PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: Visanj T’shkali / Locke and Key Mechanics
Affiliation: Visanj T’shkali / Locke and Key Mechanics / CIS
Model: KALI
Modularity: No
Production: Minor-Production
Material: Electronics, Code, Digits, Gabonna Memory Crystal

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Feminine Programming, utilizing voice and personality matrix of CIS Exarch Srina Talon.
  • Heuristic programming allows KALI to learn a particular crew’s strengths and weaknesses and to customize assistance to account for these, enabling maximum performance.
  • Able to take over management of ships and to micro-manage various systems, allowing increased efficiency, emergency operation in the event one or more crew members are incapacitated, and to monitor ship’s functions to provide real-time management and operational assistance, greatly improving crew performance and reaction times.
  • Contains an extensive tactical database and full technical information for a variety of ships and their systems, making her able to provide tactical assistance and to direct repair droids during battle; in effect serving as a battle computer for the crew, she is able to assist in targeting, weapons management, defenses management, etc.
  • Contains an extensive database regarding astro-navigation and hyperspace travel, able to program hyperdrive for jumps, manage hyperspace travel and navigation, and to make corrections as needed.
  • Uses encrypted communications suite aboard the starfighter to upload data regarding the engagement, the crew’s performance, anomalies or new information encountered, etc. to a main database for later review and analysis by CIS intelligence or use in future training. Because the same A.I. is found in every XSF-series starfighter, KALI can coordinate with ‘herself’ much easier, to provide real-time data and cooperation across all such vessels during an operation, improving efficiency for an entire squadron, flight, wing, etc.
DESCRIPTION
The KALI A.I. was designed using feminine programming, notably incorporating the voice and personality matrix of CIS Exarch Srina Talon, giving it a colorful yet competent demeanor and a fearsome loyalty to its crews and their missions. Programmed to record and analyze a crew’s performance, KALI is able to adjust her management and assistance to best suit that particular crew’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing her to better enable maximum performance with each ship and crew she is serving with. Able to draw upon a large database of starfighter and fleet tactics, as well as understand both the abilities and limitations of numerous vessels and models, she can provide real-time expertise and tactical assistance to act as a battle computer for the crew, assisting in every aspect of combat operations. Managing shipboard functions and systems also, KALI is able to take the burden off the crew, improving efficient operation of the craft and enabling better reaction and response times. Further, she can direct the onboard repair droids to make repairs during and after engagements, and in the event one or more crew members should become incapacitated, she can take over operation of the vessel entirely, allowing it to return safely to a base or carrier. KALI was designed to record and analyze information at exceptionally rapid rates, and is able to coordinate with all XSF-series ships, which each use the KALI A.I. to coordinate actions and share information in real-time, helping to boost efficiency and situational awareness across an entire squadron, flight, wing, etc. Finally, KALI also serves as the navigational computer, managing hyperspace travel, astro-navigation, and making corrections as needed apart from the crew.

STRENGTHS:
  • Improves crew performance and shipboard operations effectively and rapidly, and allows improved coordination and shared situational awareness across several XSF-series ships engaged at once.
  • Greatly reduces operational demands on crew, able to manage shipboard systems and functions quickly and competently, allowing crew to better focus on matters at hand. She is even able to direct onboard repair efforts when necessary or to assume the place of one or more incapacitated crew members should the need arise.
  • Serves as an effective battle computer, improving combat effectiveness and tactical capabilities.
WEAKNESSES:
  • KALI is able to take over for incapacitated crew members, but in doing so is restrained by the information found in her database and lacks the intuitive and innovative abilities of an organic crewmember.
  • KALI can only functionally improve coordination with other XSF-series fighters when her communications are working, and thus damaged or jammed communications degrade or prevent this feature.
  • KALI is vulnerable to EMP/Ion attacks, like any electronics component, and must rely on the ship’s armor to protect her to allow maximum functionality. Damage or compromise to this protection also elevates risk of damage or compromise to KALI as well.
  • A sufficiently skilled and capable enemy slicer may be able to slice into KALI, causing confusion, disrupting coordination, or even taking her offline, and while numerous anti-slicing and ECM measures have been taken, this vulnerability to directed attacks by an expert slicer remains a risk.
  • KALI’s ability to compensate, anticipate, and adjust for the needs of a crew are developed heuristically over time and experience with the same crew, if dealing with one or more new crew members she must ‘re-learn’ to allow for this new dynamic and thus her ability to assist a crew and improve efficiency will take time to develop. Should she be sent into a combat with a new crew and without having had this time, she will not be as efficient and helpful as she would with a crew she’s flown with before, resulting on diminished capacity during the engagement.
