Tamiko summoned a stabilizing breath, adjusting her stance in small controlled movements before drawing up a practice hilt and twirling it across the palm of her hand. Her 'blade' paled in comparison to the real deal, but allowing the kid immediate access to a full fledged lightsaber was a unanimously bad idea. One she couldn't find ground to argue with.

So she worked with what she had on hand, well within the seclusion of the beholder as Arc had made accommodations for. Relying on whatever material she’d studied on her own accord, she attempted to stitch together the semblance of a routine.

Not having bothered to turn on the lights, her movements were only emphasized by the faint glow cast by the resident jellyfish. Who floated on, unfazed by their sudden coexistence.

Riding a train of slow steady progress for the better half of an hour, she worked through a round of motions relentlessly. Getting her muscles used to the movement. Sword fighting was a wholly unfamiliar realm, but one she felt convicted to forge some sort of path down.

Arcturus pushed aside the macrolense of his magnifying glass, attached to his desk by a fully moveable arm, and leaned back in his seat to rub at his strained eyes. Before him sat a small petri-style dish with seemingly nothing held upon it; the lens, of course, told a different story. Just a few grains of sand, miniscule and insignificant, had been his focus for the day.

An entire day's work, with seemingly very little progress. It was more than a little frustrating. Stretching out his limbs, he moved to stand and turned off the lamp which had been directed toward his project. Even with it shut off the man did not struggle to see through the seemingly pitch black room, as he span a ring upon his finger and let out a short sigh.

Reaching out his senses, he found the ship oddly quiet. Sure there were the various animals and golems, Nwit, Tuus, even Nephthys whom he'd found barely alive on Korriban and couldn't bear to leave behind, but there was a presence that was decidedly missing from the depths of Leviathan herself. Being that they were in the depths of space, en route from one world to another, Arcturus knew there was only one place his Apprentice could reasonably be. Had she thrown herself from the airlock he'd have known long before she even reached the door, this he felt certain of.

There was no denying a bond had begun to form through the Force, one which was indicative of their Apprenticeship. Curiosity had piqued his interest now, and so he made his way across the ship and toward the starboard airlock. The docking tunnel had been modified some time ago to allow for a more permanent fixture to be added, strong magnetic fields practically fusing Beholder to the far larger Leviathan so that they could exist in tandem even through hyperspace. For all intents and purposes, they had become one vessel - at least until he saw fit to detach them.

It was through the tunnel that he wandered now, feeling her presence brighten through the Force, and once on the other side he quietly approached her in the meditation chamber and paused to observe through the darkness. Watched her as she went through the motions of something vaguely reminiscent of a form, though riddled with imperfections. A wrong foot here, twisted wrist there. Arms crossed, he didn't say much of anything to begin with.

And then he took a step into the room itself.

All at once the room glowered with a red hue, accompanied by the signature snap-hiss of an igniting lightsaber. Through the Force he adjusted the intensity of the blade so that it matched that of a training saber. "I admire the initiative," he stated, as he approached her position. "And I'm glad you're making good use of the space. Chin up, Apprentice, turn your right foot inward just a touch more. Shii-Cho, you've been studying it as requested?"

Lazily, one might argue all together too slowly, he directed his blade toward her left shoulder. An easy enough blow to deflect.

Admittedly she should’ve sensed his presence long before the sudden ignition of a characteristically red lightsaber drew her from her shroud of focus. But regardless the girl paused, straightening in acknowledgment.

“Roughly.” Adjusting her stance as instructed she loosened a sigh of mild frustration at the oversight. “Take it you have a few things to correct me on.”

She blocked his ‘attack’ with more haste than he’d exercised. His speed was understandable, looking to match her level of experience, but nonetheless the girl couldn’t help but feel restless with his patience.

Pushing back with enough force to deflect the blade, which arguably wasn’t much, she withdrew from the stance and raised her blade defensively.

“I could definitely use the criticism.”

She was quick to deflect, a little too hasty perhaps - that sort of thing made one sloppy. Still it served its purpose, and she not only blocked his blade but she pressed back to deflect him.

There was no room to muse on such though, for once he even suppressed his pride, already he could feel the beginning ebbs of frustration working their way through her and while typically he was not one to feed into such, when it came to the blade..? Well...

The girl shifted back from her stance, freeing up some space between them. Her blade was set into a defensive position, upward; Arcturus stepped forward and swung his lightsaber down toward her waist. Still slow, as though it were the simplest thing in the world to him, he even feigned boredom outwardly. Watched to see how it might affect her.

"Chaos, Tamiko," he breathed, glancing away from her to the jellies while pooling his senses into the Force, "You're giving away ground now?"
