Who we are:
The Hapes Consortium is a relatively small faction on the galactic scale, but they control 63 star systems within an Inner Rim star cluster surrounded by an ionized HII emission nebula called the "Transitory Mists", which is pretty much a space no-man's-land, no pun intended.

The Hapans are a breed of Humans adapted to the bright, isolated microcosm of the Hapes Cluster. On average, the Hapans are considered generally more attractive than the average Human (by humanoid standards) but, because no world within the cluster's envelope experiences true night, they cannot see well in the dark. They are a matriarchal society, but this is not to be construed with misoandry (We are not pre-imperial Kuat).

Hapan is the lingua fraca of the region, but Basic is a common secondary language now commonly spoken. Governments are constitutional, but are headed by hereditary nobility known for their intense, but deceptively cordial rivalries among themselves. The ultimate authority is the Queen Mother, ruler of the throne world of Hapes Prime.

What is our faction about?

The Hapes Consortium is well known for its Royal Navy, which is canonically enormous with iconic, distinctive ship designs, such as the Hapan Battle Dragon. These days, new ships have been developed to replace these, but still using what design aspects are still useful.

From a Military and combat RP standpoint, Naval fleet combat, fighter combat, and even soldiers are certainly desirable. We intend to be more active in the board's various future conflicts and make alliances with non-dark side and non-Imperial factions, preferably.

Alternatively, there is plenty of room for political intrigue RP of the Game of Thrones calibre... think of Hapan politics and even Nobility lifestyle RP as GoT: Star Wars Edition. It's dangerous intrigue that involves assassination attempts, political sabotage, and espionage, all with deceptive cordial smiles and high fashion.... your Noble rivals smile to your face, but are figuratively (or perhaps literally) hiding a vibroblade behind their backs with your name on it.

What are we looking for?

We need fleet RPers, chiefly. Good ones that take pride in detail oriented fleet work, can keep track of several things at once in a space battle (known to be dynamic and at times chaotic), and can add flavour to the fleet posts to make the NPCs and PCs alike that are involved relatable. We are also seeking people willing to play soldiers, such as Royal Space Marines, special operations units (there are a few. if interested, ask me or [member="Allana Badeaux"] for more information), Cyborg Warriors (think almost on par with Halo's Spartans), and Combat pilots.

If military RP isn't your cup of tea, we can handle a couple more Nobles, but there are literally tonnes of civilian roles available that only need a creative mind to bring to life. The Noble intrigue, espionage RP, and even civvie life are underwritten roles that need filling, too. Force Users are welcome, of course, but Hapan Society doesn't have its own Force tradition yet. We'd be willing to develop one with enough RP leading in that direction, though. Hapans have been historically hostile to Jedi and other Force Users, but having had a Jedi Queen, Tenel Ka Djo, once and friendly relations through her, it is possible to have attitudes toward Jedi to finally soften and become more accepting... so creating a uniquely Hapan Force tradition is certainly fertile ground that has yet to be tapped.

What are our goals?

The Hapes Consortium is generally self sufficient, but it has interests in forming alliances with the outside galaxy, so long as they are not dealing with Imperial type factions, Gangster factions, or Dark Side factions. If we can grow to major size and status, we may have interests in expanding territory for mainly industrial and defensive fortification purposes. The Hapes Cluster itself is relatively secure, even with a minor faction inhabiting it, so adding more fortress worlds and defense outposts for a gigantic Navy would make the natural fortress of the Hapes Cluster pretty much impenetrable by large hostile forces. Many worlds also have resources the Hapans would have no problem having more of, especially Tibanna gas. Corporate manufactories would also be a likely industrial result, apart from the acquisition of new strategic and luxury resources.

Despite Hapes cultural shortcomings, such as deadly squabbles among their nobility and, from an outsider's point of view, their disallowance of men to rule/have significant political authority in most cases, Hapes is generally benevolent as a faction once the xenophobia wears away during the projected expansion period we're shooting for. If you want to divide the factions between black-and-white, good and evil, Light and Dark, Hapes would be centre Light/Good. It would be considered a heroic faction, rather than villainous. This, of course, is not to say heroes can't come up from factions traditionally considered evil or villains can't rise from factions considered good, but to put it in simple terms, Hapes wants to establish itself as an honourable, benevolent force for good and stand in the defense against evil.

Current plotline
The Dredge event brought the GE to Hapes Prime to attempt to wipe out the threat. However, not only did their massively destructive attack on the being have no serious effect, the collateral damage was devastating. The city centre of Ta'a Chume'Dan, Hapes Capital city, was leveled and many thousands of Hapan civilian citizens were murdered. Still others had been mutated and used by Dredge as an army of abominations. A heavy, dreadful Wound in the Force now hangs over the capital city.

Now, with the entity gone, the city is being gradually rebuilt, sector by sector. However, not all is well with this effort. A minority of the people present who survived or were within the vicinity of the planet began exhibiting odd symptoms in the form of muscle aches, lethargy, vomiting, and dark patches resembling contusions on random places on the skin. Children and the elderly were most susceptible to the worst of the symptoms, which ultimately started to prove lethal. They called it "Terrastigma", Hapan for "Planet Scar". Why the disease is so discriminating is not known for certain, but it is speculated to be related to Force Sensitivity; all who where afflicted had blood work that suggested Force Sensitivity.

The Hapes Cluster is under a tight military quarantine, ever since the Dredge incident, with fleets of Royal Navy ships stationed at checkpoints around the rim regions of the star cluster. The only safe routes in or out of the Transitory Mists are also mined by pulse mass generators, effectively interdicting them, ripping any incoming or outgoing ships from Hyperspace and within the grasp of the stiff military presence.

Ta’a Chume – Queen Mother
Mr. [member="Gilamar Skirata"] it is! By a Royal proclamation the Consortium has reopened its policy to do trade outside the Hapes Cluster. Shall I open an opponent where we can talk about details?
