  • Independent Targeting Sensors: Like all of Karavin Concern's latest-generation weapons systems, the KC-2A254 features its own set of targeting and tracking sensors, thus not requiring targeting data from the ship's main sensor array, adding a layer of redundancy which increases reliability

  • A Very Big And Heavy Fist: The KC-2A254 is an extremely powerful weapon when compared to regular turbolasers, capable of inflicting signifficantly more damage to a target
  • Reliably Accurate: The inclusion of its own independent targeting sensors gives the KC-2A254 an extra layer of redundancy and reliability, making it more difficult for electronic warfare to disable it
  • Low Profile Turret: The turret of the KC-2A254 system has been designed with a very low lateral and frontal profile in mind, making it more difficult to target it from a distance

  • Slow And Steady: The KC-2A254 is an extremely heavy weapon with a very high recoil, the slow traversal of the turret and the need to readjust after each shot due to the recoil dramatically reducing its rate of fire
  • Vulnerable Cooling System: The low profile of the turret and the heat management requirements mean that the weapons system has multiple exposed components on top of the turret, creating weak spots that can be targeted to disable the weapon
  • Power Hog: The KC-2A254 requires significantly more power to function, than a comparably-sized turbolaser, requiring the use of more powerful reactors and thus limiting what ships it can be mounted on

The KC-2A254 'Desolator' Octuple Barbette Disruptor is part of a new generation of ship-based weapons systems developed by the Kalidani military-industrial conglomerate Karavin Concern for use by the Eternal Navy. Intended to function in the same role as the more traditional Octuple Barbette Turbolasers found on numerous Star Destroyer designs, the Desolator features the same form factor, although with several notable differences.

Unlike regular turbolasers, the KC-2A254 has been designed to operate at much higher levels of power, essentially being a massively upscaled disruptor capable of inflicting considerably more damage against a target at distances comparable to conventional turbolaser systems. Additionally, the Desolator features its own independent targeting sensors, adding a layer of redundancy and reliability which makes it harder for electronic warfare devices to disable it. Finally, it features a low-profile turret which is hard to accurately target at long distances.

All of these advantages come with their own set of drawbacks, however. The size of the weapon means the turret turns very slowly to acquire a target, making it extremely difficult to track nimble and fast vessels. This, in addition to the weapon's extremely high recoil which require it to be readjusted after each shot, noticeably lower its overall rate of fire and the low-profile turret design, coupled with the heat management requirements of such a weapon, result in several exposed weak spots on top of the turret, where vulnerable components of the cooling system may be targeted to disable the weapon, especially by a low-flying starfighter.

Additionally, due to the nature of the KC-2A254 platform's technology, there is nothing that the engineers responsible for designing the system, could do to lower the power requirements. Thus, the Desolator platform can only be mounted on ships which meet the necessary power requirements and are equipped with a reactor capable of outputting the necessary values, such as more dangerous Isotope-5 models.

Gradually replacing older weapons systems and being outfitted on newer ship designs operated by the Eternal Navy, the KC-2A254 is rapidly becoming a mainstay of the Eternal Empire's fleets, the orange-gold disruptor bolts it fires being a very deadly proof that the Kalidani regime does not hesitate to utilize weapons and technologies which are considered cruel and are banned by other governments across the galaxy.
