"Don't even ask what they do up there. They keep apart. They come and go, but they're there when we need them to fight, so no questions asked. Fair bit of Fett clone blood up there, because the place was a haven for deserters during the wars."
―Goran Beviin

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Kyrimorut
  • Classification: Urban Village
  • Location: Mandalore
  • Affiliation: House Skirata
  • Demographics: 90% Mandalorian; 5% Non-Mandalorian; 5% Droid
  • Wealth: Medium
  • Stability: High
  • Description: Built into the side and around an ancient veshok trees and surrounded by a mixed forest of veshok and taung war oak, Kyrimorut is a large village, bordering on the classification of a town, that has been the home of most Manda'yaim born members of House Skirata. The village sits on a wide lake, made wider by the new river created after the Cataclysm and utilized the massive tree as a stable foundation for many of the buildings. Scattered around the ground and near the lake were fisheries, farms, and rice patties while along the trunk and roots of the massive tree were various shops and homes built on top and around each other in a large cluster. From the outside the village looks rather small, however there are various entrences into the actual trunk of the tree which leads to a variety of tunnels, turbolifts, and even trams, some of which lead to the opposite side of the tree which is where a large ground side hangar resides. The hangar doubles as a small spaceport and the House Skirata militia base. The trunk also houses medical facilities, various armories and even more homes, shops, and smithies. Due to its compact nature Kyrimorut has the activity level of a small city, but is also the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and word travels fast.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Port Skirata: A large hangar and barrack where House Skirata keeps most of its militia gear. It doubles as a small spaceport. Security here is heaviest. An armory, a two tiered hangar and tarmac, barracks, first aid center, and training yard overlooked Lake Kad'ika and was on the opposite side of the lake to Kyrimorut proper. It took about five minutes to get from Kyrimorut proper to the small base.

The Fallen: Three large beskar slab that has been worn over the centuries. It was originally put up by the members of House Skirata to remember the various mercenaries and soldiers that had fought and died for Mandalore during wars long past. Every once in a while married couples came here to chose a name for their child or engrave the name of a loved one on its crowded surface. Some have called for a new slab to be added since the end of the Gulag Plague and the Mandalorian Resource Wars. It overlooks the Lake Kad'ika and Kyrimorut from a small cliff nearby. Each slab is adorned with an inscription that reads, Rejorhaa'ruetiise meg'oyacyi jorcu mhi r'asham—"Tell the aruetiise that they lived because we died."

Kyrimorut: The original Vheh'yaim constructed by Kal Skirata and his clan during the Clone Wars. A large dome structure constructed of green veshok wood, vines, and clay, it was used mostly as a meeting place for House Elders and other important events such as Verd'gotten celebrations, memorials, weddings, and important holidays. It still remains functioning, though many of the old underground wings have caved in. It is mostly used by House Skirata's militia and is kept restored by Clan Skirata proper as their ancestral home. It was custom for the leader of House Skirata to move into the aging home with their family. (See Canon Kyrimorut link)

Lake Kad'ika: Named for Venku Skirata's nickname, "Little Saber", lake Kad'ika is the large lake that Kyrimorut was constructed near. It was a popular place for fishing and was home to several lake houses, including one owned by Clan Skirata. Despite its proximity to Kyrimorut, it was a popular vacation destination for Mandalorians in the village as well as Mandalorians from the closest settlements, Enceri and Ka'Pruni. It wasn't uncommon to see young Mandalorians dueling over the waters on their Bes'uliik.

SECURITY: Medium
It hosts a small militia, like most Mandalorian villages and towns across Mandalore. As a warrior people, most towns and homesteads were built to withstand assaults for days with Kyrimorut being no different. While there aren't automated turrets around, the spaceport opposite to the lake, known as Port Skirata, held a sizable military force as far as militias went with more than a dozen fighters and transports. While technically not in Kyrimorut proper, it was close enough that should things go badly they could be deployed to help protect their home. While all of the citizens aren't soldiers, for most of their lives there was some sort of mandatory military service whether it had been as part of the Mandalorian military or as part of Kyrimorut's militia. While they might be farmers and fishermen now don't expect them to simply scamper away in fear in an assault. Kyrimorut was their home, and they would die to protect it. A HAS military shield from Port Skirata is also near enough that it also protects the village.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Originally constructed hundreds of years ago by Kal Skirata and his small clan of Mandalorians, escaped Jedi, and defected Imperial clones, the modest settlement was a nearly self-sufficient homestead that held less than one thousand people. Over the years as the clan gained more and more influence, especially after the clan rule of Venku Skirata, Kyrimorut grew to be a large village. A tree that had been planted as a way to remember fallen loved ones would grow over the centuries into one of the largest veshok trees on Mandalore. It would become home to House Skirata and the many clans that served under its banner. While no where near as large as cities or towns such as Ka'pruni, Keldabe, or Sundari, Kyrimorut had its own charm. Once a place for misfits and military deserters, it had grown into a thriving and important part of the Mandalorian community. After Mia Monroe and Ijaat Mereel set the planet on a course of self destruction, Kyrimorut was nearly lost. Fires spread around the forest that had surrounded the village for centuries and even changed the flow of water, which made Lake Kad'ika even larger than before. Floods, fire, and famine ran through Kyrimorut. Like many Mandalorians after the event, they left, abandoning their home.

Upon their return just prior to the Civil War they were greeted with flooded and burned down homes. Gilamar elected to have a large area cleared on the opposite end of the lake and put up barracks for people to live and find their loved ones as reconstruction began on Kyrimorut. However, reconstruction stopped during the Civil War and wouldn't resume until after where Dorn Skirata assumed the position of Alor. Completing Port Skirata and revitalizing the village were probably the only two good things Dorn oversaw during his short time as Alor before the position was given back to Gilamar reluctantly. The village was still split after the Civil War, and especially after it became common knowledge that Gilamar had indeed survived the war. While many of House Skirata had elected to live with him and a large flotilla in Outer Rim Coalition space after the Civil War, many had stayed either by choice or fear of Dorn Skirata. With Gilamar's return an uneasy presence took hold of the village. Some proposed they should remain loyal to the Mandalorian Empire and its Mand'alor Yasha Mantis, while others would rather stay out of the business of Mandalore until things became clearer. Gilamar, despite being alive, still had not returned to Mandalore either which put doubt in the many minds of Kyrimorut.

Today is the day I learned the Skiratas were a canon clan.

Conceptually I think we're looking pretty solid here, just a couple things. First is a quibble, your credit to Australis is borked.

Oi, you know the new drill. Gonna need a security rating in there before we can move on.
