War Marshal Helix
Technological Terror
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
An ingenious (if dangerous) method of power production, the KBR is Helix's first foray into in-house power generation technologies.
An individual unit is small, enough so to be comfortably carried around in humanoid hands, and is cool to the touch despite the ravening blob of star-matter that it barely keeps in check. It resembles a dusky glass cube, with delicate metal latticeworks running over the surface. This, in truth, is merely an outer shell for an active Otherplasma microstar, kept in check by exceptionally powerful magnetic fields. Most sane societies would not dream of producing power in such an unstable way, but Helix's society is seldom considered sane by most.
The KBR produces (mostly) reliable, long-lasting power, and an individual block can provide power for nearly a decade without maintenance. The device's true potential, however, comes in the form of its tandem capabilities.
KBR generators are designed to be linked together, sometimes in enormous quantities. While a single block can power a droid or small vehicle, many such devices combining their efforts can power a building or even a starship. It need hardly be said that this is a logistician's dream, as power can be quickly and easily reallocated to wherever it is needed. In a pinch, units can be easily relocated, for example, from a starship's fighter complement to increase power output elsewhere.
In typically deranged fashion, however, Helix's disregard for potentially lethal drawbacks has reared its ugly head again. While their outside surface is sturdy and resistant to common bumps, rattles, and maybe a glancing hit from a small arm, attacks from proper weaponry can be disastrous. If nearby personnel are lucky, the cube-shaped device will "merely" detonate with the force of an artillery shell, atomizing itself and likely anyone nearby for good measure. Otherwise, the violent energy release can easily set off a chain reaction, not a desirable outcome when these devices are powering a starship's weaponry.
A reactor breach is far from the only risk this technology poses. Active units frequently leak radiation, and it is inadvisable to have organic personnel work on or around these machines. Engine rooms bearing large quantities of KBR blocks can be almost uninhabitable, adding to the already-enormous dangers that a breach could pose. Personnel are advised to keep these machines well-shielded and heavily guarded.

- One For All: The KBR is designed to link to other identical modules at varying quantities based on the power required, and can be made to fit in anything from an individual droid to a starship.
- Longevity: The KBR's reaction can provide power for an exceptionally long time, at least under ideal circumstances.
- Chain Reaction: Should one of the linked generators be destroyed, the resultant explosion will most certainly set off others nearby.
- Dangerous: The KBR poses a number of risks, not least of which being the escape of its shakily-contained energy.
