Strengths:
- Karl is brilliant, in his early life it was overshadowed by tactics, but in his later life his love of engineering has finally shown through.
- Karl is a great shot with any type of weapon; may it be a blaster pistol or a turbolaser.
- Karl is respected by his crew and other officers he has gotten to know in all his years.
Weaknesses:
- - Nearing the closing of his life, Karl is not very athletic anymore, aging was not kind to his joints.
- - He is still a terrible pilot, just atrocious.
APPEARANCE:
Karl, in his early life, was a model soldier, always put together. Other than his superiors always said his hair was "too long." Well, look who is still alive. Now in his later years, his hair is still as long, but fading from bright blonde to greying. He used to wear his Relby-k23 pistol in a chest holster, but now he has put it on a leg holster for ease of use. He also has dropped from knee-high boots to shin height, for a bit of better mobility. His uniform is a little more unkept now, but still black on black, now with the added accessories of a tool belt and his sister's forearm datapad.
BIOGRAPHY:
Karl Von Strauss was born the first son to his parents, but twin brother to his sister Erika. For most of their childhood, they were inseparable, like some twins, they could do things like finishing each other's sentences. They were always touted as having the same mind, something which would always loom over them. Being compared to the other. This didn't matter to them, because they always had each other to lean on.
Of course, there was a time when they didn't have each other: Academy. Seeing how close they were their father sent them to different institutions, although they virtually received the same education. During his time at the academy, Karl began to show signs of having a brilliant tactical mind, something that both the academy and his father fed into for most of his teenage years. This tactical brilliance overshadowed the other parts that wanted to grow. It was during his later years at the academy that his father began to reveal that the Von Strauss family had always been faithful to the Empire and the governments that would come after it, but shared the ideology. He began to feed Karl propaganda and stories of being part of the Imperial Navy; stories of the past heads of the family. Karl idolized these stories and his father, he would gladly join whatever cause the Von Strauss' served. This would be the First Order.
Karl joined the First Order as a Junior Lieutenant, a step higher than normal recruits due to his heritage and donations made by his father. He felt that he deserved the position, but could understand the contempt from the other recruits his age. He never touted his position but did his best to gain the trust and respect of his betters. After more than a couple of years, he finally reached the rank of Senior Lieutenant, and his first position as a ship's executive officer (XO). Unfortunately, this meant he was moved to a different cruiser and had to rebuild trust and respect with a whole new crew, save for a few people who he had gone to the academy with. It took him almost 5 years, but there was one defining moment that heavily influenced the crew's view of him.
It was a brutal battle, in his old age he wouldn't be able to tell you which. All that he remebers is that the cruiser he was on was hit by a broadside from a destroyer. The ships Commanding Officer was hit by shrapnel that made its way through one of the glasteel panels depressurizing the bridge. Karl immediately hit the button to close the shutter then went to check on his CO. He was bleeding profusely and needed to head to the med bay otherwise he wasn't going to survive. Karl made sure he was in capable hand to get there and then took command of the ship only after making sure that others were good. To make a long story short, he was able to use his cruisier's fast speed to out manuever the destroyer and disable its engines, saving not only his crews' lives but numerous other smaller vessels as well, letting them tactically retreat. Unfortunately Karl's CO died on the operating table, and was battlefield promoted to Captain and given his first station. He would name his flag ship after his late commanding officer's daughter, Anastasia.
Karl worked hard as a Captain to make a name for himself, but ultimately failed. His time arrived right at the downward slope for the First Order. He foresaw this and made sure both himself and his sister Erika left before 'cataclysm.' For the last numerous years, Karl and Erika travelled along the known edges of the galaxy fighting pirates and the occasional Alliance scout group. He eventually found a wife and had a child, a boy; his wife did not survive the birth. Eventually, their luck ran out and Erika, in her old age, went out with a blaze of glory to protect her brother and her nephew. This prompted Karl to start searching for an organization that had the same values that he was raised on and faught for, leading directly to the Empire of the Lost.
SHIP:
Like his sister he has a Courier-Class Yacht it is modified with chromium armor and forward and aft concussion missile launchers and dual swivel laser cannons.
His Flag Ship is an Imperial-X MkVa Class Star Destroyer, which he has dubbed the Anastasia.
His son currently has his secondary ship as his flag ship, the Duchess. Which is a Duchess-Class Heavy Star Destroyer.
