The Type 1 Kyr'gal-class Starfighter is the lightest, cheapest, most easily manufactured starfighter in the Dar'tome Mando'ade's arsenal. The ships lack hyperdrives and are exclusively utilized for short range escort and screening missions. Crewed almost exclusively by droids, these fighters are deployed en-mass where they rely on speed and numbers to overwhelm their opponents. In spite of the cheapness of their manufacturing, the design incorporates a complex power distribution and propulsion system that enables these starfighters to adjust their performance profiles mid-engagement to capitalize on the unique vulnerabilities of their opposition. Since these adjustments can be made on a per-starfighter level, individual Kyr'gal can often surprise a pilot that has grown accustomed to the performance profiles of the other starfighters in a squadron.
