Kestrel lost her right arm in an accident from when she was a child. While the arm has a few hidden compartments for gadgets and even a wrist rocket, it is old, outdated, and something she pulled from a salvaging pile. She is constantly tinkering with her arm and repairing it but has never been able to figure out how to make the sensor pads in the fingertips work. Thus, she doesn't feel the usual sensations that someone with an organic limb, or just a higher-quality prosthetic, might.
WEAKNESSES:
-Fear of Abandonment
Discarded as a child by the people who should have cherished her has resulted in giving Kestrel some attachment issues. She latches tightly to those few whom she allows herself to grow close with, scared that at some point they will grow tired of her and throw her away again.
-Don't Touch Me
There wasn't a lot of affection given to Kestrel as a child. In fact, just the opposite. She knew the backside of a hand and the sting of a slavers collar, much better than the arms of a comforting embrace. As such, she has a hard time giving and receiving physical touch. Without earning her trust and confidence, unexpected touches are bound to set her off.
APPEARANCE:
Tall and lean, with smooth muscle beneath the skin that was developed from years of indentured servitude on Tatooine. From the elbow down, her right arm is entirely mechanical, having been that way since an accident in her early childhood. Though often covered with a leather glove, it has been outfitted and tinkered with through the years. Large and expressive dark magenta eyes stand out against the backdrop of her thick mass of coal black, waving hair, which coils to her waist when let loose. Because of growing up on Tatooine, Kestrel absolutely hates the heat and sand, preferring to dress in clothing that is light, cool, and non-restrictive.
BIOGRAPHY
History:
Kestrel and her twin sister were born to Magena Dray aboard her personal starship. It's uncertain what system the ship was in, and as such, neither girl has any official birth records or birthplace. Much was kept secret from both girls, including the identity of their father, and they remained as hidden as possible for the first several years of their lives. Neither one stepped foot on a planet until the age of five when their Mother realized she could not keep them safe much longer due to their Force Sensitivity.
Thus the twins were torn apart, Kenara being taken away to Hoth, and Kestrel into indentured servitude on Tatooine.
Life was lived without many comforts growing up, working at Lup's General Store for a man named Tavid Yandar. Even though she was just a child, Kestrel was put to work immediately, and given tasks appropriate for someone with such a small bone structure. Often times she would work twelve hour days, and her tasks often varied. Whether those included climbing into small spaces, (often hearing Tavid joke about how much cheaper it was to run a child around, rather than a droid) or performing menial tasks around the shop, she never had an idle moment to herself.
After several years of service to Tavid, Kestrel decided to take her destiny into her own hands and run away. But before she could her path crossed with that of the Jedi Master Judah Lesan, who upon discovering her potential in the Force, rescued and paid off the remainder of her debt to Tavid and took the orphan in. With the promise of a better life, she began her training to become a Jedi.
