STRENGTHS
  • Endurance - Through discipline, rigorous training, and use of the Force the Justicar is able to withstand considerable strain or stress both mentally and physically.
  • Patience - Ascenda weathers raised voices, pleas for mercy, calls for action, and countless death threats with poise and resolve. Justice can be neither rushed nor deterred.
  • Deductive - A trial is rife with lies of omission, blatant lies, and deceit. Ascenda can pick up on such things from most known sentient lifeforms. For those she cannot, sheer logic and enhanced interrogation techniques will suffice.
  • Mastery - The Justicar steeped herself in training in use of the Force. It gave her focus in the beginning with the Knights of Ren, and has since been a trusted companion in meting out justice in the galaxy.
  • Balance - Strong is Ascenda with the Dark Side of the Force, but she is not an avatar of rage and hatred. Some would call her cruel or monstrous, but it is always handed out with unwavering ease. What need is there to shout a proclaimation of execution when you execute them whether the prisoner accepts their fate or not?
  • Tolerance - Such a disciplined, no-nonsense, holier-than-thou avatar of Justice would surely be unable to hold her drink... Do not test Justice. Ascenda can withstand more than her share of alcoholic consumption.

WEAKNESSES
  • Diamond Soul - A Justicar has no place for emotion in carrying out justice in the galaxy. Her heart has been hardened by trial and fire. There is no compassion in her sentencing, and the sacrifice of a few innocents to ensure heinous criminals are brought to justice is a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.
  • Flawed Diamond - A glimmer of compassion can be found for those that selflessly sacrifice themselves for the well-being of a child. If the adult(s) are guilty of a crime they may not be grant leniency, but the child may. Other such flaws may also exist, but it is unlikely any subject to her judgment would survive long enough to discover them soon enough for it to matter.
  • Zealot - Ascenda is a fervent believer in Law and Order in the galaxy. She is not bound by any government-sanctioned or codified law, only her own which she adheres to religiously. Those that break the law are punished swiftly and severely with no chance of appeal or parole.
  • No Self - The coping mechanism that brought Elaine through ensuring the welfare of her children taken by the First Order has over time not only hardened her heart, but crystallized the Mandalorian Creed to the point she no longer identifies as a person. Her face is the helmet. Whether someone sees her face or not does not matter; if they attempt to plead to her as a sapient individual or as a woman they will find the Justicar turn a deaf ear toward them.
  • Brusque - As an instrument of justice, Ascenda does not take her time getting to the point, nor will she attempt to be tactful or considerate of another's feelings. She will speak the truth and make certain you hear it.
  • Sweets - She does not like anything excessively rich or sweet, it makes her sick to her stomach.

APPEARANCE
Justicar Ascenda (or Elaine Kryze as she was known long ago) is a Zygerrian with soft, short-hair lavendar fur. Raised a Mandalorian and wearing a helmet influenced by that culture even as a Knight of Ren, few expect the furry face that appears in the few times the helmet is removed. Deep blue eyes stare back at those that have the honor of witnessing the Flesh beneath her true face -- the helm. Sadly, remarks of beauty or pleasing sights will go unacknowledged as Ascenda has long since identifying as the person she was born as; a tragic result of coping with being conscripted by the First Order along with the rest of her family. The razor's edge and unwavering gaze of her eyes only carries the same foreboding weight as the helmet itself. Her lips are a dark purple, flat and humorless as the eternal task before her will never be fully realized (crime will never be ended so long as the disorganized, disobedient governments rule).

She stands upright at all times with her shoulders in a straight line, head held high, with her hands at her sides. A silent stand off with the Justicar could last hours without a single muscle twitching save that of slow, measured blinks of the eyes. Set in motion, Ascenda's movements are fluid and her strike bearing the full brunt of the Dark Side. Battle is waged with a level head, but a strong arm -- it is one of the few passions that expresses the inferno locked away within her diamond soul.

BIOGRAPHY
PROFILE
A Lifetime Ago
Elaine Kryze was a young child when she encountered a Mandalorian, Silene of Clan Kryze. She had come aboard with several others to explore the derelict wreckage of a vessel adrift in space. What they found was a lone survivor in the form of a child that launched itself at them, biting and clawing at anyone in reach. Fortunately, after subduing the youth and providing something edible to occupy her fangs, Elaine was convinced to go with them. From that day onward Silene taught the Foundling Zygerrian everything she needed to know of the Mandalorian Creed.

She was nineteen years of age, serving aboard a smuggling ship when Adam Langley appeared in search for work. At first she found little of interest in the man, but eventually by word and deed they fell in love. Later, the couple collected enough money to set out on their own; they purchased a modified Corellian Light Freighter called Serenity. Then soon afterward the couple had twins -- Morgan and Helen.

As they traveled between the stars, Elaine taught her children the Mandalorian Creed and reared them propriately. They were young, but it was never too early to make discipline part of one's life -- it would make the greater challenges in training and life later far easier. She even went so far as to introduce them to blasters. Safety, proper technique, and why they should not indescriminately kill, but not fear killing others if their life was in danger.

During one smugging mission, however, the Serenity was intercepted and boarded by The First Order Stormtroopers and a Knight of Ren. They were then apprehended once the latent Force Sensitivity in Elaine and her children was discovered. Adam attempted to protect his family, but in so doing was shot and killed.

Elaine and Helen were taken by the Knight of Ren, while Morgan was taken by the Stormtroopers. That was the last time Elaine saw Morgan.

The First Death

In the beginning, Elaine refused to humor the Knights or their designated instructors in learning how to use the Force. However, by leveraging her daughter's well-being and how 'brutal' and 'harsh' training someone so young could be... Further encouragement to particular in her own training was given with the rare, but welcome chance to see her daughter. At first this would be a reprieve for good behavior; but as the years went on it became just another shackle as Helen was taught the ways of The First Order and the Knights of Ren.

Once her training had progressed far enough and Elaine had demonstrated a suitable deference to the First Order and commands given by her superiors, the Zygerrian was offered the chance to adopt a new name and appropriate attire as a Knight herself. After years of mental and physical brutality and knowing the only way to protect those she loved -- even from afar -- was to obey, Elaine steeled herself and embraced her position. She chose Justicar Ascenda as a name. It was her Master that opted to provide her a Mandalorian-like helmet as a Knight. One, final emotional blade.

Law, Order, and Retribution

Order in Chaos. Justice through Order. Justicar Ascenda became fixated on dispensing justice wherever she went. The zeal she demonstrated in putting down rebellion, squashing dissent, and ensuring the smooth operations of assignments garnered acclaim and attention. They were quite satisfied with her re-education. As they should be; the Justicar did not act merely as a front, but had become a living instrument that suffered no rebuke.

Several years later, however, there came a once in a lifetime opportunity. Circumstances Ascenda herself had not even fully realized she had desired. Assigned to partner with her old Knight of Ren Master, cut off from communication, isolated from the Force on a mission, Justicar Ascenda delivered Final Judgment. With both lightsabers plunged into her old Master's body, the Zygerrian hissed through her vocalizer, "For my family."

The Knight Justicar returned to service as though nothing had changed. Indeed, to the embodiment of Justice she had become mentally nothing had changed. The Master had been judged guilty long ago. She had simply deferred sentencing until an appropriate time. This didn't make sense objectively, but the woman she had once been and the woman she now was came to this accord to understand why they had done it. It appeaed them both.

Order in Isolation

After the collapse of The First Order following the invasion of the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium of Dosuun, Justicar Ascenda found herself on a remote colony cut off from supply lines and with communication in disarray. Possessed by the desire for Order, the Justicar established her authority of the colony on Riflor and began negotiation supplies with traders and smugglers alike. Unfortunately for any that sought to exploit the rich mines of the planet, the Justicar saw through attempts to exploit their circumstances and ensured fair-prices were paid for goods and services.

Since that time, the Justicar has remained on the planet and found a strange sense of tranquility after the people of Riflor came to understand her brutal yet effective form of dispensing justice. There was no beaucracy to exploit or deals to be struck -- the guilty were punished commensurate with their crime.
