bloodshot_nights_by_persekore-d482ohb.jpg

NAME: Kariss Jerriko
FACTION: Eh, not really
RANK: Serial Killer
SPECIES: Anzati
AGE: 75
SEX: Female
HEIGHT: 5'2"
WEIGHT: 109 lbs.
EYES: Red
HAIR: Brown
SKIN: Fair, a bit pale
FORCE SENSITIVE: Not exactly

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strengths and Weaknesses:
  • + Our Vampires Are Different. As an Anzat, Kariss is of superior physical stock, at least compared to humans. Strong, fast, agile, and with incredible healing capabilities, she's simply more than a match for most humans. However, she's very young by Anzati standards, and has yet to develop the truly overwhelming physical abilities endimic to her species...and likely won't for another couple of decades.
  • + Charm Person. There's a pretty decent list of telepathic powers that Anzati can use just by being Anzati. In order to assist in hunting, Kariss has two main psychic weapons at her disposal. The first is a kind of specialized extrasensory that allows her to find those with strong life force, or "luck." She's not old or experienced enough to have honed it to be able to track specific individuals, but she can easily put it to use scanning a crowd for someone whose spirit is stronger than the masses.

The other, much more dramatic one is hypnotism. When she's at intimate range with her victim, Kariss can employ a kind of shotgun mind trick - short range, high power - to attempt to dominate their mind. It's best used subtly, with suggestions rather than commands, but both options are available. With age and use Kariss may be able to enforce her will on others quite some distance away, but at the moment it's ineffective beyond just a couple of meters.
  • + McNinja. The traditional vocation of Anzati is assassination. The hunt is the only skill worth teaching children. As a result, Kariss is very much like every other young Anzat; she knows how to remain undetected, strike from ambush, stalk for long periods of time, and overpower those she puts at a disadvantage. Of course, the best food is the kind that asks to be eaten...
  • - Horror Hunger. The primary evolutionary disadvantage of the Anzati is how they sustain themselves. In order for Kariss to continue existing, she must murder sentient beings on a regular basis. The stronger her prey's spirit, the more nutritious they are, meaning that getting a good meal is extremely dangerous under most circumstances. This can naturally draw some serious suspicion on most civilized planets, as lacking a particularly filling meal can force her to rack up body counts in the dozens.
  • - Stronger With Age. Regarding her Anzati powers. As I've probably repeated six times already, Kariss is young and weak...by Anzati standards. She's still formidable to mundane humans and most other humanoids, but she simply can't hunt big game like her elders can. As a result, Kariss has had to learn how to play smarter, not harder. Using her hypnosis to implant suggestions instead of enforcing commands, selecting prey that's stong enough to be a good meal but weak enough to overpower if necessary...there are a lot of fine lines she has to walk in order to subsist on a daily basis.
  • - Drives Like Crazy. Also flies like crazy. One would think that with good reflexes and coordination, Kariss would be a better pilot. Instead she tends to prefer letting others take the wheel (or controls, or whatever) in order to prevent interesting crashes. The last time she attempted to do anything more than an autolanding sequence in her YTA, she wound up forking over a thousand credits to repair the damage to the ship.
  • ~ Red Eyes Take Warning. Beause it looks cool, obviously.

Appearance:
Short and slender, Kariss Jerriko is hardly the most intimidating of creatures. She honestly looks more like a teenager than a full-grown woman, and she isn't afraid to exploit that misconception at every opportunity. With fair skin, long and immaculately-groomed hair, and stylish clothes, the only thing about Kariss that looks even vaguely inhuman is the color of her eyes, and even that's no surefire bet. Cosmetic lenses are a thing, after all.

Naturally, when she starts feeding, there's a subtle change.

Biography:
There are many prestigious bloodlines in the galaxy: Skywalkers and Solos amongst humans, Fortunas and Securas and Vaos amongst Twi'leks, and so on. For Kariss Jerriko, her childhood was filled with stories of the dreaded Dannik Jerriko, known to the prey species of the galaxy as Death. The Anzati equivalent of stories of Jedi knights fighting krayt dragons to rescue beautiful princesses was a thief in the night, stealing the richest luck in the galaxy through strength and wit and willpower. Naturally, Kariss couldn't wait to follow in her ancestor's footsteps.

Anzat is a planet of singular focus. The only Anzati on its surface are either children or raising children, as the species itself is drawn to the larger galaxy. One can't very well hunt among one's own people, after all. Kariss trained as all other young Anzati did, learning how to track and stalk and overpower. And, when she was old enough, she was allowed to leave the planet to go make her own way in the stars, forging her own untold tales of dangerous prey and incredible soup.

Unfortunately for Kariss Jerriko, the romance was shattered very early on. Twenty years of training under a master assassin had not prepared her for the rugged difficulty of real hunting. There was no idealized tale of following a single, beautiful soul through a crowd of inferiors, seducing them with flirty smiles and quiet mystique, then lulling their mind into a trance as she drained the finest soup ever tasted. The planets of the galaxy were notoriously low on strong life energy. Even when she did find someone nourishing, there was the matter of planetary laws, murder investigations, fleeing the planet of the crime as a fugitive...

But just one taste of luck - real, intoxicating luck - was enough to make her forget all about that. She needed more. She absolutely had to have more.

Falling into the same addiction that her entire species did, Kariss set out to far-flung worlds, thickly populated city-planets, and criminal hives. Wherever she set her feet, death followed. Dozens of bodies became hundreds by the time she was sixty. She nearly starved on Mandalore during a war, lived like a queen on Haruun Kal for some months, fought for revolutionaries during a Ryloth rebellion...her whispered tale began to grow in just a few scant decades away from home. No one would ever know, and that suited Kariss just fine. After all, the only thing that mattered was the soup, not the story behind it.

For the last couple of years, Kariss has been plying her lethal, silent trade on Nar Shaddaa. A dark city full of filth, murder, and lies suited her just fine. What was more, she was shocked to find just how many people in the unwashed armpit of the galaxy had surprisingly strong spirits. Desperation and need brought out the best and the worst in others, but both strengthened one's life force. A veritable goldmine of luck awaited any who were willing to exploit it, and Kariss Jerriko has been all too willing.

Ship:
Kariss' daddy got her a personal light freighter for her "sweet sixty." The Connoiseur is a simple YTA-2150 light freighter, designed for comfort more than combat. She can travel quickly and in style without having to worry about things like getting caught leaving corpses on a public transport.

Should you ever find that standard low enough to have your vampire RP with one of my characters make sure to give me a call.

Ah, sorry, no offense intended, I just always like spotting out of character references to other material. Chris Jericho is a professional wrestler.

I should have realized you'd meant Dannik Jerriko when you used the name!
