SETTING INFORMATION
  • Space Station Name: Jovan Station.
  • Station Model: x
  • Classification: Commercial Transit Point
  • Location: Jovan III, Jovan System.
  • Affiliation: The Thirriken Empire.
  • Population: Moderate.
  • Demographics: The majority of them are aliens that populate the Gordian Reach. From Arkudans to Kushiban and Thirrikens. Near-humans are in a distinct minority here, but mostly originate from the various diasporas that were gathered here by the previous rulers of the Reach, Clan Rekali. Vahla, Dathomiri and similar cultural groups have been known to open a shop here, or take a job between traveling.
  • Accessibility: Public. There are some parts of the station off-limit to regular guests. The security outposts, restricted warehouses for long-term storage, the back-end of the handful of industrial refitting stations that offer repair and refuel services to visiting naval ships. Other than that the flow of commerce is mostly unrestricted. There is an understanding between all the people of the Gordian Reach. There might be tension between the various sides, but everyone depends on the food that flows from the Jovan System. There are check-points with bio-scanners at the entry points, firearms are expected to be kept on the ship, but it is a far cry from some other regulated stations.
  • Traffic: High. The vast majority of the cargo that passes through Jovan Station is agriculture in one shape or another. Foodstuff that is harvested and grown from Jovan I, II and III is first brought here, before being sold to the rest of the Reach. While on the flip-side industrial machines, droids parts, seeds and other agricultural necessities flow back into these farming worlds through the station.
  • Description: A bustling space station that serves as a transit point for the farming needs of the Gordian Reach. Foodstuffs, machine parts, seeds, a farmer can find almost anything they might need here. As the primary trade port of the Jovan system it processes other wares as well, but the agriculture is where its heart resides.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Coruscant District - Most of the station clearly caters to aliens. From the food to the entertainment, even to the accommodations. This has less to do with inherent anti-human sentiments and more with the realities of its demographic's needs. The exception to this is the Coruscant District. Nicknamed that as a joke that ended up sticking, it has the largest concentration of humans that live or frequently pass through the Jovan station on business. If there is one slice of cosmopolitan Core culture it would be here. The language is almost exclusively Basic, the toilets are actually made for a near-human and the food is dead on the plate. The district is mostly looked upon with amusement by the other denizens of the station. Its bright neon lights, handful of entertainment establishments and rowdy crowds in the night seem garish in contrast to the other living districts.

Outlook Cresh - Crime is kept to a minimum on Jovan. The people are mostly no-nonsense, hard working and cringe when they are reminded of the Coruscant District. But even the hardest worker sometimes needs a pick-me-up. While most criminal elements are immediately wiped out, when they crop up, Outlook Cresh has managed to survive. Some skeptics suggest that the Outlookers have an arrangement with the station administrator. Either way- Outlook Cresh is a living bazaar: always on the move, never appearing in the same place twice in a row. Its wares change, its faces too. But whenever they appear? Everyone knows they will be gone within the hour. They sell everything from illegal substances, exclusive liquor, weapon mods and more. Hell, if you have been locked out your warehouse bay? They might even have an access card for you.

SECURITY
[ Medium ]

  • Reinforced bulkdoors.
  • Cameras.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Jovan Station has been a crucial point of entry for its system for as long as everyone can remember.

In the years before the Gulag Plague it was a flashpoint of activity. A place that could theoretically lock-down much of the food trade of the Reach in one swoop. Throughout the years of the Gulag Plague this importance has waned. The various member worlds of the Reach grew isolated, while the plague ravaged its way through their populations. Either they learned to grow their own food... or they perished. With the Gulag Plague gone for decades now, the Jovan system has once again recaptured some of its old importance. Much of its foodstuffs are exported to the rest of the Reach.

Even now though, without the Plague, it has not managed to conquer the existential nature it once embodied.

After the absorption of the Gordian Reach by the Sith Empire the Reach found itself under new management. Even more so with the rise of the Thirrikens, who had been dreaming of their time of return for centuries and more. One of their first orders were much-needed restorations for the Jovan Station. It had been outdated, outpaced, but with monetary funds flowing in the output of the Jovan system increased and diversified.

They were able to export new foodstuffs, perishables that the station hadn't been able to store for long-term in the past. Livestock too.

Now the station administrator of the Jovan Station has ambitions. Why not try to recapture the magic of the old? Lower the prices... use the tensions of the region and destroy the competition. Why wouldn't the Jovan System be able to become the sole provider of foodstuffs again?
