Description: While the Protectorate Navy has been successively updated as conflicts broke out, as ships were broken and made, one general flaw has remained over the months. While the Protectorate possesses a varied fleet, the vast majority of its capital ships are 'light' capital ships, ships under the one thousand meter mark. In reviewing the latest conflict over Eriadu, it was found that while the Protectorate forces outnumbered the Fringe invasion force, the Fringe had a much higher percentage of 'heavy' capital ships, those over the one thousand meter mark. Had their coordination been more cohesive, fleet analysts believe that the fight would have been considerably different in favor of the Fringe.

As a result of this, efforts were made to design additional heavy capital ships. One such design was the Kerrigan-class. Named after the former Colonel and Exarch, the Kerrigan-class was designed to embody all the traits of its namesake. In particular, it is tenacious, unrelenting, and carries with it high risk and high reward.

It's most noteworthy feature is its hanger. Rather that field a traditional hanger, the Kerrigan-class instead houses two specially designed corvettes. Held in magnetic clamps, these corvettes are stored in vertical shafts near the midline of the ship. Upon reversion to real space, hanger doors retract and the magnetic clamps release. The ship's artificial gravity propels the corvettes outside of the hanger shields, where specially designed tractor-pressor beams assist in pushing the corvettes away from the ship.

Obviously, this design choice carries some risk. A lucky, or calculated, shot at the ship's midline could snap the ship in two, destroying not only the ship, but the two corvettes within. As well, the docking procedures necessary to load the corvettes are impossible to perform under combat, as that leaves all parties vulnerable.

Beyond that, the Kerrigan-class is designed for extended slugfests with enemy ships and are best deployed in formation with the Alcori-class line of ships. The ship has reinforced hull plating and redundant shield generators, giving it excellent durability, which is good as the ship is slower than other ships of its size. With the exception of the aforementioned midline weakness, the ship has remarkable stamina and durability. Initial field tests have found that even with hull breaches over seventy percent of the ship's deck lists, the ship was capable of continued combat operations.

Alright, everything checks out, though I notice you have no point defense weapons. Was that deliberate?

Also, because this ship can only carry the specially modified corvettes, I'll have to wait on stamping this until those corvettes are approved, otherwise all you'll have is a light SD with a big, gaping hangar and nothing in it lol Let me know when the Strike Corvettes are fully approved and I'll swing on back to do mah thang.
