Jen'ari combat tournament - invite only

The large spires towered above the arena platform; four them set on each corner of the raised stone floor. Archaic as it appeared, even the four pillars had notched eight feet high on each one, which had been holstered a torch that was lit and flickering brightly, illuminating the surrounding areas. The large tomb that housed this arena was also accompanied by two souls. Krake Sabus and Jack Anderson, both of them knew why they had been brought here, the Order of Jen’Ari had certainly been clear on that.

The gray skinned Zabrak waited, his dull yellow-orange eyes flickered for any such movements from his opponent who stood directly across the platform. Krake tried to sense what his combatant was planning, but the force wouldn’t tell him that, no matter how hard he tried to sense it. Krake slowly reached for both his hilts that rested on either side of his waist. As he pulled them from their holsters orange beams of lights erupted from the tops of the hilts, which both were aimed behind Krakes forearms. ‘Ffffkrrrrshhzzzwoom!’

The orange lights emanating short blade lightsabers casted around the Zabrak, his spikes atop his head shadowing in multiple directions, his appearance was unsettling while the active lightsabers emitted a constant ‘Nnnnnnnn’ sound.

Krake moved one foot forward, his stance now in a more aggressive pose and his arms moving slightly further away from his body, the light sabers letting out a faint ‘Woom’ behind him.

“I won’t be so easy.” Krake stated, his tone was direct and solid as he spoke to Jack Anderson.

As soon as the last word left his mouth, the Zabrak exploded into the air, body twisting in such a way that the orange lights from his sabers left long after images in a lit trail behind him. ‘Vraaauuu’ Krake’s decent would land him just in front of Jack.

Jack hadn't come alone to this fight, sure he wasn't exactly going to flood the arena with troops, but the members of the 701st were here, ready to watch the fight, most of them clearly expected their commader to win, and Jack felt the same, he needed the high stress and pressure to really get his adrenaline running and his heart pumping. He looked around the arena, due to the edge he expected it to give him Jack was not in his normal combat armour, but rather a set of Sith Battle Armour gifted to him by Darth Vyrassu himself his, in his hands were a pair of tonfa styled lightsabers, their handles coated in phrik to both protect his arms and keep them safe from getting destroyed in combat.

Jack looked over his opponent, not with his eyes but with the force, his armour had a visor that covered his eyes, in conjunction with the Sith Amulet embedded into the armour allowed him to focus his abilities better and 'see without seeing' it seemed to help prevent him from tunnel visioning on a single aspect to the detriment of everything else on a fight. He was not impressed with that he saw, a thug, a thug with a pair of lightsabers, He wouldn't even need to drag the Zabrak down to his own level to win the fight with experience.

Jack pulled a quick smirk as he heard his opponent tell him he wouldn't be easy, all he retorted with was "If I wanted karking easy I'd go visit your mother!"

The insult was both to get his opponent off balance and psych Jack up himself, he held the tonfas up in a defensive position as his opponent jumped at him, but didn't ignite them, he wanted the satisfaction of hitting something with a blunt object right now, he wanted not just to beat his opponent, but break him, beat him into submission and make him dread the name Jack Anderson. When his opponent landed Jack used the temporary change of focus required for a landing to make two swings with the dormant tonfas one was real, the other was actually a disguised gesture to tug at his opponent's feet with the force and knock him off guard and off balance.

Krake landed gracefully, but what appeared to be a blind frontal assault was a feint at that, as both feet landed the Zabrak tumble rolled in mid air to the side, his lightsabers whirling around with him as he kept his arms inward shield his body from any swiping blows. If Krake had seen Jack make a move towards his lower behalf, no one could tell. Krake did sense the area where his feet had been a thrust of the force.

Narrowing his eyes, Krake landed to the side, his orange glowing sabers posed one in front of him across his chest, and the other outstretched behind him. The Zabrak felt he’d been underestimated, a novice move to not expect an attack as he landed, and to made a fool if to not expect Jack to attempt such an attempt. The troopers were surrounding them, Krake didn’t recognize a single one, but that was expected since they all had followed in behind Jack, leading Krake to believe that Jack Anderson was their commanding officer.

About the comment to his mother, Krake found the words used insignificant, and he blinked at what a Sith would even try toying with a Zabrak’s emotions such as that. Krake barely remembered his family, so such a comment didn’t faze him in the least, but it did perplex him to why Jack would attempt it.

Standing still at that stance, Krake knew that Jack was quick to wit, and he would need to wait for his opponent to make some sort of move. The visor that Jack was wearing did make it a little harder to judge where his opponent might move, or attack. This situation would need to solely rely on the force, which he needed to always do.

It was quiet again, aside from Krake’s humming light sabers. ‘Nnnnnnnnnn’

Remaining in that pose, everyone would see the dark black robes that hung loosely off Krake’s frame while he waited in that stance. He wondered if Jack Anderson knew how the Iridonian martial arts was structured.

Jack would have loved to have been on the other side of the arena, rifle in hands but this wasn't that type of fight, unfortunately, a pest like this he would have just killed with a flame projector and had it done with, but duels had rules and other karaking poodoo, so if Jack wanted the prize he was going to have to follow them. His probe proved his opponent wasn't an amateur, he did jump at Jack like one though, at least he knew that anyone worth their karaking salt would try and get him good for doing that.

Behind the visor Jack started searching for an opening but couldn't see much more than a trap waiting for him, he could taste the anticipation of his next attack, like whatever move he made next was going to be the wrong one, the only way to win was to not play, but not playing also lost, it gave his opponent the advantage of being on the offensive. Jack loved thinking like this, he was a solider long before he was a commander, and a hunter before that analysing his prey, playing with them, prodding the for vulnerabilities, and an intelligent foe was always the best. Jack started to throw simple and easily deflected attacks at his opponent, the goal of which was to use the human genes of an endurance hunter to his advantage, while the Zabrak, despite the advantage second heart were carnivores, they needed small bursts of high energy followed long rest periods, humans before weapons would run down prey, and let them drop from exhaustion, Jack wanted to see if the old as the dirt they stood on strategy would hold true.

ONE. TWO. THREE. FOUR.
Every shot was calculated to be pushed aside rather than re-directed with the goal of giving his opponent as little to work with as possible as he presented himself as a counter attacker, though Jack did make sure to keep his mind's eye open for any sign that the balance was going to shift and Jack was going to have to go on the defence and change his plans.
ONE. TWO. THREE. FOUR.
Jack continued, wanting to give his opponent a pattern to settle into, make him lazy, sap his energy, force his mind to focus on the next blocking the next attack rather than the overall strategy of the battle the pair was undertaking.

ONE. TWO. THREE. FOUR.
Jack did have to admit that meeting someone who was meant to be an equal match on the battlefield was going to be fun, keep things him from going rusty, the only way to improve was to challenge yourself.

ONE. TWO. THREE. FOUR. FIVE! SIX!
Jack broke his pattern suddenly with the activation of one of the tonfas mid swing suddenly braking the established pattern and throwing a low blow towards his opponents left leg, while a high blow was ready to strike and cover the Zabrak's escape should he dodge in the same way as the first low blow Jack attempted with the force pull.

(This fight needed a little music, so I bought some)

Taking to the defensive Krake allowed Jack to advance forward. This would allow Krake to learn to what sort of fighting style this man harbored. The type of lightsaber hilts, ‘tonfas’ the Zabrak was not accustom to, but he did know they were a brutal type no matter how they were used. Krake tried to keep a certain amount of distance as even a deactivated tonfras to the leg or arm could prove breaking.

The crowd of troops shifted just outside the arena, watching as their commanding officer was taking to the offensive. Krake could feel the anticipation stir in the be area they were combating in. This wouldn’t aid Jack Anderson, but Krake suspected he would certainly change up his format, which to the Zabrak’s surprise, he did.

The foot work and jabs, swipes, swings, appeared to be a continuous relay of a constant pattern, or at least Krake picked this up after the second display of it, and confirming it certainly by the third time. Taking to the initiative, Krake felt when given the opportunity to attack, he would most certainly take it, even if the pattern was easy enough to open for such an easy invite.

“Ttcch” Krake said allowed just before he was about to advance on Jack, the pattern changed, and Krake felt the fool for not suspecting it. One of the tonfas activated were Krake would most like block or avoid, and avoiding was is primary instinct. The Zabrak shifted his weight and using that momentum to dodge out of the way, if able he would fling one of his short light sabers outward and allow it to swing around with a force pull, but that opportunity escaped itself as well. Jack had left little to be done, as his opposite side was also being threatened.

Krake felt the force slam into his body like a wall pulling him in the direction of Jack Anderson. This caused Krake to react on reflex and instinct. His body unwillingly spinning with that right sided pull, but keeping his light sabers in hand, low enough for any assault towards his body, a display of orange light flinging and flashing around as his body spun. Bright orange light marked the stone floor in several places, the saber burns displaying their presence left behind.

Partly unaware to what Jack was planning next, Krake tumbled to the side after his opponents attack, allowing a roll just several feet away to set his footing. Krake planned to either advance or retreat further back. He’d been played a fool upon simple trick and it irked fiercely.

Krake changed his stance, and with one saber high, and one low he presented the offensive stance once again.

Jack had a smirk on his face as his attack was successful, he took pleasure in the satisfaction of feeling the flesh and bone being impacted by the metal of his weapon. But Jack did know, a trick like that wouldn’t work again, at least not if he used it in the same way, but he did learn a valuable bit of information, very valuable, his opponent loved to dodge and the best way to hit him was to trap him, giving no escape routes and giving him no choice to stand and fight.

Jack want to lunge in the second he saw his opponent land but still, every instinct and reflex screamed that this was a trap. He figured the moment he made an offensive move towards Krake the Zabrak would launch an assault as soon as Jack committed himself to an attack, it was exactly the kind of thing he would do himself. So Jack reached out with the force again, and gave a wholesale just shove at Krake, in a perfect launching him back into the pillar a few meters behind him, but things were never perfect, Jack only intended to get his target off balance resisting the attack, or just lose his focus even just momentarily so that Jack had the opportunity to close the gap unhindered. Once again with the attacks Jack would throw out, they were just meant to be distractions made to tire out his opponent, since he he did have anything in mind at the moment for a strike Jack just kept things varied, but not so much that he had to focus on not making the same attack twice, just looking to wear him down.

A tired opponent was a lazy opponent, this was something Jack knew inside and out, a scared opponent was also a sloppy one, but Jack had no expectations of scaring Krake, despite his confidence over the man, Jack knew that he was still a proper warriors and wouldn’t scare easily. Trying would be a waste of his own energy, and in an endurance match like what Jack was going for, he needed to conserve as much of it as he possibly could.
