Kylo Ren's Mask

Katelyn Feanor

Two sides of a singular coin
So, I saw the movie for the second time and began to wonder. Where is and What happened to Kylo/Ben's mask? During the scene where Ben/Kylo kills his father, Han, he drops his mask onto the bridge that they are on and then he is shot afterwards and the whole fight scene happens. The thing where all of the solar stuff for Starkiller Base is exploded and the planet blows up.

So my question is, what happened to Kylo's mask? He didn't leave the storage facility with it so what I'm assuming is that it's destroyed. That, or, it's made out of phrik or a new canon substance as strong as phrik.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Kylo Ren's mask is a fashion statement, pure and simple. He has at least four of them.

I mean, Darth Vader would have had several made, for sure.

But Kylo's is purely a fashion statement.

I think I agree with [member="Jak Sandrow"]. Though, looking from a literary standpoint, antagonists wear masks to symbolize them hiding their true intentions. Could have been Kylo hiding his real face, that of Ben Solo, from the galaxy, using the mask so everyone knows he's no longer Ben Solo and now Kylo Ren.

Another viewpoint is that Kylo wears the mask in reverence to his idol, Darth Vader.

Vader required the mask to survive, Kylo does not.

You could also argue that he adopted the mask style to try and become more like his grandfather, furthering the symbolism that the dark side is a tomb.
