Atlas Drake Atlas Drake 's words were heard not through Falkrowe's physical body but through the latter's presence around the captain's mind.

Sure. The simple word was all he could muster to telepathically deliver to Drake.

Expanding his presence away from the allied forces, the additional courage and precision fading away as Jude Falkrowe aggressively wrapped himself around the imperials on the ground. Tapping into the primal locked deep within their consciousness, he smashed through the gates unleashing the beast. Those of weaker mind fortitude had their will bent to the agent's intervention and chaos ensued within the ranks of the imperial defenders as various different soldiers began firing at their own.

"We have started moving towards the surface base!"

"Send two squadrons of endurance bombers and two squadrons of fighter escort!"

With a second destroyer about to bite the dust, the enemy Resurgent at the core of the wedge was now much more vulnerable, especially with debris that were attracted to vital spots on the enemy flagship via interdictors; this resulted in engines taking damage, and a few firepower kills, but not enough of each to leave the ship either mobility-killed or firepower-killed. Also, because the fighters in regular configuration were out of ordnance, they returned to ship for the next phase of the battle. Fortunately, with this unorthodox method to carry out bombing runs, it wouldn't take as long as it would otherwise to get the craft ready for battle again. Just that some debris may have hit enemy escorts as well: it was a matter of firing another volley at these escorts Meanwhile, the sickbay was busy tending to the wounded from, well, different ships that took damage. She had to grant as much to the Dosuun Hegemony: they may have been affiliated with the Sith, at least they didn't fire at medvac craft. Once the four squadrons of attack craft were forming up, then the descent started so that they could begin attacking the main Dosuun Hegemony base on Varonat's surface, that which was the objective when the Alliance attacked Varonat the first time around.

Born standin' up and takin' back.
The transport landed, the ramp hit the ground with a loud thump and the Marines were out the door first. The sound of the battle was loud, explosion punctured the air and the hizz of debris falling around them was deafening. "Come on kid follow me", the first thing was to find cover and move out from there. As Eldin stepped off the transport, he entered in a complete field of chaos, bolts flying in all directions and he ran for the nearest cover with the kid behind him. "What the hell is goin' on?", he did not direct his question to anyone but himself, he doubt anyone could answer. He peaked out from behind cover to realise that the Imperial Troops were turning on each other, shouting and screaming orders which were not obeyed, cries of the injured calling for help were not answered and in among it all the OPA Marines spread out across the field.

But not all the Imperials had turned on themselves as fire screamed over the top of their cover, targeting the transport only a few yards away from his position. It would not be long before they would bring out launcher to deal with it and Eldin knew he and the kid were too close. "We gotta move", he turned to the Kid only to see his eyes had glazed over, whatever was doing this, whatever had turned the Imperials effected the kid next to him it seemed, although there was something in his eyes that told Eldin he was trying to fight it. The kid's hand shook as he raised the barrel of his gun with the intention of killing him. Eldin grabbed at his arm with his left hand, pushed it away just as the Kid pulled the trigger, his right hand punched the kid in the face snapping his head to the side. The sudden shock of it snapping the Kid out of the aggressive control that seeped into his mind.

"Snap outta it Billy". The kid looked bewildered, not recalling what he had just tried to do. "IN COMING!". Shout from a Marine. "Move!". Eldin grabbed the Kid by the scuff of the neck and scurried on all fours to the other side of the metal barrier as the Imperial launcher fired on the transport. The explosion rained down debris and dirt all over him, he could feel the heat from the flames and the shock wave pushed over the barrier. Adrenaline surged through his body, his sense of survival kicked in and Eldin stood up to draw on his guns, standing his ground and open fired on anything dressed in Imperial uniform. Beside him, the Kid unleashed round after round before running head long into the battle.

"Kark it", Eldin ran after him, the kid was going to get himself killed.

Probe telemetry cascaded through Shira's mind, courtesy of deep neural implants and some really nice iBorg piloting gear.

The obvious problem became inescapable: too much probe data, too little attention on the here and now. A warhead detonated less than twenty meters from the Higher Love. The little courier's instrument panel shrieked as shields blew away and hullmetal blistered. The system chucked Shira's mind out of probe analysis and put the damage front and centre.

"Therapy Command, this is the Higher Love. I've taken crippling damage. Get some hangar space ready for me if you've got it. Could probably use some tractor beam help too."

Major Caceres and a company of commandos would be dispatched to the Hegemony's flagship to take it from them and bring it back home. Beside him stood Captain Genovese and his platoon were headed for the assault transports. Their goal was to get to the naval base and strip the data, the rest could be left to the Alliance. There was so much at stake and yet so little time to take into account just what could go wrong. Caceres ordered his men to their boarding transports.
Klaxons wailed throughout the Concordia's hangar as the White Wolves readied for departure. Fighters of the 181st returned to the hangar for a refuel and a new assignment. Escort the transports and eliminate any hostiles along the way. Caceres waited until his men were seated before settling onto the main bench. "Gentlemen, strap and tuck," Caceres ordered as the five-point harnesses were deployed. These new transports were hell - they were set on the same catapult system that launched the fighters in the old days.
He could feel the transport jostle as the key locked into place. Caceres could hear the automated countdown, and the warnings to clear the launch area. All at once, the countdown struck zero and he had but a moment to hear that hiss. The hiss of the lock disengaging as it shot the transport out of the hangar. It was like being back on Papa's farm he imagined, with old slug throwers that had to be loaded in the front. The transport screamed through the void as it bolted for the old Resurgent. He gathered himself together mentally, he reminded himself that his goal was to ensure that the Hegemony's prize would be reduced to nothing but a trophy for the First Order.
Caceres' body felt the Gs and he could thank the suit he wore for keeping everything where it was supposed to be. Even if it felt as if his groin just shot up through his abdomen. "Approaching target, be ready," he ordered.
Those within the hangar only saw the fast-approaching transport. Too fast for automated defenses to target properly and thus it was left up to the Stormtroopers aboard to defeat the intruders. Caceres, on the other hand, had no quarrel with the Stormtroopers and wanted nothing more than to add to the numbers of the First Order. He wanted instead for the Hegemony to bleed, to bleed for every ounce of blood that the First Order lost during the Siege while these cowards left the rest of them to die.
Meanwhile, aboard the Concordia, Commander Tae Sun-Shin informed Yvarro on their status with Varonat.
"Alliance forces are moving to the ground," an officer reported.
"Do the natives have access to the base?" Sun-Shin inquired.
"Not that I know of."
"Give it to them," Sun-Shin ordered, "relay to Captain Genovese, give the base to the Krish in exchange for the data."
"Commander?"
The poor sod seemed rather confused and thus the Commander explained. "We no longer hold any sovereign claim over these territories, and while we could burn it - it would be in poor taste and leave a rather grim look on what we're attempting to achieve." She took in a breath and looked toward the officer directly. "We want them, to want us. Give them the base, inform them that this Alliance is no different from the Galactic Alliance."
The officer nodded and began to relay the information to Captain Genovese who was by now nearing the planet's atmosphere. Whilst the Home Fleet finished off what was left of the Hegemony's Forces, Commander Sun-Shin thought on what to do with the current Alliance forces before her.

Born standin' up and takin' back.
Billy and Eldin’s small victory did not last. The Alliance marines where making head way into the battle and the rebels pushed up behind them, able to spread out in their wake and head toward the base. The way things were going that would take control of it soon enough.

Although there was a slight pause in the battle, imperials regrouping and trying to deal with the apparent insurrection as well as the Alliance, soon established themselves to continue even though the fight was on several fronts now. Whatever was happening to their troops on ground continued, little by little more came under the influence of negative influence probing their minds. It was a very dangerous melting pot.

In the distance the sound of fighters, but before that the ground was shot to pieces with lazer fire from fighters screaming in to give transports cover. Eldin ran for cover once more, as the lazers tore up the ground and anything that stood in its way. The fighters screamed over head low to the ground, several of which taken out by the Alliance but, they did their job as transports touched down.

BATTLE OF VARONAT - SPACE

"They're breaking," Atlas announced when he was certain it was no deception, "We've routed the Hegemony battle lines."

Three remaining heavily damaged Vanquishers were waging a fighting retreat. Captain Drake ordered his fighter squadrons to pursue them to the edge of the system but give no further chase. The OPA had interdiction frigates set up along the Ison Corridor waiting to drop the net. Fleeing Hegemony warships would face capture or lose themselves hopelessly in the Ivax Nebula. A ragged cheer broke out on the bridge.

It had been a hard fought battle and they'd taken losses. From the looks of the Higher Love as she limped to safety Captain Shira Varanin could say the same. Her crew would be well taken care of by Therapy Command, Atlas knew Cathul Thuku Cathul Thuku would see to that.

"Signal Empress Kimiko Taiyou Kimiko Taiyou our gratitude. The Greater Javin will remember her people's valor here today."

But this wasn't over yet. Confident that the Beyond was under no immediate threat the captain reconfigured his holotable to display sensor recordings of the pitched battle for Varonat's naval base below. Alliance troops were making gains but at a bloody cost. Even Sinestra Sinestra could only do so much to disrupt planetside operations from up here in orbit.

"Sir, we're detecting an encrypted transmission from the unknown Resurgent."

Atlas took hold of the datapad. They couldn't decipher the message contents but it appeared to be directed to one of the native Krish settlements on the same continent. He frowned. Captain Drake couldn't begin to fathom what kind of internal politics at play had prompted such an apparent betrayal but he'd been hoping this new breed of Imperial (Resurgent Narrative) would depart once its business was concluded. In their battle weary state he did not relish the prospect of facing down another of the First Order's behemoths.

"There are Morodin tribes on Varonat, or there once were. See if we can get a message to any that remain. They likely hold little love for Imperials."

The Higher Love limped into a Therapy Command hangar and settled down. Then, as half its landing gear collapsed, it settled again. The jolt spiked up Shira's back unpleasantly. With a poleaxed "uhng," she sat back in her seat and cut the last connections between the ship and her neural implants.

"Call in," she yelled back. "How we doing?"

The OPA personnel and a few Cloud City Sentinels sounded off and reported varying degrees of injury. She ticked the names off her mental roster. The whole crew was alive and talking. She rubbed her eyes and unbuckled.

Medical crews and people with fire extinguishers swarmed the scarred freighter. As near as she could tell - and she'd just been hooked into all its systems - the Higher Love would be fine after a couple weeks of repairs at most.

Once all her people were safely offloaded to medical care or just a place to rest, Shira walked through the busy hangar and stood by the edge of the atmospheric field. The battle was striking, no question about it. Brilliant light gleaming on metal, colossal fireballs, flares of reactor breaches.

"Oh, it's beautiful."

"More wounded are coming in, admiral!" a medical officer reported, while the damaged Higher Love landed, inside a hangar, with its occupants being triaged for care.

"The enemy being in full retreat is of limited comfort here"

The remaining capital ships of the Dosuun Hegemony, three Vanquishers, took heavy damage; here she was lucky to have been on their aft quarter, and, knowing how most evil factions operated in regard to designing capital ships, it was something she could ruthlessly exploit on engagements, where the limping destroyers would drift with little or no power left, and their predictable trajectories left them vulnerable to one last volley of HVCs, hitting either their engines or their reactor cores. With these Dosuun Hegemony destroyers exploding in the distance, the reaction of the other First Order subfaction in the system remains to be seen. What is it with all these dark-sided factions just relying too much on these large ships? There's a reason why Therapy Command doesn't deploy capital ships willy-nilly, she thought, while the medical crews tended to the wounded elsewhere on the ship. Cathul knew the nightmare was far from over, and any gains made by the Alliance on the ground would be paid in blood, even with the support of the local Morodin tribes.

On the ground, Captain Genovese and his men headed toward the base contact would be made with the Krish. He met with them at the base of the mountain, the naval yards would be wasted but the mountain one seemed to be a better bet. He relayed to Commander Sun-Shin that the Krish wanted reassurances, reassurances that when the First Order returned their efforts would not be forgotten. An understandable want but one the Commander had not been expecting, although she should have. It was then that news had reached her ears that Major Caceres and his men had taken the Hegemony's Resurgent.
"How many fighters remain on the Hegemony's Resurgent?"
"Several, why?" Caceres' distorted voice returned on the communications.
"Dispatch them toward the base's landing zone, a gift for the Krish to prove our assurances."
"Understood."
Back at the meeting, Genovese informed the Krish that they would be given TIE Fighters as a physical token of their assurances. It seemed to do the trick as the Krish turned toward their people in what appeared to be a rallying cry. Genovese and his men then followed the Krish wordlessly into the mountain base's unmarked entrance. TIE Fighters would land at their designated zones based once the old beacons and homing devices were activated. In the meanwhile, Genovese's men began to download and wipe the data.
In the void above the planet of Varonat, Commander Sun-Shin regarded her options the Hegemony's forces had done quite a number on the opposition and admittedly it was tempting. "Once the last of the TIE Fighters from Hegemony's ship has been dumped, begin tug procedures we'll need to ensure this boat reaches Dosuun."
Commander Sun-Shin dispatched an encrypted message to Avalonia. A response was made in quick time, they were limited on resources so she'd have to use the ships available to her to bring it home. A check-in with Caceres, "she can be hyperspace worthy, we'll need a repair team and a damn good team of flight navs."
The Concordia moved across the void and held the Resurgent with her tractor beams, low intensity as to not crumble the hull. Docking procedures were initiated as an airlock tunnel emerged from the starboard side and made contact with the Resurgent. The Home Fleet created a spherical formation above and below the two behemoths their weapons faced the Alliance. A precautionary measure as the Resurgent underwent what they liked to call Spacer's Tape Repair Job, which meant everything would be cobbled together with just enough spacer's tape to get through the jump from Varonat to Mephout then onto Dosuun.
Genovese would make contact again, the job had been completed and the men were on their way back to the Concordia. Time would pass and Sun-Shin turned her attention to preparing the Home Fleet for the trip, she reminded them that on this day they sent a clear message to the Hegemony. "Our brothers and sisters perished not so the Hegemony could profit off the reconstruction, but so that others might live. So that the very ideals that Grand Moff Fortan worked so hard to instill would continue. These so-called imperialists within the Hegemony claim to carry on our banner, but as we have seen they know nothing of us. Nothing of our suffering, nothing of our dead they left when we needed them most."
"On this day, we make it clear, the First Order has returned and we will not be the puppet of another faction, or another Force User."
"Remember the Grand Moff," Sun-Shin stated as an end to her speech that punctuated the sentiment aboard the Concordia. Sun-Shin was given word that the Resurgent's repairs were complete. The two ships would disengage from one another and jump coordinates would be calculated, the Home Fleet repositioned themselves for the jump. When all vessels reported ready for the jump, the Commander gave the order. "Engage."
In an instant, the First Order and their newest trophy jumped into hyperspace on their way home, the long way around.

Commander Takami loosed a sigh of relief as the Remnant ships, their trophy in tow, jumped out of system. All around the bridge the Nagato the Sakurans cheered, a mix of human and non-human noises. She would make sure to note the direction of their withdrawal and save it for later.

After several moments, the crew returned to normal operations,"Alright folks, we're not finished just yet. Move the fleet into screening formation. I want the gunboats and fighters to take a patrol to the far side and back to ensure we're alone up here. Dispatch teams to collect any survivors and intel we can get ahold of. Reach out to Therapy Command and see if they need help. And get me an update on the ground now!" she keyed her personal comm to Captain Drake,"Captain, a congratulations is in order for the Alliance. I would like to discuss the resurgence of the First Order forces that apparently assisted us here. Anything our teams find, we'll let you know. Let me know if you need us for anything."

She sat back and awaited an answer and took a long draw from her caf cup and watched her ships begin to form up and fighter and bomber squadrons formed up to begin their patrols.
