OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Created for the next generation of Helix starfighters, the Hemlock is designed around powerful but unstable Otherplasma energies.
Within this arcane-looking device is a sizzling multicore consisting of six KBR Otherplasma generators, kept working in concert. Given the exceptional power generation capabilities of these systems, it comes as no surprise that KLZ possesses a top speed and acceleration capacity well in excess of most competitors. Additionally, the engine can be configured to accept more of these power cores, improving performance even more.
When in operation, the engines eject a stream of teal-colored exhaust, along with a high-pitched, oddly-modulated shriek. This earsplitting wail is unceasing throughout the engine's operation, and it is hard to miss it in-atmosphere.
The Hemlock's capabilities are as versatile as they are mighty; the engine is capable of propelling a fighter through vacuum, atmosphere, or even water or other liquids.
Unlike many factory-made engines, the Hemlock also comes standard with a user-accessible overclock function. The resultant performance boost can improve top speed by a further 20%, but introduces a variety of significant hazards to both the attached vehicle and the pilot (if any). These range from radiation leaks to engine detonation, any of which can be fatal. As such, ill-trained or reckless pilots can find themselves very dead, very quickly, without even having the chance to meet the enemy.

- Excellent Top Speed and Acceleration
- Overclock Feature
- Operable Underwater
- Operable In-Atmosphere
- Adjustable Performance
- Top Gun: The Hemlock's acceleration and top speed are among the best available (in some cases more so than a living pilot can survive).
- Omni-Spectrum: The Hemlock can propel a fighter through vacuum, atmosphere, or aquatic environments with equal ease.
- Overclock: The Hemlock can briefly remove its built-in safety limiters, greatly increasing performance.
- Unstable: The Hemlock's operation is finicky, and incautious use can result in the engine becoming damaged or destroyed (most often doing the same to its operator).
- Loud: While not a huge concern in vacuum, the Hemlock is ill-suited for use on atmospheric stealth craft, as no amount of sound-dampeners will quite stifle the noise.
