OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Kyrosi, Known as the Stoneborn
  • Designation: Sentient | Genetically Engineered/Alchemically Altered
  • Homeworld: Aurum / Midvinter
  • Language: Umbaran, Galactic Basic Standard, Runian
  • Average Lifespan: Theoretically Ageless; Once they reach their prime age, matching that of Kära Hearthfire when the clones were made (late twenties) they will cease to age. Most die young, shortly after they are released into Kära's service, due to the lifestyle they lead.
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description:

Kyrosi are clones of [member="Kära Hearthfire"] from her time as a Sith Lord and as such look just like her beneath their stony skin. Each member of the species looks exactly like the next, with only scars earned during their service to their creator setting them apart. Their hair is pure white, their eyes a deep icy blue, and their skin as white as snow. The only exception are their lips, which are as blue as their eyes.

Upon their brow lies a row of horn-like appendages which are hollow and provide them with enhanced hearing, acting as a siphon for vibrations. The base clones were altered with spliced DNA to bring in attributes from Aurum's native creatures, as well as the scourge from Midvinter where Kära calls home. Their skin appears stony and cracked, and is thick like that of the native Tejdoru, and is cold to the touch and resilient like the Vinterbound.

Apart from these strange alterations, they are otherwise physically the same as Kära Hearthfire, in terms of height and build.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I and II
  • Average height of adults: 5'1
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Pure White with hints of Blue
  • Hair color: Pure White
  • Distinctions: All Female. Stone-Like Skin. Numerous hollow head appendages arranged like a crown at the brow. Each member looks exactly the same, barring any scars gained after their creation.
  • Races: Not Applicable
  • Strengths:

+ Very fast, with surprisingly quick reflexes

+ Loyal to their creator, and cannot be easily won over

+ Very good eyesight thanks to their base genetics

+ Resistant to toxins such as poisons and venom thanks to their spliced DNA

+ Stoneskinned, making them resistant to most types of damage; lightsabers can harm them with a few seconds of touch, and blasters can harm them with repeated shots in the same spot

+ Improved hearing through head appendages

+ Unbothered by the cold, they can survive in freezing temperatures

+ Unable to physically age, once they hit a specific point in time, though most Kyrosi do not live very long due to their war-based culture

+ Have an icy aura which has been known to freeze water with enough time

+ Deadly by nature, they were made and trained to kill

+ Kyrosi do not require sleep or sustenance as often as most humanoids, they have a high level of endurance that will keep them going for weeks at a time, though when the time does come to rest they will hibernate for just as long as they were awake, if not longer
  • Weaknesses: [2 minimum]

    - Physically weak and small like their creator

    - Must rely solely on their speed and agility to outmaneuver their enemies, if caught head on they will lose 90% of the time unless facing someone equally as small

    - Exposure to fire will severely harm them, more so than your average person

    - Despite their thick skin keeping them from most types of harm, should a Kyrosi be injured their wounds will take a very long time to naturally heal when compared to other species', leading many to believe that it is nigh on impossible for them to heal on their own. Even with medical assistance, or the Force, the damage sustained would be very difficult to fix and take significantly longer.

    - On top of this, exposure to Phrik will severely weaken them, and if damaged by a Phrik blade or weapon their sustained wounds will not heal. Often this will lead to a very quick death

    - Kyrosi have extremely sensitive hearing which can lead to sensory overload, forcing them to lose focus

    - Kyrosi have extremely sensitive eyesight like their creator, and sudden flashes of light can bring about epileptic seizures

    - They are incapable of reproducing, due to the fact that every member of the species is female. They must be created, which takes time, energy, and resources

    - There are very few Kyrosi in existence, each death is a large blow to their force

    - Every single Kyrosi is incapable of using the Force

    - Armour slows them down, so they have been trained to fight without it. While their skin is tough enough to hold up against most weapons, prolonged exposure to energy weapons will damage them and Phrik weapons will pierce their skin without issue. The lack of armour can be a severe hindrance when fighting an enemy wielding either of these things

    - They are largely uncaring of their own lives, willing to lay them down in service of their creator. As a result they will thrust themselves headlong into battle, and will not back down even if the odds are against them. Many Kyrosi die young because of this

    - Kyrosi are largely mindless and incapable of thinking for themselves. They do as they are told and very little more... Without instruction they fall apart as a unit
CULTURE
  • Diet: Raw Or Frozen Meat; Their stomachs cannot digest cooked meat or vegetation of any kind. Some have been known to eat the flesh of their enemies, though this is not condoned by their creator.
  • Communication: Vocal, though they are barely found speaking, as well as generic human body language. The Kyrosi are often given their instructions telepathically by their creator, though they are incapable of telepathic communication themselves.
  • Technology level: Galactic Standard, though they do not wear armour even though it is available to them. Most wield spears or saberpikes, and very few utilize any real technology at all despite it being accessible.
  • Religion/Beliefs: The Kyrosi view their creator, whom they were made in the image of, as their Deity. They would do anything to please and serve her. This is not like a traditional religion, of course, they have no scriptures or temples, just an unflinching devotion to the Lady who gave them life.
  • General behavior:

The Kyrosi are for the most part very mindless. They do as they are commanded, they know no love or family, they work together as a unit, and are made to fight above all else. Some have been known to sing, usually songs of their victories or songs to inspire fear in their enemies, though this is a rarity. During their early years, prior to them reaching their prime age, they are taught very little outside of how to fight.

They are given a rudimentary education, enough that they know how to read and write if necessary, but they were not created for their brains. All Kyrosi are put through their paces, taught to be swift and agile, to act with just a moments notice, and to remain undetected until the very last moment. They are taught to avoid armour at all cost, as it adds an extra burden and slows them down, and to avoid facing their opponents head on. After all, they are as small and physically weak as their creator...

Their primary weapons are spears and saber pikes, anything which gives them a distance advantage and allows them to remain swift and agile, dancing circles around their enemy rather than facing them head to head in a battle of strength.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Throughout her life Kära has always been exposed to the wonders of Sith Alchemy, and while Metallurgy was her passion she spent a lot of time observing the creation of Sithspawn, from Velok's Leviathan to the strange goop Valik had her studying. She even spent a short while studying from Rave Merrill alongside her brother, Darth Metus, though throughout it all she longed to put her own mark on the Galaxy and never quite reached the potential to do so.

That was until Mysa came along. Genetically engineered from Kära's own DNA the child was a prototype, not a clone by any means given that she was grown in the womb and birthed, the paternal DNA was taken from a random yet genetically strong Umbaran and altered almost entirely. The idea was to create a child who was free from genetic defects, and it was a success. But that wasn't enough. It wasn't far enough. Just preliminary testing.

Next came the clones. Perfect copies of Kära without any of her scarring, they were created in her lab on Aurum and trained as warriors, hardened in ways that Kära had never been in her youth. Significantly stronger than she, but lacking her affinity to the Force, they served as silent watchers and bodyguards for a great many years, lingering in the shadows away from sight. One from among them was chosen, named Zarathustra after her sister in youth, and she was sent to Archangel to become a HRD (Human Replica Droid), stronger and more useful than her kin.

But this didn't advance her biological goals, nor her understanding of genetics and mutations. So began her true experiments. She had dabbled with poisons since her youth with Daxton Bane, and had heard tale of a strange creature on Aurum that was itself venomous and resistant to many poisons, capable of neutralizing the toxins; after acquiring a group of Moolkirook she set about extracting some of their venom glands, and carefully opened up their shells to find out more about them.

Her preliminary attempts at splicing DNA from the Moolkirook with her own were complete failures. The small batch of clones that were created died after just a couple of hours, and for the time being Kära set the idea to one side. Her attention turned from them to the native Tejdóru, small dragon-like creatures with naturally thick skin that was capable of resisting most weaponry. Only prolonged exposure to energy-based weapons such as blasters and lightsabers could pierce their hide. Naturally this came about from the thick scales, but she found that even the skin beneath was tougher than most.

Surprisingly, with a little time, patience, and a few botched attempts, she managed to replicate the Tejdóru's hide in her clones, who were created with thick almost stone-like skin. It was oddly textured, with thin grooves that were noted as housing weaker spots at their base. Their very skin was almost scaly, rough to the touch, and significantly hardened when compared to their untouched sister clones.

Atop the head of some, like many of the more developed Tejdóru, several hollowed bones had formed like spikes breaking through their tough 'stone' skin. Oddly enough these clones seemed to be immensely sensitive to sound, and when the volume rose too high they seemed to be genuinely pained by it. While this had not been a result she had expected, Kära decided that this random mutation was one she would keep. Those without were set aside, and she utilized her chosen ones for the next wave of experiments.

Again she attempted to splice the Moolkirook's strange resistance with her experiments. This time rather than leaving it to chance she opted to hasten the process, and strengthen the mutations, through the Force. Science and metaphysics came together during the process, and Kära added a little of her own blood into the mix; she herself was largely immune to most poisons, but this had been a learned effect borne of many years of hardship and training, not something she could naturally pass on to them through the cloning process.

The mutation stuck, and while one in every five of the clones died after just a couple of days, the rest pushed through and lived. Tests were done to check their level of immunity, where it was found that many of the more common substances were neutralized entirely while others left the clones merely sick but in one piece.

During this time Kära moved her focus from them to Midvinter, a place she eventually came to govern alongside her soon-to-be-husband, and the project was shelved. That was until she came across a very strange anomaly on the world, an unnatural scourge that walked the icy land without rest, immune to the frigid cold around them. Wars were waged against them, and their body count rose. Almost all of the corpses were burned, but one that Kära hunted down herself was secretly taken off-world.

The project began again; the Vinterbound, she came to find out, were themselves a form of Sithspawn, controlled by an amulet which had been destroyed during one of the battles. Kära found that by the time she returned to Aurum the body of the Vinterbound had disintegrated into dust, no longer a viable source, so she temporarily moved the project into her laboratory deep within the mountains on Midvinter.

Clones borne from these experiments were far stranger than any she had brought to life prior; they were cold to the touch, each breath they took emitted mist even when the room around them was warm, and glasses of water froze to the brim at their touch. They did not rest, they barely ate, and attempts at feeding them a proper meal resulted in one death and many of the others were rendered useless for a while. During that time she found that only raw or frozen meat would suffice, not that they ate often at all.

Over the next few years they were observed from afar, while she raised her family in the City below, and neither showed signs of ageing. Their aversion to fire was quickly discovered, and during their more laborious training sessions so too was their weakness to Phrik. The wounds gained from the substance could not at all heal, and cut through their otherwise resilient skin with ease. This was a price she was willing to pay, and she burned any records of these facts in an attempt to keep them from being unearthed.

Deeming these final experiments a success she set about having a few more created, enough to form a distinct unit, and began them with a rigorous training regime. They were handed spears and lightsaber pikes to keep them at a distance from potential enemies, trained to be swift and agile to avoid being struck, and kept from any distractions. None of them were capable of having children, the mutations had caused them to be wholly infertile and besides all of them were female, they had been made for one simple task: to protect their creator. And all of their training was geared toward that end.

I like what I see, it's great, however...

Could you link to the Deviant page as well as provide a title of the artwork?

As for strengths and weaknesses I am okay with most of what I see. There is a very big list of things that are both strengths and weaknesses, and it does balance out in a fair manner. However, I'd like to propose a slight change to one of the weaknesses:

Phrik is a very specific metal, and while I see what you are getting at I think it is perhaps a little bit too specific. I'd like to propose an edit that turns this into something such as that the creatures are simply harder to heal in general. A bit like a very bad case of bleeder's disease. You are, of course, also free to come up with an alternate weakness of your own as well but as mentioned phrik is perhaps a bit too specific and for that reason I want to see it changed for something else.

Other than that it is a very solid submission that should be able to be stamped for Approval once edits have been made. :)

Could I state that wounds they sustain are difficult to heal/almost impossible to heal naturally, and still make it that phrik in particular will do severely more damage and wounds sustained by phrik will not heal at all? Two weaknesses for one. I just liked the idea of them having a genuine weakness to the alloy.

To be frank I was skeptical when I gave this its first initial look over but on closer inspection I was pleased to find that while they have a very long list of strengths, their weaknesses have provided exceptional balance.

There is a fine line between making something unique and flavorful, and making something absurd and OP. You've managed not to cross it. Well done.

Approved.
