- Entechment Saber / Life Absorbing Blade:
The Core advantage of the new tail other then it's general performance increase is the addition of an advanced Entechmnent engine which boasts an ambient filter attached to an overdrive mechanic as well as the blade at the tip of the tail itself which is also attached. The blade passively draws off of a minute sum of the wielders' life force. (Enough to exhaust them if used for hours, but not enough to matter in combat.) What the weapon does do however, is convert life force of those killed by the blade into power, putting the blade into a state of overdrive for a short time; extending its length and making it strikes for the duration connect with much more kinetic force as it burns off the energy capable of breaking guards, breaking metal and throwing people backward some distance. - Light-Saber Resistant:
The Diffusion welded Phrik armour plating of the tail makes the tail both light and durable, able to resist light-saber blows and other heat or energy sources as per the properties of the Phrikite armour. The metal has been alloyed slightly with Duraplast to extend the quantity without hampering the weight or strength of the material. While between the joints lays a flexible Phrik / Duraplast armor-weave much like kevlar to protect the joints, though this weave is less durable than the plating it is capable of taking some light-saber contact. - Extendable:
The Frame of the tail itself is capable of extending to almost three times its compressed length while maintaining its speed and composure. Though, while fully extended, the much weaker armour-weave of the tail is lain to bare between the plates, meaning while potent, this is the tails most vulnerable state. - MCD:
A Mother Control Device is installed at the upper portion of Iziz's spine allowing him to control the tail as aptly as he would another part of his body without physically feeling it. Also acting as a barrier, protecting his nervous system from electrical charges. The MCD also acts as a neural battery, powering the actions of the tail, but not the saber at its tip, which operates on its own separate power supply.
While having much of the same features in practice as Iziz's older model, accompanied with things which could not be altered such as the carbon fiber reinforcement of Iziz's spine or the MCD attached to his spine. The goal of the replacement was to augment the style in which Iziz was able to use his tail, as well as increase the usefulness of some of its systems, increasing the combat applications of his now trained weapon and tool.
The Basics:
The Tail moves through a series of carbon nano-tunes wired and intricately weaved together to almost create a synthetic muscle substance which is ultimately pulled by the delicate machinery within the frame, allowing the tail to act much like an armored organic limb as well as be dexterous and lithe. This inner working 'muscle' layer is then covered by the light armor-weave skin which protects the tail. The tail is then plated at key intersections and way-points which ground these muscles like joints to an exoskeleton. Hydraulic chords link each of these points which mesh together nicely in a tight armored carapace, which is able to be separated in a process much like unfolding, where the hydraulic presses separate the armored plates and exposing the armor-weave, but drastically increasing the length of the tail. The new distance pulls on the 'muscle' layer making it tighter, strengthening it to scale to allow consistent tail strength at all sizes. However, the tighter 'muscle' layer and exposed armor-weave make the tail in this state more brittle and vulnerable, prone to kinetic damage and tearing due to sudden impact and strain of considerable amounts. The overall composition of the tails workings allows it to be flexible as well as useful and versatile in combat and domestic use, much like the tails of lesser simians.
All of this mechanical process would not be possible however without the presence of the MCD, a neural synapse device which translates neural signals into electrical impulses which control the tail as it would another limb. The MCD acts as both an intermediary synapse which connects the mind tot he tail, but also acting as a surge protector from the tail to the spine, ensuring that surges from both the tail and external sources don't cause serious nerve damage or overloads. The replacement tail was removed from this separate item and re-integrated into it.
Finally, at the head of the Tail is a small four pronged claw, with a closed off hole at the end, the opposable claw can be used to grab onto surfaces, even digging into wood and non-steel substances to allow Iziz to balance on or grip to them for whatever reason. The hole however is a deposit which holds in its point the workings of a light-saber capable of extending to about a foot and a half in length (not included in tail length statistics) in its standard state, long enough to be considered a long shoto or a short saber.
Advanced / Changes:
With the potency of the tail not in question, there were a couple of things which needed to be addressed in the model and tweaks which needed to be made. Iziz feeling the weight of the tail opted to have the material separated and duraplast and lightweight titanium replace the use of heavy kevlar and Durasteel, lightening the overall frame without sacrificing too much durability. The lightened weight made the Tail faster and more agile which was a boon, as well as the removal of the small kill switch which Iziz had despised, replacing it with a light jettison system should the tail ever become dead weight, accessible to only himself.
The second change was increasing the length of the light-saber somewhat, a tweak more than a major edit in calibrating the weapon to be less like a dagger and closer to that of a short sword which would be more useful in combat and less compromising for the tail, increasing its reach without weighting too much on the power supply. However, within the light-saber, Iziz gave the saber an open overdrive function by limiting or removing out-going resisters and regulating standard power output. Meaning that if the light-saber were to be fed excess power, it would flare, extending and becoming more powerful in an attempt to burn it off, rather than storing the excess in the blade's battery as recharge. Though the blade would not reach this maximum of its own volition due to the regulated power output.
The final change, unlike the others, overhauled much of how the blade and how the inner power structure of the weapon worked. By removing the secondary battery and replacing some of the wiring, Iziz placed an advanced Entechment engine and filter into the tail, calibrating it to only drain enough power from himself to aid with the use of the activated blade. However, by linking the plasma emission of the blade with the Entechment engine/ filter itself, he granted the blade of the light-saber a potent property. To absorb life on contact. The beam of the blade is able to drain the life energy of those it crosses through and especially, those it kills with the unique Ssi-Ruu technology. With the culling of a life, the Entechment engine draws the fleeting power of the beings life force and rotates it back into the outgoing power of the blade as energy, causing the blade to burn much brighter and much stronger.
The benefits of the overdrive function are simple enough, the blade itself increases in length, up to about 1.2 meter at maximum length. The power of the blade is also increased, the raw power pulsing from the blade causing its strikes to bear a considerable sum of force, pulsing on impacts like small kinetic explosions capable of throwing a person back some distance or breaking through metals and armour.
However, though the blade has its strengths, it will hardly benefit from glancing blows or skimming strikes... even fatal blows which fail to kill the opponent charge the weapon for a fraction of what it would normally accomplish as the blade will only draw the maximum power from a being that it kills with its strike. Also, the threat of killing too many beings too quickly or drawing too much power into the blade is also a danger, potentially causing it to short circuit, requiring the entire tail to reboot, taking a couple of potentially crucial yet painstaking and awkward moments.
