This will leave affected in a severely weakened state for the duration of the battle and although they may survive the battle, it is only a matter of time until they die once the battle concludes.

Remove this. It is up to the other writer to decide how their character's are effected.

The only species swamp gas can kill in seconds are gungans.

Just briefly describe the general span of time the gas lingers before it is no longer as deadly.
