- Due to the bond the crystal has with Cotan Sar'andor, it grants whoever holds it a very keen ability to focus in on him—making them able to detect his location, see what is happening with him, and even pick-up on his thoughts and feelings; in the hands of somebody particularly skilled with the Force, they could even use it to pinpoint him at galactic distances or communicate with him through the Force.
- Crystal Focus: Can be used for constructing a new lightsaber in a pinch.
- Resilient: Between the Kyber crystal and the phrik chain, you're going to have a hard time breaking this.
- Bonded: The first Kyber crystal that Cotan ever connected with as a Padawan learner, years ago, this crystal is as deeply connected to him as any other he has gained over the years; through the bond, one can gain insights to his location, state, thoughts and feelings, and might even be able to communicate with him.

- In The Wrong Hands: It is feasibly possible that somebody could get their hands on this that Cotan doesn't want to get their hands on it. If that happens, then they can tap into all the features of the bond themselves, making it easier to hunt him down.
Originally found when he was just a Padawan of the Jedi Order, Cotan developed a powerful bond with this crystal over the years that he used it in his first, blue-bladed lightsaber under his Jedi Master. However, during a mission to Atrisia, Cotan's master was killed by the Sith Lord Mythos, and Cotan himself was taken prisoner, with his lightsaber being destroyed. However, the crystal itself was saved, with the intention having been to bleed it and use it for crafting a Sith weapon. When Cotan managed to escape, he was able to reclaim the crystal for himself, though after the events of the failed mission he decided that it would be better not to use it in a lightsaber again; indeed, the fact that later crystals he found to use showcased a different colour entirely showed that he'd taken steps down a different path than what he'd first been set on when he found the original crystal. However, despite that difference, the bond between him and the crystal remained strong, due to the number of years he had carried it to focus his blade.
Without any idea what to do with the crystal other than carry it with him over the years, it took the arrival of Asha Hex into his life to give him any clue of what to do with it—especially after a somewhat awkward interaction on Bespin involving the two of them and a different crystal that Cotan carried, and the assumptions that observers around them made as to what was going on. With that all in mind, and still possessing some phrik from the construction of his weapons, he decided to craft a small necklace with the gem as a gift for his dear friend.
