopping Power: Extreme
  • Recoil: High

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Sweep or Still: The Pisces, although formally a piece of ordinance has some level of versatility, with a continual stream laser which lasts approximately 1.02 seconds before its energy charge runs dry, it can naturally be swept in a single wide 'arc' hitting each enemy in its path or be 'focused' on a single stationary location for maximum penetrating power.
  • Charric Weapon: As a Maser, unlike blasters the Pisces hits, and hits HARD as both a kinetic weapon and a heat weapon. A focused blast has the equivalent force of a small rocket capable of flipping a speeder with relative ease.
  • Modular Equipment: The weapon can be easily integrated into a droid or worn combat armour of medium sized or larger.
  • Safety First: The Pisces charges a blast to order, building up particle mass and dispersing excess energy safely with a very high quality Sturm Dowel, meaning that if the weapon is struck with a blaster attack or otherwise damaged, even if hit in the weapon is in the midst of firing it's able to disperse the energy away from the user leaving them unharmed.
  • Cell Ejection / Loading: With such a limited ammunition system, the cells of this weapon are approximately the size of a small grenade. After firing the weapon a switch can be hit to expend a spent cell, projecting it away from the user, allowing for a quick manual reload.

STRENGTHS
  • Variable Payload: The Pisces is capable of delivering its deadly payload in one of two ways, as a wide arc capable of hitting multiple targets soft targets such as droids or infantry or focusing on a single point to maximize its impressive penetrating power.
  • Hybrid Damage: As a Charric weapon powered by a charged particle coil, the weapon delivers an impressive payload of both radioactive heat and kinetic energy allowing it to potentially bypass certain weaknesses of armours. This combination also affords the weapon its impeccable penetrating power.
  • Penetration Power (Focused): There is very little in the galaxy that a focused 1.02 second blast from the Pisces cannot punch through, the weapon with its hybrid damage weakens metals with its radioactive head impairing the structural integrity of a hardened substance while the focused force tears through it. Only the heaviest most resilient armours (usually heavy vehicle plating) could hope to truly withstand a full blast from the Pisces, especially within 30ft.
  • Lawn Mower (Arc): While the penetrating power of the straight ray is almost unmatched, swinging the weapon in a wide arc of up to 200 degrees, while having far less penetrating power, still acts as a potent anti-personnel weapon. Capable of slicing through bio matter and materials prone to its energy with some efficiency potentially bisecting droids and humanoids alike if they're within 30ft. However, high quality medium armoured enemies with resilient materials or heavily armoured targets would likely remain intact with some level of moderate damage to the armour though are likely still thrown or knocked back by the sheer kinetic force.

WEAKNESSES
  • One And Done: The energy cell within the Pisces is expended after every firing of the weapon, while the cells can be recharged with a potent enough external power source, a manual recharge would take some moments making its use unreliable in high intensity combats. Manual reloading of the weapon allows the weapon to fire more frequently, but the weapon must still cool intermittently least it be damaged by repeated use, additionally due to the size and expense of the cells, equaling that of a small grenade and being rather pricey, the weapon struggles with having limited shots in any given scenario.
  • Shields: While every weapon has a weakness, particle shields are the bane of this weapons' existence. With the delivery method of this weapon being nothing more or less than concentrated proton and kinetic energy, Particle Shields are horrendously effective at defending against the Pisces' blasts. Although a full beam from the weapon is likely to expend light shields, the target is likely to escape the weapons deadly payload totally unharmed.
  • High Recoil: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. A law of physics which unfortunately applies to the Pisces in earnest. With colossal kinetic energy, the weapon does a good job of attempting to diffuse the recoil energy out to the sides and away from the user, however, the weapon requires a high degree of strength to fire and should be integrated into droids, medium armours of strong races, powered armours or heavy armoured units.

DESCRIPTION
"Aaand Breakthrough!"

The cheer of the scientist echoed throughout the halls as a blue beam of energy tore through yet another one inch thick plate of Durasteel. A droid had been outfitted with a prototype weapon and general tool that could be used for almost anything. It could be used for mining, rescue, manufacturing and yes if it had to be used as such, weaponized for combat. The system had been integrated into a CLL-M2 and aiming it at sheets and getting them to tear through them one after the other, punching 1.5" holes in whatever they focused the beam on and enjoying upping the anti each and every time. Changing materials, densities, thicknesses and seeing if their new toy were able to penetrate through it like the Charric Drill that it was.

"I think we're going to end up very wealthy people once this blueprint gets accepted and we get into limited production. This should change EVERYTHING! How is the Charric's readings?" The voice of the excited female scientist would ring aloud, looking to the lab-coated Togruta woman behind the droid, monitoring its systems with a data-pad in hand as she would circle around to the front of the droid like a vulture, inspecting each and every angle of the thing.

"It seems to be reading well so far, overheating a little, there are a couple of small stress fractures, time between blasts should be kept to one every fifteen seconds or so to allow the module a chance to cool to reasonable levels, but that should be fine with the recharge cycle attaching the weapon to be recharged by the droids' power core, the Ultrachrome is doing its job though, it was a good idea, Nice call love."

"Pyronium was a mistake, it ate the charge but it led to overheating, and don't get me started on the titanium or Diatium ideas that we had, we're lucky I didn't lose an arm. The only problem is that its a bit more expensive, until we find a significantly cheaper alternative..." The younger human female's face furrowed in thought as she fixed another plate of steel, this time a Titanium and Durasteel alloy, soon after the blue beam shot true, tearing through the one centimeter plank of steel within a third of its charge time with an excited squee following after as the tool would once again enter its cooling cycle.

"Yeah, but there's no known synthetic to Ultrachrome, unless you'd like to invent that next." The Togruta replied, analyzing its cooling cycle, watching the Ultrachome diffuse the excess energy from the tool as well as touching and prodding at the metal surrounding the integrated Charric. "I think it's time to test the Maser in motion, system thinks it will result in a 66% drop in efficiency, but it should still be able to get through the Duracrete and Alusteels happily."

There was an affirming nod and squeaky noise as the two of them moved to reprogram the droid in order to allow it to sign the letter 'P' in the next steel plate that was situated before it. Although the process took some time, after a number of hours the two were sharing chutes of wine on a table that had been sheered by none other than their new laser toy. Durasteel plating and mountains of slag off-cuts surrounded them as they would drink to their success.

"Today we celebrate, tomorrow, we take this into the big guy himself!"
"To universal accreditation, and maybe even a promotion babe, cheers!"
