The hologram flickered to life, and the somber face of Jedi Master Katarine Ryiah appeared before the Council. Her once vibrant eyes, a deep shade of green, now carried a veil of sorrow and fatigue. Her dark robes hung loosely around her shoulders, a stark contrast to the composed and confident Jedi she had once been before Order 66. She took a moment to steady herself, her breath slow and deliberate, before she began speaking, her voice laced with a deep sadness.

"Honorable Members of the Jedi Counci, many of you know that since my arrival in this galaxy six months ago I have worked to rejoin the ways of the Jedi. So much has changed since I fought in the Clone Wars. In those days the Jedi served the Republic because it was the one government that incorporated most of the galaxy, making it the logical role for us to be peacekeepers for the galaxy. The Jedi Order was once a single strong and powerful tradition but today I find that has changed. The Jedi are scattered among the galaxy, in separate groups, many not serving any Council and those that do serve their own versions, not one unified council. There are entire Jedi organizations that pledge allegiances to different forms of government and work tirelessly to power the war machine of those nations. It is strange to me, and since joining The New Jedi Order I've been trying to adjust to all the differences I see. I've tried to do my part in the war effort of The Galactic Alliance but the endless battles weigh heavily on my mind. I worry that in the centuries I was frozen the galaxy has yet to find peace. I now question my place among the galaxy and find myself wishing to reconnect with the Force, instead of the war."

She felt her voice waver and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. This was a feeling that had been building for so long. After over nine hundred years the galaxy was still fighting and Katarine had grown disillusioned with it all. She was no longer certain that this was her path to help the galaxy.

"I regret that I am unable to do this in person. I need to find my place among the scattered Jedi Orders of this galaxy, and though I know my true purpose is as an investigator I question to which group my alliance must be pledged. The New Jedi Order has done so much for me. They gave me a home after my carbonation sickness and a new purpose in this time. I wish to thank Master Valery Noble especially. Her guidance has been beneficial to showing me this new galaxy."

At the mention of Valery Kat's voice cracked and she had to take another deep breath. Her time at the home of Valery and Kahlil had made Katarine feel as if she truly had friends. She didn't know what she would have done without their help or the friendship of Connel Vanagor. Even now as she battled uncertainty and addiction she felt tears trying to form at the thought of leaving these three individuals. They truly meant so much to her.

"With a heart that feels both heavy and empty, I must inform you that I have taken the Barash Vow. The Force is a constant, a guiding presence and I feel I need to refocus on it in order to find my way in this strange new timeline I find myself in. I hope that after my journey is over I can stand before you as a Jedi companion once more. Until then, May the Force be with you."

With one last hollow and longing glance from those deep green eyes the holographic recording flickered and shut off, leaving a heavy silence in its wake.

Kuhbee was born into a time of uncertainty on Kashyyyk, a planet where the majestic trees of the Wookiees' homeland cast shadows over both the wild and the complicated social fabric of the tribes. He was different from his peers in more ways than one—young, but already showing signs of an unusual sensitivity to the Force. Unlike the other Wookiees, who connected to the natural world through strength and instinct, Kuhbee felt the subtle currents of the Force as if they were a second nature. But this gift would bring him no comfort, only peril.
The tragic incident that would shape his life occurred when Kuhbee was still an adolescent. One night, after a celebration marking the harvest season, the body of a young Wookiee from a neighboring clan was found in the forest—brutally murdered, the signs of a dark, unnatural force upon the scene. The tribe's elders were quick to lay blame on Kuhbee, their reasoning rooted not just in circumstance but in fear. As the only Force-sensitive Wookiee in the tribe, he was an outsider in their eyes, and his abilities—especially when unexplained—were seen as a potential threat. Kuhbee swore to the council that he sensed a dark presence surrounding the murder, something sinister that none of the elders could perceive. He claimed the work of a shadowy force, beyond the reach of ordinary Wookiee senses, had taken the life of the young Wookiee. But to the others, it was a mere excuse.
Unable to convince anyone of his innocence or the existence of the dark presence, Kuhbee was blamed for the death. His tribe, in their fear and confusion, cast him out. Exiled from his people and separated from the only home he had ever known, Kuhbee set out on a path of self-discovery and redemption. As he made his way off Kashyyyk, however, fate had yet more cruelty in store. His ship was ambushed by pirates in the deep reaches of space, and the young Wookiee was captured and sold into slavery.
For years, Kuhbee fought in brutal gladiatorial arenas, his raw strength and Force sensitivity making him a prized combatant. Despite the bloodshed and violence, Kuhbee retained his sense of compassion, secretly using his knowledge of herbs and berries to treat the wounds of fellow fighters in the camps at night. He didn't see them as enemies but as fellow souls trapped in the same cycle of violence. Every night, while the others slept, Kuhbee would quietly heal their wounds, even if only temporarily, hoping for some semblance of peace.
But the specter of the dark presence still haunted him. He could feel it whispering through the Force, pushing him towards answers he could not yet grasp. It was not until a fateful escape from his captors—after years of enduring the violence and suffering of the arena—that Kuhbee set his sights on a new goal. He would seek out the Jedi, the keepers of the Force, in hopes they could help him better understand his power and confront the darkness that had shadowed his life. He believed that only by mastering his abilities and understanding the nature of the dark presence could he clear his name and, one day, return to his tribe.
Kuhbee knew that redemption would not come easily. He had been exiled, branded a murderer by those who once called him kin. But his heart burned with the desire to prove his innocence, to reclaim his honor, and to ensure that the dark force that had caused so much suffering was eradicated for good. With nothing but his wits, his strength, and his connection to the Force, Kuhbee set out into the galaxy—an outcast, a warrior, and a Wookiee seeking the path to redemption.

Yakety Yak was once the assistant of an unknown male researcher from the Mephout species. The researcher needed a translation droid and did not want to use the usual droids his species used because those droids were all built in the female image. After years of faithful service Yakety was lost during a research expedition and little is known about the droids activities until he one day ended up in the gladiatorial pits. In the pits the droid would translate for the various slaves force to fight and the slavers who would place bets on the fights. When a young Wookie named Kuhbee was thrown into the pits he rescued the droid. Greatful for the rescue, Yakety Yak befriended Kuhbee and agreed to be the cubs personal translation unit from then on.

Kuhbee sat in the common room of the Jedi Temple, his broad, furry ears twitching as he listened intently to the holo-net news broadcast. The image of the holo-reporter flickered and buzzed, but the words that followed cut through the air like a blade.

"…The Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders have launched a brutal attack on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. Their primary target: the Shyyyo's Heart Tribe, long known for their resistance against Mandalorian encroachment. The tribe, which remains fiercely independent, has been struck with heavy casualties. Reports are unclear, but it is confirmed that the attack has caused widespread devastation..."

Kuhbee's heart dropped into his stomach. His fur bristled with fear and anger. The Shyyyo's Heart Tribehis tribe. He had been exiled from the clan years ago, cast out for a misunderstanding which seemed far less important to him now. But they were his people. His family, his brothers and sisters, still lived on Kashyyyk. What if they were under attack right now? What if his parents—his mother—had been caught in the crossfire? His mind spun in a haze of panic. He tried to focus, but all he could hear was the pounding of his own heartbeat, echoing in his ears.

The other young padawans were scattered around the room, engaged in their own quiet conversations or meditative practices, unaware of the storm brewing inside Kuhbee. His fingers, thick with Wookiee fur, clenched and unclenched around the edge of the table. His claws scraped against the surface, leaving deep gouges in the wood. His breathing grew more erratic.

The pain in his chest was unbearable. He needed to do something—anything. He couldn't sit there, helpless, waiting for news that might never come. Kuhbee let out a guttural, anguished roar that rattled the walls of the common room, his primal instincts taking over. The tables flew into the air with a loud crash, sending chairs scattering as if they were toys. Padawans screamed and scrambled for cover, their faces filled with terror. A few tried to reach out, their hands trembling, but Kuhbee was beyond control.

"Kuhbee!" One of the padawans shouted in fear, his voice cracking. "We need help!"

Within moments, the sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway, and several Jedi Knights arrived, their lightsabers already ignited. They stood back, wary of the Wookiee's immense size and strength. The room was in chaos, and it was clear that Kuhbee's mind had given way to sheer panic and fury.

"Calm him down," one of the knights said, his voice firm.

With swift precision, one of the Jedi threw a sedative dart, striking Kuhbee in the side of his neck. The young Wookiee gasped, his muscles locking up, and his vision began to blur. His roar softened to a guttural whimper as he fell to his knees, the weight of his emotions crashing down on him like a tidal wave. His head hung low, and his fur trembled.

The Jedi Knights surrounded him, their expressions a mixture of concern and restraint. Kuhbee could feel the effects of the sedative taking hold, but the haze in his mind only deepened. The anger, the worry, the fear for his tribe—they still burned within him, but his body refused to cooperate. His face contorted with the weight of his grief.

His heart ached for Kashyyyk, for his people. The loss of his family was a shadow hanging over him. He had been exiled, yes, but that didn't mean he had stopped caring. If anything, the distance had only sharpened his love for his tribe. But what if they were gone? What if it was too late?

As the sedative worked its magic, Kuhbee slowly slumped to the floor, tears mixing with the fur on his face. His mind felt like it was in a haze of grief and anger, too much to process at once. He was no longer the youngling who had been cast aside. He was a Wookiee, a son of Kashyyyk, and right now, he was broken.
