  • Blastforge Core: The heart of the mine contains a compact, high-yield explosive chamber built from ritual-hardened alloys and a fractured bled kyber charge. Upon activation, it releases a single concussive blast strong enough to cripple small craft and rupture exposed components on larger ships.
  • Bloodsteel Fragmenting Lattice: Lined with an internal mesh of blood-infused bloodsteel, the mine shreds itself upon detonation into thousands of red-hot plasma infused microblades. These alchemized fragments tear through unshielded hulls, slash sensor apertures, and embed into armor to cause secondary damage over time.
  • Proximity Detonation: Uses a simple sensor-based trigger calibrated to explode when a vessel crosses its engagement threshold. The system is rugged, reliable, and nearly immune to most ECM interference, making it ideal for deployment in chaotic combat zones.
  • Scorchfield Wake: In the moments after detonation, lingering plasma and radiation cling to the detonation site. This brief but chaotic field disrupts nearby sensor fidelity and causes additional damage to shield envelopes or exposed systems.

  • Sith Aligned Volatility: The use of bled kyber crystals results in a far more violent and unstable explosion compared to standard mines. The detonation is not just physical but emotionally jarring to those attuned to the force, laced with the pain and rage embedded in the corrupted crystal.
  • Plasma Shard Fragmentation: Upon detonation, a surrounding matrix of bloodsteel plasma-charged shrapnel is blasted outward. These shards tear through armor and hull plating with violent efficiency, searing and embedding into vessel interiors like molten blades.
  • Battle-Ready Simplicity: No illusions. No elaborate triggers. The Kyberburst Mine is optimized for brute force, allowing it to be scattered in the thick of a dogfight or dropped in pursuit lanes to catch tailing enemies.
  • Kyber Echo Scar: In the seconds after detonation, the mine leaves behind a temporary scar in local space, an echo of the kyber's torment. This lingering residue distorts short-range sensors and causes Force-users to feel a sharp spike of rage, fear, and pain, as if they had bled the crystal themselves.

  • Point Defense Vulnerability: While lethal up close, the mine can be neutralized by vigilant point defense systems or precision strikes. Detection and detonation at range render it inert before it fulfills its intended purpose.
  • Force Nullification: The mine's kyber core is weakened when placed under force nullification, it loses effectiveness as its destructive power is weakened while the field is active.

The Kyberburst Mine Mk. I represents the Kainate's brutal philosophy distilled into a simple, unrelenting weapon. Where many of the Sith's armaments rely on complex snares or ritual enhancements, the Kyberburst Mine is direct, immediate, and indiscriminate. It is the dark counterpart to conventional proximity explosives, a weapon forged not for cleverness, but for destruction. It is seeded into battle not to shape the enemy's behavior through fear or illusion, but to tear them apart through sheer violence.

Right at its heart lies a fractured bled kyber crystal, tortured through Sith rites until it hums with barely-contained fury. The crystal is housed within a reinforced sarrassian iron casing, engraved with runes in bloodsteel ink that carry the imprint of pain and sacrifice. These markings are not simply decorative; they help maintain the crystal's unstable equilibrium long enough for deployment. But once triggered, the mine unleashes a devastating surge of red-black energy, its explosive yield vastly more unstable and violent than traditional detonite-based devices. This detonation is raw and emotional, echoing the trauma of the crystal's bleeding process and magnifying the explosive force into a hateful burst that scars everything within reach.

Upon detonation, a ring of plasma-charged shards erupts outward in a high-velocity burst. These molten fragments shear through starfighter armor and hull plating with ease, embedding themselves deep into systems and crew compartments alike. The result is not just damage, but chaos, engines fail, control surfaces are shredded, and cockpits become charnel houses. For a few moments after, the site of the blast is engulfed in residual plasma fire, interfering with sensors and frying unshielded systems caught in the immediate aftermath.

The Kyberburst Mine is most commonly deployed in dense formations or clustered fields, often to seal off narrow corridors of approach, ambush predictable flight paths, or protect retreating vessels. They are especially effective in asteroid fields, orbital debris zones, or battlefield chokepoints where maneuverability is limited and opportunities for evasion are few. Starfighters that dare to charge through such areas will often find themselves funneled directly into the mine's effective radius.

The mine's activation matrix is tuned with precision to detect the movement and energy signatures of starfighters, bombers, and corvettes. However, it is entirely indiscriminate. There is no friend-or-foe recognition, no safeguard against misuse. This reflects the Kainate's cold doctrine: any who lack coordination, caution, or control are unworthy of survival. In this way, the Kyberburst does more than destroy, it imposes discipline through consequence.

Though deceptively simple in function, the Kyberburst Mine is not a mass-produced tool of war. It is constructed with intention, each unit requiring the careful embedding of a bled kyber crystal, harvested through pain and alchemical ritual. This limitation ensures that every mine deployed serves a specific purpose, an echo of the Sith's preference for meaningful destruction over blind saturation.

In the hands of the Kainate, the Kyberburst Mine Mk. I is more than a minefield. It is a killing ground. An offering to the void made manifest in red fire and shards of rage. Each detonation is a sermon in blood, its explosive howl reminding all who hear it that death is not simply a consequence of war, it is its language.
