Just trying to figure it out
Strengths
Lightsaber Combat - Katarine is gifted with a lightsaber and always training to better her combat skills.
Investigation & Stealth - As a Jedi Investigator Katarine specializes in undercover work.
Weaknesses
Darkside Kryptonite - As a metahuman Katarine has a mutation in her blood that causes her to be weak against the darkside. When in the presence of a darksider she feels dizzy and lightheaded, very much like Superman does in the presences of Kryptonite. This effect is multiplied if the darksider makes physical contact with her.
Piloting - Katarine is a subpar pilot and prefers not to fly if she can help it.
Kindess - Kat wears her heart on her sleeve, which can be very dangerous for a Jedi.
Lightsabers
During her padawan training Katarine went to Ilum to find the crystals contained in her lightsabers. She selected two sets of crystals that were bled by Sith in order to make strong dark weapons however because Katarine is weakened by the darkside (Darkside Kryptonite) she needed to purify the crystals before she could use them. She was able to purify one crystal set completely but the second crystal still contains some darkside energy, meaning she can only use it for a short period of time before it weakens her.
Katarine specializes in wielding two blades, each contained two crystals. Each weapon has a dual-phase mechanism, which allows her to switch from one crystal to the other with a turn of the hilt, thus lengthening the blade. When the blades are in their standard form they are white, average length and utilizing the purified crystal, but when the hilt is rotated the blades lengthen and utilize the crystal that still has some residual dark energy This dark energy turns the blade pink and can only be used for a short time before Kat must switch her weapon back to it's original form.

During her university life, Holly produced several more audio shows, as well as a few holo video segments and documentaries. She started writing for The Coronet Times, a local downloadable publication that reported news for Coronet City. During her career for The Coronet Times Holly won several holo journalism awards and was a star reporter for the publication. She remained at the Correlian paper for a few years before she decided to try her hand at galactic wide news.

Marnie Sango is a female Jedi and a member of the Jedi Exploration Corps. She specializes as a Jedi Seeker and a Jedi Hunter. Marnie is a female Jedi born on the planet Kiffex. Kiffex had rich soil, giving it the potential to become a major agriculture producing planet. Most of the population were farmers, including the Sango Clan. Her parents worked on a large corporate owned farm that harvested fruit and raised various species of fish an animals. While most of Marneens family was content with a simple life of farming she never felt like it fit her. Marnie was always befriending the animals on the farm and when it came time to say goodbye her heart would be devastated. As a little girl she tried running away and setting the animals free, an action that greatly angered her father. As punishment she was banished from working with the animals and sent out to the fields. Due to the intense labor the fields required younger children didn't often work out there.
Life in the fields was marginally for Marnie better than life at the farmstead. She didn't make friends easily because most of the workers were teenagers or young adults and due to her youth she couldn't lift a lot of what was needed, or reach the higher crops. What was nice about life in the fields was that for the first time Marnie was close to the woods. She often sneak off into the woods to explore the area. This upset the other workers, who felt she was not doing her share of the work, but for the first time her life Marneen felt like she could be herself.
Outside the farm were wild jungles, steep cliffs, acres of forests, streams, and caves all waiting to be explored. Marnie's adventures took her to all of them and soon she started bringing home local specimens in jars so she could study them at night. She kept notes and journals of all of her adventures but when her family found them they scolded the little girl. Marnie was forced to hide her research notes in a cave so she could continue exploring the planet by night.
Her future seemed doomed to end in a life of farming until one day a group of Jedi Seekers landed on the planet to look for promising talent to join the Jedi Order. The Jedi allowed any who wanted to take the test and Marnie eagerly volunteered. The Jedi could sense the Force with the young girl but they were not certain if she was strong enough to take with them. When they discovered Marnie's research however they were impressed and decided to take her to the temple on Coruscant.
During her time as a youngling Marnie worked hard and did her best to make friends, but life was hard inside the academy. She was used to being outside all of the time as her clan slept under the stars, but here the Jedi were given dormitories to sleep in and classrooms to learn in. She felt restless and claustrophobic most of the time. Her escape soon became the temple gardens were she could be outside and meditate. These feelings frightened Marnie because she worried that she truly was cut out for nothing more than the life of a farmer. Despite missing her family she had no desire to return home and work the fields. There had to be some other way.
After a few years it was time to take the Jedi Initiate Trials. The first test was designed to test one's knowledge of the Jedi Code. A vital part of Jedi teachings, the Code was reviewed over and over throughout an Initiate's life, typically everyday during meditation or class. If an Initiate did not memorize the mantra, then they would no longer be a member of the Order. Marnie had no trouble reciting the code and passed this test easily.
The second test was to construct a lightsaber from crystals the young Jedi would harvest themselves. The younglings were taken to the crystal caves on Ilum. The trip was a true Joy to Marnie. She would be leaving the four walls of the temple on Coruscant at last and even better they were going to explore outdoor caves. When they reached the caves the Jedi Instructor told the younglings they were on their own and that part of the test was the ability to navigate the caves and return safely with their chosen crystal. Marnie couldn't have been happier as she ventures into the caves. The darkness was not frightening to the little girl. She enjoyed the cool air on her face and the sound of running water deep in the caves. As her eyes adjusted to the light she saw the stalagmites clumped together and the various chambers and felt a rush of adrenaline. Here was a whole new world to explore. The only issue was the other younglings were hesitant to leave the well worn path through the cave. It took some convincing to get the others to follow her but eventually Marnie lead the team of young Jedi into one of the chambers.
What happened next almost ruined her entire Jedi career. During the exploration one of the Jedi younglings raced ahead, ignoring Marneens warnings about the ground being unsteady. This caused a cave in and all of the younglings were thrown down a tunnel as rocks slid and forced them further down. When the dust settled they were trapped, their exit blocked by the fallen rubble. One padawan was seriously injured and could not put weight on their leg. Marnie fashioned a splint for the student and told them that they could follow the moss on the rocks to find the northern portion of the cave, since that was where the crystal chamber was on the maps they had seen in class.
When the young Jedi made it back to the crystal chambers they found Jedi waiting for them and rushed into an explanation. Marnie worried she would be thrown out of the order but was surprised to hear her fellow initiates telling the Knights that it was only because Marnie knew how to find true north that they were able to find their way back. The Council debated on what to do with Marnie because she had saved her fellows, but had also been the reason for their wanderings in the first place. Ultimately the Council decided to let Marnie take the third test, but decided she would be given a different test than the others.
For the third test Marnie was asked to retrieve an ancient artifact from a tomb by herself. The other initiates were not at all jealous of this assignment. Traditionally the third task students would usually be assigned to perform a specific yet simple task, such as solving a judicial case or providing aid to a citizen in need, but a trip to a sealed tomb was dangerous and unheard of. Marneen did not share her peers fear however. She was excited for the opportunity to explore a new area.
The mission took the young girl one week to complete and she never spoke about what happened during it. When she returned to Coruscant with the artifact the Council was impressed. They announced that she had passed her Jedi initiate tests. The next step was to be selected as a padawan, which meant entering the Jedi Temple Apprentice Tournament. This was a scary thought for Marnie, who did not excel at lightsaber combat. She was terrified that failing the tournament would get her sent to the Agricultural Corps, and thus back to a life of farming.
Marnie only lasted a few rounds into the tournament, and was eliminated after facing only three opponents. Distraught, and convinced this would mean a life sentence of farming, she considered leaving the Jedi Order completely. When the tournament had ended the initiates were given their assignments. Shockingly Marnie learned she had been chosen as a padawan by a Jedi Researcher named Master Crix. Crix wanted a research assistant for field research and had been impressed by the journals that Marnie had kept on Kiffex. Marneen gratefully accepted her new role and started to train under Master Crix.
For most of her training she served alongside the Exploration Corps, working with Master Crix on various research assignments. When the war with The Brotherhood of the Maw called Master Crix away Marnie was left behind to continue working on research. She never entered the battlefield with her master and when she received word that Crix had passed during battle the young girl was devastated.
She is now still serving the Exploration Corps and it remains unclear if the Council will allow Marnie to take the trials to knighthood.

Marnie is a female Jedi born on the planet Kiffex. Kiffex had rich soil, giving it the potential to become a major agriculture producing planet. Most of the population were farmers, including the Sango Clan. Her parents worked on a large corporate owned farm that harvested fruit and raised various species of fish an animals. While most of Marneens family was content with a simple life of farming she never felt like it fit her. Marnie was always befriending the animals on the farm and when it came time to say goodbye her heart would be devastated. As a little girl she tried running away and setting the animals free, an action that greatly angered her father. As punishment she was banished from working with the animals and sent out to the fields. Due to the intense labor the fields required younger children didn't often work out there.
Life in the fields was marginally for Marnie better than life at the farmstead. She didn't make friends easily because most of the workers were teenagers or young adults and due to her youth she couldn't lift a lot of what was needed, or reach the higher crops. What was nice about life in the fields was that for the first time Marnie was close to the woods. She often sneak off into the woods to explore the area. This upset the other workers, who felt she was not doing her share of the work, but for the first time her life Marneen felt like she could be herself.
Outside the farm were wild jungles, steep cliffs, acres of forests, streams, and caves all waiting to be explored. Marnie's adventures took her to all of them and soon she started bringing home local specimens in jars so she could study them at night. She kept notes and journals of all of her adventures but when her family found them they scolded the little girl. Marnie was forced to hide her research notes in a cave so she could continue exploring the planet by night.
Her future seemed doomed to end in a life of farming until one day a group of Jedi Seekers landed on the planet to look for promising talent to join the Jedi Order. The Jedi allowed any who wanted to take the test and Marnie eagerly volunteered. The Jedi could sense the Force with the young girl but they were not certain if she was strong enough to take with them. When they discovered Marnie's research however they were impressed and decided to take her to the temple on Coruscant.
During her time as a youngling Marnie worked hard and did her best to make friends, but life was hard inside the academy. She was used to being outside all of the time as her clan slept under the stars, but here the Jedi were given dormitories to sleep in and classrooms to learn in. She felt restless and claustrophobic most of the time. Her escape soon became the temple gardens were she could be outside and meditate. These feelings frightened Marnie because she worried that she truly was cut out for nothing more than the life of a farmer. Despite missing her family she had no desire to return home and work the fields. There had to be some other way.
After a few years it was time to take the Jedi Initiate Trials. The first test was designed to test one's knowledge of the Jedi Code. A vital part of Jedi teachings, the Code was reviewed over and over throughout an Initiate's life, typically everyday during meditation or class. If an Initiate did not memorize the mantra, then they would no longer be a member of the Order. Marnie had no trouble reciting the code and passed this test easily.
The second test was to construct a lightsaber from crystals the young Jedi would harvest themselves. The younglings were taken to the crystal caves on Ilum. The trip was a true Joy to Marnie. She would be leaving the four walls of the temple on Coruscant at last and even better they were going to explore outdoor caves. When they reached the caves the Jedi Instructor told the younglings they were on their own and that part of the test was the ability to navigate the caves and return safely with their chosen crystal. Marnie couldn't have been happier as she ventures into the caves. The darkness was not frightening to the little girl. She enjoyed the cool air on her face and the sound of running water deep in the caves. As her eyes adjusted to the light she saw the stalagmites clumped together and the various chambers and felt a rush of adrenaline. Here was a whole new world to explore. The only issue was the other younglings were hesitant to leave the well worn path through the cave. It took some convincing to get the others to follow her but eventually Marnie lead the team of young Jedi into one of the chambers.
What happened next almost ruined her entire Jedi career. During the exploration one of the Jedi younglings raced ahead, ignoring Marneens warnings about the ground being unsteady. This caused a cave in and all of the younglings were thrown down a tunnel as rocks slid and forced them further down. When the dust settled they were trapped, their exit blocked by the fallen rubble. One padawan was seriously injured and could not put weight on their leg. Marnie fashioned a splint for the student and told them that they could follow the moss on the rocks to find the northern portion of the cave, since that was where the crystal chamber was on the maps they had seen in class.
When the young Jedi made it back to the crystal chambers they found Jedi waiting for them and rushed into an explanation. Marnie worried she would be thrown out of the order but was surprised to hear her fellow initiates telling the Knights that it was only because Marnie knew how to find true north that they were able to find their way back. The Council debated on what to do with Marnie because she had saved her fellows, but had also been the reason for their wanderings in the first place. Ultimately the Council decided to let Marnie take the third test, but decided she would be given a different test than the others.
For the third test Marnie was asked to retrieve an ancient artifact from a tomb by herself. The other initiates were not at all jealous of this assignment. Traditionally the third task students would usually be assigned to perform a specific yet simple task, such as solving a judicial case or providing aid to a citizen in need, but a trip to a sealed tomb was dangerous and unheard of. Marneen did not share her peers fear however. She was excited for the opportunity to explore a new area.
The mission took the young girl one week to complete and she never spoke about what happened during it. When she returned to Coruscant with the artifact the Council was impressed. They announced that she had passed her Jedi initiate tests. The next step was to be selected as a padawan, which meant entering the Jedi Temple Apprentice Tournament. This was a scary thought for Marnie, who did not excel at lightsaber combat. She was terrified that failing the tournament would get her sent to the Agricultural Corps, and thus back to a life of farming.
Marnie only lasted a few rounds into the tournament, and was eliminated after facing only three opponents. Distraught, and convinced this would mean a life sentence of farming, she considered leaving the Jedi Order completely. When the tournament had ended the initiates were given their assignments. Shockingly Marnie learned she had been chosen as a padawan by a Jedi Researcher named Master Crix. Crix wanted a research assistant for field research and had been impressed by the journals that Marnie had kept on Kiffex. Marneen gratefully accepted her new role and started to train under Master Crix.
For most of her training she served alongside the Exploration Corps, working with Master Crix on various research assignments. When the war with The Brotherhood of the Maw called Master Crix away Marnie was left behind to continue working on research. She never entered the battlefield with her master and when she received word that Crix had passed during battle the young girl was devastated.
She is now still serving the Exploration Corps and it remains unclear if the Council will allow Marnie to take the trials to knighthood.

Lightsabers
During her padawan training Katarine went to Ilum to find the crystals contained in her lightsabers. She selected two sets of crystals that were bled by Sith in order to make strong dark weapons however because Katarine is weakened by the darkside (Darkside Kryptonite) she needed to purify the crystals before she could use them. She was able to purify one crystal set completely but the second crystal still contains some darkside energy, meaning she can only use it for a short period of time before it weakens her.
Katarine specializes in wielding two blades, each contained two crystals. Each weapon has a dual-phase mechanism, which allows her to switch from one crystal to the other with a turn of the hilt, thus lengthening the blade. When the blades are in their standard form they are white, average length and utilizing the purified crystal, but when the hilt is rotated the blades lengthen and utilize the crystal that still has some residual dark energy This dark energy turns the blade pink and can only be used for a short time before Kat must switch her weapon back to it's original form.

This outfit served her well while she was doing undercover missions with the Jedi Investigators, and latter helped her hide her identity as a Jedi after Order 66. While she worked with the rebellion she would hide her lightsabers in her jacket or inside her boots to keep from revealing her true identity. After her arrival in the current time period Katarine stood out for wearing clothes that were a century out of fashion. Thanks to her new friends in the New Jedi Order she was gifted with a more updated version of Jedi attire. This new outfit features black boots, white pants, and a black tunic top.

Katarine Ryiah and her twin brother Daxium Ryiah were born to loving parents named Anastasia and Troy on the planet XXX in the year 44BBY. Her parents were members of an extremist Dark Jedi cult who believed in a prophecy surrounding the birth of twins. Convinced that Katarine and her twin brother Daxium were the fulfillment of this prophecy, the cult leader Lady Sinistra murdered Anastasia and Troy Ryiah mere minutes after the birth of the twins. Lady Sinistra took both of the children and raised them, teaching them the ways of the Force.

Growing up with Lady Sinistra was harsh and full of cruelty, but both of the twins did learn the ways of the Force under the dark woman's tutelage. Katarine did not accept the cults view of the Force, and struggled to embrace the darkside as was expected of her. While Daxium excelled in his teachings, Katarine lingered behind, causing a lot of anger in Lady Sinistra. In an attempt to turn Katarine to the darkside, Lady Sinistra injected her with Sith poison when the girl was only five years old. The poison did not have the intended effect on Kat. Instead of being pulled to the darkside she developed such an aversion to it that it made her physically ill if she was around it too often. Kat would get dizzy and weak if a darksider so much as touched her, and she could feel the dizzying effects if a darksider was too close. Enraged that this plan did not work, Lady Sinistra ordered Daxium to kill his sister. Unable to fulfill his master's wishes, Daxium helped fake Katarine's death so she could escape to the Jedi. Katarine begged her twin to come with her but he refused. Lady Sinistra had been the only mother Daxium had ever known and he was not willing to leave her.
When Katarine arrived at the Jedi Temple there was some concern about her age. At five years old she was a little older than most younglings. When Kat demonstrated a remarkable proficiency in the Force due to Sinistra's teachings however the Jedi did decide to let Katarine join. Katarine excelled quickly through her training and demonstrated an extreme defensive maturity in her mental capabilities.

Because of her advanced standing Katarine was selected as a padawan at only ten years old. Master Jessari Tanelorn took Katarine on as a padawan and began her training. Jessari and Katarine trained together for several years and during that time together they liberated an Ewok village from slavery, stopped a pirate's cruelty on Tantooine, and aided the Jedi Council in several investigative missions. Katarine proved to be a great Jedi Investigator with a keen eye for solving a mystery. After almost five years together Jessari was called away on an assignment and the elder Master Spark Vallen stepped in to assist Kat with her lightsaber construction. Kat proved skilled in lightsaber combat but she never demonstrated the aptitude with a blade as she had for the Force. Katarine's pure nature made her a shy warrior. She practiced each of the lightsaber forms to be a well-rounded duelist but Katarine was never a warrior at heart. With practice and dedication Katarine mastered these forms as best she could and was allowed to take her trials.

As a green Jedi Knight Kat was still unsure of her abilities. Her first confrontation came when she faced the alien Artemis Obuldi. Kat attempted to use the Force to drown Artemis but her inexperience with his odd technology made her unaware of the capabilities of his ooglith masqure. Artemis sealed off his airways and was about to strike Kat down when she was rescued by the Rebellion clone trooper, T.J 1884. Both Captain T.J and Kat retreated to a medical tent and were told their injuries would take weeks to repair by medical technicians with the limited tent supplies. During those weeks a small attraction evolved between Kat and T.J, mostly out of gratitude for each having saved the others life. Things never proved physical between the two, due to Kat's commitment to the Jedi Code and both left each other to return to the lives they were destined to lead. T.J 1184 continued his duties as a captain in the army and Katarine returned to the Jedi to start the training of a new generation.

Now at the age of sixteen Katarine was younger than most knights who took on a padawan but the council believed she was ready and assigned Mist Mayweather to be her first student. Mist Mayweather came to the Jedi as a young energetic woman looking to follow in the footsteps of her uncle Zeek who was a famous Jedi Knight. During the training of Mist the woman became friends with Katarine as most padawans tended to do, but Mist seemed to take things further with Katarine. Kat accepted the clinginess of her padawan and trained Mist in the standard protocol of Jedi abilities. Mist showed talents with telekinesis, which Kat worked extremely hard with the young woman to perfect. She chose to teach Mist the acrobatic style of lightsaber combat, but because of Mists easy attachment and vulnerable emotions, Kat would not teach her Juyo in fear that the emotions needed for this form would do more harm than good. During a mission to Ambria Kat and Mist discovered a hidden cave and hot springs, which produced the crystal Mist would need to construct her lightsaber. Mist proved capable of handling the trials but seemed hesitant to face them, despite Kat assuring her she was ready. Her refusal to accept the trials meant Kat would continue being her master for almost a year longer than most padawans were trained. During the tutelage Katarine found it difficult to separate the boundaries between master and friend. Mist often pushed these boundaries uncomfortably for Katarine, and even the refusal to let Katarine move on when the training was done left Kat uncertain what to do. She sought the aide of other masters, and upon their request decided to train another student even though Mist Mayweather had not taken the rank of Jedi Knight. It was the belief of the Council that this action would help Mist move forward, and also help Katarine expand her considerable skills as a Jedi teacher.

Still undecided on who her next student would be Kat was assigned to the Coruscant Senate chambers to protect the politicians against a feared assassination attempt. Her distaste of politicians was not unknown to the Council but they chose to send her despite her distaste of the assignment. During the investigation, Kat discovered two men were attempting to rob the Senate because of a bet. One of them was a young man named James Terran who charmed Kat with his flirting pirate ways. He attempted to lie to Kat as to why he was there but Kat saw through his lie and informed him she was a Jedi Knight. James chuckled and told her she was so pretty he would have never thought she was a Jedi since they were usually old men in robes. He kissed Kat on the cheek and then flung himself over the railing of the senate. Kat chased after him but he met up with his pirate captain and was gone before she had the chance to bring him in for questioning. After the encounter, Kat spent several sleepless nights thinking of the young blond man until finally, she ran a background check on him. The information told her he was the first mate aboard a pirate ship called the Emerald Lion and was wanted for a lot of petty crime throughout the galaxy. The records also indicated that he was not suspected of murder, which was uncommon for most pirates. Kat tried to push the young man out of her mind to focus on her duties but he invaded her dreams often. There was something about his face that was simply unforgettable to the woman.
Incredibly Kat met the young blond-haired pirate once more while she was in a tavern on Naboo, Kat was following a lead for a suspected terrorist when James sat down at her table with a lopsided grin on his face. Knowing she should arrest him, and yet not wanting to do so, Kat made small talk with the man and introduced herself. He was surprisingly open with her, telling her of his childhood in an orphanage on Dantooine. The caretaker of the orphanage, Kai Albi Gran had once been a Jedi and had noticed the talents of James as a young boy. When James had left the orphanage, he lied to Gran but the old man was wise to the pirate life the boy was pursuing. James promised that once he was ready, he would attempt to train as a Jedi because the old man had told of the strength in the Force James possessed. Kat told James that if he were ever to come to Naboo she would train him and help him keep his promise. The encounter between the two ended with a walk outside and a night of watching the sunset. James left Kat but told her he planned to return someday to keep his promise. Kat felt a flutter in her chest and sincerely hoped the man was telling the truth. She returned to the Temple once more to continue her path as a Jedi Investigator.
23BBY – 18BBYDuring the years that followed Katarine trained several more students, much to Mist Mayweathers annoyance. Mist still refused to take the Jedi trials and was becoming uncommonly clingy towards Katarine. While continuing to teach Mist, Katarine would go on to knight Ellion Corsair, Phylis Alince, and a young Twi'lek named Koga. The lack of attention from Katarine proved overwhelming for Mist Mayweather and the young woman fled the Jedi. Kat and the investigator team search to find Mist, and discovered that Mist had fallen into the hands of a darksider who performed genetic experiments on Mist. The team rescued padawan Mayweather and took her back to the Jedi. After finally convincing Mist Mayweather to take the trials and helping the young woman with the bizarre events that had turned her into a Cathar/Human hybrid, Katarine watched proudly as Mist Mayweather completed the trials of knighthood and became a Jedi Knight.
Now free of students, Kat decided it was time to find another trainee. She took a forth padawan named Aden Lothiar. Aden had a complicated past with the Sith Master named Lord Grimm. Kat found herself delaying her responsibilities to help Aden, and when she learned he was constructing a planet designed to produce genetically enhanced species she turned the other cheek in the hopes she could help the young man instead of letting him rot in a prison. Eventually, Aden fled the Jedi after being injured on a mission with Kat, and she left with him. He killed a few knights on his way out and Kat was suspected of being his accomplice. Aden took Kat to the planet he had been building and a complicated bonding took place between them. Eventually, Katarine escaped. She was separated from Aden and she spent several months looking for him. Kat learned that Aden was holding the empress of the planet hostage aboard her flagship. She went to find Aden and brought him back to the Jedi after separating her padawan from the spirit of Lord Grimm. She saved Aden Lothiar but the Sith Master Grimm was still out there, and this worried her.
Upon her return, she had to face a trial for her fugitive actions. The Council informed Katarine that she should have trusted them with her struggles and told them of Aden's past. They advised her to learn to depend on her friends and surprisingly offered her no punishment for her actions. After the hearing, Jedi Master Vohn Excel informed Katarine that she had earned the rank of Jedi Master. She learned a valuable lesson to trust her allies and friends and was welcomed and celebrated by many Jedi in the Order.

True to his word James showed up at the Jedi temple not long after her promotion to master and requested training. Kat accepted him as her padawan, despite his age, and because of her new rank the Council agreed to trust her instincts. The Clone Wars proved a good testing ground for the man's abilities but the unthinkable happened when Order 66 was issued. Katarine and her student James were on an investigative assignment when Order 66 was set so the pair managed to escape the purge. They went into hiding together, concealing their identities as Jedi and serving in the Rebellion that was starting to form. During their time together the two fell in love and with the Jedi destroyed Katarine allowed herself to form an attachment to James. The two married and retreated back to Datooine to raise a family together.
14BBYDuring her time on Dantooine Katarine was tracked down by her twin brother Daxium. Dax had survived the Great Purge by luck. By now the Empire was looking for all Force users, not just the Jedi, and Lady Sinistra had turned in her student Dax to gain favor with the Empire. Shocked by his mother figures betrayal, Daxium had fled to the world of Chalacta. He had arrived gravely inured and was nursed to health by a member of the Chalactan Adepts. The peaceful nature of the planet and the simple farming life of its people had helped to cleanse Daxium's soul and finally purge the darkness from his heart. Daxium had married the woman who nursed him back to health and the two had a family together now. Katarine welcomed her twin back in her life and together their families remained in hiding from the Empire. Katarine started to teach Daxium the ways of the Jedi during their exile.
12BBYWhen Lady Sinistra learned that her student escaped and that his twin was still alive, she vowed to find the pair. The Dark Jedi remained convinced that the twins were the fulfillment of the prophecy her cult believed in, and that any offspring produced would also be of great use to the cult. She began to track down the Ryiah family, determined to have them under her control once again.
Still tuned to his former master, Daxium had a Force vision of Lady Sinistra coming for his family. They knew that the Dark Jedi Master Sinistra could easily track the family through their strong connection to the Force. The only way to avoid this was to dim the Force signature of those in danger. Together Daxium and Katarine used the Force to put the family in stasis in a hidden location on Dantooine so that Katarine could confront Lady Sinistra. Both of the twins agreed that Daxium was too easily manipulated by Sinistra and that James was not yet skilled enough in his Jedi studies so it had to be Kat that confronted the dark Sinistra. With a heavy heart Katarine watched as her family entered stasis, vowing she would see them again.
Katarine left to track down Lady Sinistra and eventually the search lead both women to Naboo. Deep in the waters of the beautiful planet there was a secret prison that an old Gungan named Ceel had once shown Katarine. The galaxies most dangerous criminals were kept in cells and frozen in carbonite down there. Katarine lured Lady Sinistra to the prison and an duel broke out. Both women fought strongly but the duel ended with both women entering the carbon freezing chamber and both women being frozen.
897 ABY
Katarine remained frozen for the next 909 years until the The Cataclysm of Naboo destroyed the underwater prison, sending those frozen in carbonite to the surface. Many of the criminals who were trapped in the watery prison escaped as their freezing chambers were opened due to the neterworld events taking place on the planet. Katarine was discovered and taken to hospital on Naboo where she spent the next three years combating hybernation sickness. The hybernation sickness caused her to lose many of her memories, and forget that her family is waiting for her on Datooine. Once she was healthy enough she traveled to the New Jedi Order in search of answers and hopefully to restore her memory.
