Kill All Robots (TEC - Ord Mantell)

Mara scowled from the ship... She had forced all of her troops to go against their urges to use only swords and equip damn ion weapons... Droids were not to be underestimated, sure you could slice through them with a good sword but why give them a chance to get that close when they expected do damn many of them. She grimaced at the numbers from the first wave of ground troops.. but it looked like things were improving as they began to get emplaced, the droids seemed intent on killing. Mara ordered her men to begin to move out, as she deployed yet more. It was a beautiful site watching troops deploy, their drop ships flying down. She wished she could join them... maybe she would find a way to.. set up a mobile base that was just unsafe enough to give her action... She smirked as she looked at the screen, movements seemed good. " All units on the ground, Please report your status. " and reports became flying in... her various command staff were compiling the numbers for her.

"Khonsu One, break right!" She was flying directly at the fellow fighter, about to crash into it head on. This was intentional, though, as there was a Tri-fighter on One's tail, and there wasn't anyone else to deal with it. Khonsu One broke to the right, and she zipped through the space just vacated, cannons firing away and splashing the droid fighter into thousands of tiny pieces of debris which her fighter zipped through swiftly. She pushed the engines to full combat speed and soared through the battlefield, taking in the sights around her and searching for the next enemy that would come under her guns. So far they'd done a relatively good job of mopping up the droid fighter craft. There were only a few left that she could see.

"Grand Overseer, we're getting reports that the ground battle has intensified. Much of the enemy fighter craft have been dispatched."

Janira reached for her comms and flipped to the ground frequency. "High Protector Thorn, this is Grand Overseer Fenni. Get all troops landed at once. I'm heading to the surface to assist." She inverted the right yoke and the fighter turned in a roll towards the planet. Pushing the fighter to full sublight speed, she slammed through her fellow fighters and into the atmosphere. As soon as she broke through and saw what was going on below her, she realized that this battle was much greater than she'd expected it to be. There were a lot more droids than there should have been. A heck of a lot more. Rolling her fighter down, she strafed a line of droids, but had to break away when some surface to air fire came her way. Instead of keeping at it, she began to search for a landing zone.

The creature wasn't coming for her. Or, at least, it hadn't yet. This gave her the time that she needed to work. She made some modifications to the weapons with parts that she managed to rummage from the debris field. In the meantime, more and more droids were pouring out of the massive piles of junk. They continued stride towards the battle going on outside the junk piles.

There was a difference now, though. All of the droids looked the same. In fact, all of the droids were IG-100 MagnaGuard's. This would no doubt prove to be an interesting fact for the Echani warriors that were busy fighting the droids. Especially considering these droids were especially made to be hand to hand droids capable of taking on even Jedi in the days of the Old Republic war with the Separatists. They might even prove a challenge for the Force users in the bunch.

She'd had the time she needed to finish the blaster rifle. It was now a double rifle with a stutter setting, making it harder to predict the time between shots. She trotted along with the IG-100's until she came out of the junk field to join them in battle against the Echani. Retinal units scanned for @[member="Velok"] until they found him. Lifting the rifle, she depressed the trigger, opening fire on his position.

Most danger-sense relied on feeling others' intentions and emotions. For many Jedi or Sith, a droid with a sniper rifle would spell a quick and easy defeat.

But others relied on a vague sense of what might happen in the next few seconds. Velok had categorized and explored both senses, and in any case he was slightly adrift in time thanks to the Aing-Tii in the Kathol Outback. He sidestepped the blasterfire, lightsabre working to catch the majority of the bolts and send them back in the general direction of the enemy. Reflected blasterfire splashed into the ranks of MagnaGuards, and his eyes narrowed as he pondered the oncoming horde. Their weapons would be a match for his lightsabre, even if a blaster shot hadn't put a hole through his right shoulder.

"Cover," he growled. "I need...cover."

By his side, his right hand -- durasteel beneath a glove -- flexed, and a handful of MagnaGuards crushed together into one sparking, immobile lump. He crouched behind that lump, taking shelter from the ranged fire, as he kept the other MagnaGuards from flanking him. He did so mostly with short bursts of lightning, controlled enough that they didn't simply ground out on the electrostaves. A low perimeter of electrocuted droids began to surround the Sith Master.

Mara sighed, It was the overseer's orders, " waves 3 and 4 drop now" She didn't like to put all her eggs in one basket but she did so. Mara jumped in the last gunship. The good thing about gunships is they cleared the landing zone, She watched as the base was deployed, really just a large metal frame build out of heavy materials meant to set up some sort of perimeter. She watched as it slowly lowered down, and she jumped off her ship. It was time, Mara began to fire into the droids that remained, With 2 waves here the landing would be clear in no time, and then they could build a forward base. She cursed as she blasted yet another with her ion pistol. She hated the thing but it sure did waste droids.

mara knew they needed to work quickly or they just provided the enemy another command center, She kept firing, trying to finish off that damn droids.

Velok gathered his strength and leaped out from behind his impromptu barrier of dead droids. Another blaster bolt winged him as he flew, rolling across the ground...

And the metal frame, the temporary base, lowered to cut him off from the droid forces. He clambered to his feet, choking on dust, and ignited his lightsabre again.

Another Echani -- they all looked the same to him -- joined the fight, and he busied himself defending her against incoming weapons fire, his lightsabre flickering madly.

Her fighter lowered down to land in a cleared area, thoroughly surrounded by Echani warriors that were deploying into the fight. She popped her flight helmet off and unfastened herself from the seat before popping the hood. She'd splashed enough fighters while in space to achieve the status of ace, but that didn't matter to her in the slightest. The only thing that mattered was dealing with this droid threat and freeing the planets peoples from the menace they endured. In all honesty, she was afraid for them. Droids, these ones, had no mercy. It seemed they were intent on killing everyone. That couldn't be allowed to happen, and that meant that they had a lot of work that they needed to do.

Climbing out, she reached inside the fighter and pulled out her double brand and shield, affixing the latter to her arm. She turned and surveyed the field and then headed towards the forward command post that had just been set up by the High Protector. Running across the battlefield, she put a hand to her mouth to stifle a cough that suddenly came on. Running up to the post, she lowered her hand and made her way inside, looking for the High Protector, and find her with @[member="Velok"]. "What's the situation down here? There is a massive amount of droid activity here. Do we know why?" She glanced at Velok for a moment and noticed his injuries. Waving for a corpman, she turned back to @[member="Mara Thorn"] for answers.

Velok deactivated his lightsabre and suffered the corpsman's ministrations with something like patience. He talked around the medic.

"We've got a mix of ranged and melee droids surrounding the landing zone. We've driven them back somewhat, except for the north, well, right here -- these MagnaGuards are an issue."

A stray electrostaff rattled and hissed against the other side of the metal wall, and Velok winced.

"Either they've got a lot of bodies, or a lot of really good orbital-insertion prediction algorithms, or we were betrayed. Knowing what I know about Omni's forces, I believe you have a mole somewhere in your organization."

The droids seemed to never stop coming...Men and women were falling all around him and it felt as if his head was going to explode.

His first real battle.

He had only recently obtained the rank of night under his old allegiance to the Emperor, however Omni's attack on Bastion had pushed the Imperials into the hands of the Sith. He took this opportunity to leave the order and join his people in their time of rebuilding. Unfortunately this meant battle with more droids. Battle he, though physically, was not mentally prepared for. It all started with a crash landing. His drop ship had been shot down and landed behind enemy lines. He didn't really remember anything after that, he just remembered waking up to blaster fire and screams and screaming metal. Now he was desperately trying to keep one of the pilots alive using Force augmented first-aid. It wasn't working.

"I won't make it..." the pilot said weakly, attempting to raise his hand. "Go help our brothers and sisters..." Yusanis gripped the man's hand tightly, the blood's crimson color contrasting sharply with the white armor he wore. The light went from his eyes and his breathing ceased. He had passed on. And so had Yusanis' doubts. His resolve somewhat strengthened by his comrade's death. Standing he left the wreckage of the drop ship to join the other two survivors who were taking cover behind a large boulder and durasteel wing from the drop ship. They too were fresh. No older than he was. It was time to fight. His parents named him after a strong man, a true warrior. It was time he lived up to his namesake. "It's time we fight." A single, silver blade ignited from the hilt of his lightsaber as he flung himself over and into the fray of battle, trusting his instincts, allowing the Force to guide his blade and his movements. He would leave here alive.

Of this, he was sure.

Her target ran for cover when a forward command post was dropped by the invaders. She opened fire with the stutter rifle, only to have the creature make it to the walls and safety, just in time. Holding her fire, she watched as a bunch of the IG droids began to attack the new emplacement, forced to meet with the newly landed Forces. Still, numbers of droids continued to pour from the junk field. It was going to be hard to fight back the onslaught.

By now the only droids left were IG droids. They'd come from the junk field in numbers that were a clear indicator of something strange. Where had they all come from? The numbers present were greater than the known numbers to have ever been produced. KORAH stood behind and watched as the droids clashed with the white skinned warriors, communing with Omni to pass along news.

After a few moments, she turned her rifle on the command post and opened fire.

Velok hunkered down in the command post as powerful blasterfire dimpled the metal walls from outside.

"This is so far from ideal," he growled, examining his wounds. "I'm not up to making another wraith, my lightning doesn't have that kind of range, there's no life to drain and I'm short of convenient boulders. So...no simple solutions."

IG droids closed in on the command post, regardless of the withering fire the Echani sprayed from the gunslits and emplacements. Velok whuffled, stood, and reactivated his lightsabre.

"Once more unto the breach, dear friends..."

A threat. Someone was a mole in their organization? That was, quite frankly, a scary thought. If someone was giving away their secrets to these machines that put them all at risk. Who could it be? She didn't know and she was afraid to speculate on the matter at the moment. There was work to be done, and they needed to find the source of the droids. "Captain Tannis, have our forces detected any other vessels in the system? Something big enough to drop troops?" There was a static pause that came after her contacting the fleet. It was possible that the droids were interfering with signals, but she doubted it. Probably the Captain was scanning the system for anything out of the ordinary.

"Scanners are clear, Grand Overseer. If there's anything out there it's cloaked and undetectable. Would you like us to send a couple of IFAS out to patrol?"

She thought about it for a moment. "Two pairs, Captain. I want them able to defend themselves. And be alert, we may have a mole." She clicked off the comms as the command post came under fire. Echani warriors started to push back the droids and she nodded towards @[member="Velok"] when he mentioned going back out into the fray. A cough caught her and she lifted a hand to cover her mouth before she shook her head and cleared her throat. Turning back to @[member="Mara Thorn"], she nodded towards the fray. "I want you to find the leader of this band of droids. These are all warrior droids. Something must be giving the orders. A droid that's out of place, perhaps. I've heard that droids are susceptible to this AI. One must be communing with it. Find it."

Velok took heed to Janira's words and charged into the army of droids to find their leader. Cai followed the Whiphid into the mass of droids. His saber slashing as they approached one another, the droids own electrostaves pressing in on the Jedi. But they were no match for a giant hairy creature, and an Echani bred for combat. "I"m with you," Cai said to the Whiphid. They found themselves briefly encircled by the droids. "Break." Cai said as he charged in the direction away from their front lines. The pair were in too deep, but they had a mission, kill the enemy general. Cut off the head and the body would wither. A droid jabbed as Cai. The young Jedi dodged to the right parrying the electrostaff with his blade and closing in on the droid to deliver a killing blow. Another charged from the real but Cai was confident the Whiphid would have him covered. Instead he charged onward wading through the body of droids. Velok followed until Cai spotted a droid aiming for the large creatures blind spot. Taking the initiative Cai switched places with Velok and struck the droid. Once more they were back to back surrounded by an encircling enemy. "Do you really think there is a traitor?" he asked with a frown. It was Velok's turn to lead them through the sea of droids.

Mara sighed, her mobile command was getting hammered. " this is why I wanted damn tanks" She said, as she requested air support, to recon for a leader. It was hard to fight against such numerous foes, with a force that insisted on using melee weapons, and not their ion blasters. She wanted more support, she knew that her people wanted to use their fighting but they needed to adapt and that had to start with the top. She needed more variety.. but she had to make due. " Double the perimeter, we need to keep the droids away and down. and we need air support."

Velok found himself fighting alongside a young Echani Jedi - K or something like that. The one who was always obsessed with holovids.

Oh well. At least he would understand an antihero. Maybe that was why this young Jedi Knight could fight side-by-side with a Sith Lord.

He contemplated killing Cai -- nobody would know -- but the droid assault was too potent, too overwhelming. With a growl, Velok gave ground...but then, on the next hill over, he spied a droid that didn't fit the rest. A leader, maybe; a coordinator.

He filled his lungs and roared, tearing up ground with a Force-created sonic shockwave. Droids flew everywhere. He and Cai ran through the suddenly empty space, then among the fallen droids, and confronted the droid commander.

Lightning!

And now they were coming out of the emplacement. Coming out and charging through the IG droids. She watched as they fought, unable to get a clear shot now because of all of the droids that were zipping around, cut in two, pouring out of the junk yard. In reality, she wasn't in control of any of them, or giving orders, but she was the eyes for everything. What she saw was what was reacted to.

And now they were coming for her. She lifted her rifle, ignoring the IG droids, and opened fire on @[member="Cai Sanis"] and @[member="Velok"]. And then lightning lanced out at her. Before it could hit her, an IG stepped in front of her, ordered to do so by the leader, who wasn't even on the battlefield.

The organics were starting to figure out that she was important to what was going on. That wasn't good. If she remained, she was an easy target. Turning, she started running away, arm pointed back and firing the rifle in the general direction of the two Force wielders, aimed at distracting them enough to keep them from straight up following her. She had to get to a range where she was safe enough to watch.

The blast of lightning slashed through the IG droid, but that unique model skipped away. He growled, batting blasterfire from the air, as he recognized the droid which had flown the STAP and put the hole in his right shoulder.

He gripped the nearest droids with his mind and threw them after her, a barrage of spearlike IG limbs and heads.

"Catch up with her, boy," he snarled. "She's too fast for me!"

The young man was back to back with the Whiphid when the command came. "Aye sir," Cai said listening to the Whiphids command. He turned and jumped putting a foot on the whiphids shoulder and using him, and the force, as a boost to jump over the enemy droids surrounding the pair. The female droid fired as Cai as he ran forward. Two shots were blocked by his lightsaber and a third hit his shield. Concentrating on his recent studies Cai shot forward with all the speed he could muster within the force.

The woman wouldn't get away from him. He reached her position and sliced crossways with his lightsaber preparing to cleave the mechanical body in two...

KORAH registered the landing of the man beside her an immediately moved away, narrowly avoiding the lightsaber cleaving through her. Instead of attacking, she darted off to the side and into the junk field, intent on losing the pursuit amongst the junk and masses of droids that were still pouring out of the field. It was like a never ending tide of death.

She started climbing one of the piles, mindful that the organic was probably trying to follow her. If he was, he would be ready for him. If he wasn't, then she would move for a new vantage point to get an eye on the field around her.

Velok found himself lagging behind the Echani boy. Maybe Cai could handle the droid alone, maybe he couldn't. He hurried, his old bones aching. The Force spurred him along, but his body and his power both had certain limits. He threw aside oncoming droids with bursts of lightning, simpler for him than telekinesis -- he had never excelled at the core powers. His shoulder throbbed.

"Cai! Slow down and wait for me!"

He rounded a corner and found them. Lightning flared across a long gap, slashing out at the droid.
