PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Kaelen Varrin carries the rugged look of someone who's lived most of his life on the move. He stands just shy of six feet tall, with a lean, wiry frame hardened by years of street brawls, ship repairs, and hard landings. His dark, tousled hair always seems a little windblown, and a light stubble shadows his strong jaw. His most striking feature is his intense blue eyes—sharp, restless, and constantly scanning his surroundings, as if he's always one step away from bolting toward the next fight or opportunity. The lines around his mouth and brow suggest a man who's seen more than his age would normally allow.

Kaelen favors practical, well-worn clothing that blends into the fringes of the galaxy—a weathered brown leather jacket with reinforced shoulders, a simple off-white henley shirt, and dark cargo pants with the scuff marks of frequent travel. Slung across his chest is a sturdy leather strap supporting a compact satchel where he keeps essential tools, stolen data chips, and the occasional explosive charge. His belt is heavy with gear: a fast-draw Corellian blaster pistol rides at his hip, worn but meticulously maintained, and next to it hangs the scorched hilt of a deactivated lightsaber—an heirloom passed down from his grandfather, missing its kyber crystal, but never far from his side.

Though not yet a Jedi, Kaelen's connection to the Force is growing, and it subtly shapes his movements—his hand hovers near his blaster a fraction of a second before danger strikes, and his steps always seem guided by instinct. To most, he's just another drifter with a cause, but to those who look closer, there's something unmistakable beneath the grit: the spark of a legacy long buried, now flickering to life.

INVENTORY

  • Half-Assembled Lightsaber Hilt – Found in his grandfather’s hidden belongings. Missing critical components; unlocking its secrets could be a major step in his journey.
  • Corellian Longcoat – Originally his father's, complete with burn marks and stitched repairs. It’s become his signature look.
  • Datachip Journal – Contains encrypted fragments of his grandfather’s holorecordings, some scrambled star maps, and Jedi philosophy excerpts.
  • The Grey Horizon: A beat-up YT-2000 light freighter. Fast, patched together, and barely legal. Serves as his home and mobile base.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Kaelen Varrin is driven by a quiet, simmering restlessness—a man caught between the life he was told to live and the legacy he's now determined to reclaim. Years of being distanced from his family's past have made him fiercely independent, but never truly bitter. He has a sharp sense of justice, though it's not shaped by laws or galactic politics—it's personal, rooted in standing up for the overlooked and the downtrodden. Kaelen's loyalty is hard-earned, but once given, it's absolute. He gravitates toward outcasts, misfits, and freedom fighters, people like himself who don't fit cleanly into the galaxy's larger power struggles.

He's pragmatic, a realist shaped by life on the fringes, yet he harbors a stubborn idealism beneath his guarded exterior. Kaelen doesn't speak of destiny or the Force with reverence—he talks about it like unfinished business, a family story he's choosing to write his own way. His sense of humor is dry, sometimes self-deprecating, and often used to deflect from his deeper fears: that he'll never live up to the Jedi he's chasing in the echoes of the past. He is brave, but not reckless, willing to gamble his own safety for others but hesitant to trust in things he can't see or control.

Kaelen's greatest strength is his adaptability. He's quick-witted in a fight, resourceful when outgunned, and flexible in the gray moral spaces of the galaxy. Yet, his greatest weakness is his deep uncertainty about his own identity—he's a man in search of who he's meant to be, walking the line between the smuggler's life he knows and the Jedi path he's just beginning to touch. His journey is as much about self-forgiveness and belonging as it is about battles and rebellion. Whether he'll ultimately forge his own way or be consumed by the weight of his bloodline remains to be seen.

STRENGTHS

  • Unshakeable Loyalty: Once Kaelen commits to someone—be it a cause, a crew, or a single person—his loyalty is absolute. He will face overwhelming odds, take impossible risks, and push beyond his limits to protect those he trusts. Even if he questions himself, he never abandons his allies. This makes him a powerful force in small, close-knit groups and earns him the respect of freedom fighters, smugglers, and Force users alike.

  • Quick Reflexes: Kaelen's years on the streets and in backwater cantinas have honed his reflexes to a razor's edge. His latent Force sensitivity further sharpens them, often giving him a fractional advantage in blaster fights and dangerous negotiations. Whether it's a fast draw, a narrow dodge, or sensing trouble a heartbeat before it strikes, his speed and instinct are the tools that have kept him alive where others would have fallen.

WEAKNESSES

  • Reckless Loyalty: Kaelen's fierce loyalty, while a strength, can also blind him to reason. He often throws himself into danger for his friends or causes without fully considering the long-term consequences. This makes him vulnerable to manipulation by those who would exploit his need to protect others, and sometimes leads him to overextend himself in battles or missions he can't realistically win.

  • Fear of Inadequacy: Deep down, Kaelen struggles with the gnawing fear that he'll never live up to his grandfather's legacy. This insecurity drives him to take unnecessary risks and pushes him to prove his worth, even when patience or caution would serve him better. His self-doubt can cloud his judgment, causing him to misread situations or hesitate at critical moments, especially when it comes to fully trusting in the Force.

HISTORY

Kaelen Varrin grew up in the shadow of a name he wasn’t allowed to carry.

His grandfather, Julius Sedaire, was a legendary Corellian Jedi Knight and a celebrated hero of the Rebellion. Stories of Julius and hisdaring strikes against the Empire, his close work with the Rebellion and other such entities, and his relentless defense of the oppressed are still whispered in the darker corners of the galaxy. But for Kaelen, those stories were forbidden.

His father, Liam Sedaire, bore deep scars from that legacy. Bitter over a childhood consumed by war and his father’s commitment to a cause greater than family, Dalen turned his back on the Jedi, the Force, and the chaos that came with both. He raised Kaelen to be ordinary — no training, no lightsabers, no destiny. Just another face in the crowded streets of Corellia.

But Kaelen was never ordinary.

The Force tugged at him in small ways — an instinct that saved him from a landspeeder accident, a gut feeling that kept him one step ahead of street gangs, dreams that didn’t feel like his own. The more Liam pushed him to ignore it, the more the galaxy seemed to call him.

When Kaelen turned twenty-four, his father finally told him the truth: the Sedaire name, their Jedi heritage, the family legacy he was denied. In that moment, something fractured. Within months, Kaelen left Corellia behind, choosing a path his father swore would only bring him pain.

Now, Kaelen drifts from world to world, piecing together fragments of Jedi teachings, seeking out scattered Force users, and fighting alongside resistance cells, smugglers, and freedom fighters. He’s no Jedi yet — just a stubborn young man with a blaster, a barely-understood connection to the Force, and a growing determination to stand for the little guy, just like his grandfather did.

But Kaelen knows his journey won’t be simple.

He carries the weight of a family divided, a legacy unclaimed, and a destiny he’s only beginning to understand. Somewhere out there, the truth about his grandfather’s final mission, his father’s secrets, and his own potential waits for him.

And Kaelen Varrin is ready to fight for all of it.
