HISTORY
Kareth Das, better known by the moniker “Karnage,” was born around 878 ABY in the lower levels of Coruscant. A near-human of the same species as Dryden Vos, Kareth grew up with facial markings that shifted with emotion, making his anger and fear difficult to hide. Raised in poverty among broken infrastructure, gang violence, and forgotten families, he learned early that the galaxy ignored the quiet and only noticed those who made themselves feared.
As a teenager, Kareth became obsessed with the legend of Darth Maul, whose life had become widely declassified and exaggerated through holos, crime dramas, and underworld retellings. He did not understand Maul as a warning or tragedy, but as proof that someone discarded, broken, and humiliated could return as something terrifying. Kareth copied the red-and-black imagery, the horns, and the philosophy of survival through rage, twisting Maul’s story into a street-level creed about pain, fear, and becoming impossible to forget.
At age 15, Kareth founded a swoop gang called the Children of Maul, gathering gutter mechanics, thieves, spice runners, and castoff youths from Coruscant’s lower levels. Most people simply called them the Maulers, and the name stuck. By 900 ABY, the twenty-two-year-old Karnage has become the gang’s young prophet and warlord, leading them in violent raids through the undercity while preaching that fear is respect and pain is identity. He is not a true Sith, a real Nightbrother, or a legitimate heir to Maul — only a dangerous young criminal wearing the myth of a dead monster like a mask.
