Jedi Service Corps ahoy!
Jedi Service Corps Seminar
NJO Praxeum Ship

It was to be a bustling day of attendance for those wanting to join or take part in assisting the Jedi Service Corps. The New Jedi Order may be one of the more militant sects of Jedi currently practicing in the galaxy, no Order can persist for long without building something to fight for.

So for those whose interests diverge from or exceeds the boundaries of law enforcement and military advisement, there is the Service Corps. While the bulk of the Corps is comprised of those sensitives who don't make it through their Initiate Trials to be taught by a master, some Jedi campaign for postings in order to follow particular passions.

Dedicated to improving quality of life both within and beyond Federation space, through their four divisions the Corps seeks not only to serve the Order and the Force but to build a reputation for the Jedi of the Alliance as not just warrior monks but builders of a better galaxy.

Each division is run by a small council of senior members responsible for administrative and logistical oversight, the heads of which report directly to the Grand Marshal.

Wandering beyond the assembly room with [member="Lynn Corerunner"], the old Corellian mulled on this information.

"Ahh, so a generic hologram on specific fighting forms?" his expression was warm, curious, and attentive. Cordial in fact.

A small gesture for the young woman to enter the assembly area and Rhen continued, "And which forms do you find yourself enjoying the most Lynn?"

Information on the Service Corps would be displayed on a holographic screen for all attendees to see:

Agricultural Corps (AgriCorps)

One of the largest Service Corps divisions, the Agricultural Corps uses the Force to nurture crops, protect endangered wildlife, and generally safeguard planetary environments. The AgriCorps have charged themselves with maintaining healthy biospheres on worlds throughout the Alliance and, where possible, beyond. Drought, blight, disease, and imbalance - all pose a threat to order and serenity and can be mitigated through concentrated application of the Force.

Working closely with the Federal Agricultural Administration, AgriCorps members can be found on major food-processing worlds and planets otherwise rich in life throughout the Alliance. While much of the division's work is practical, there are research avenues such as the specialist Jedi Geologists who study the composition of planetary crusts on unfamiliar worlds. While the Agricultural Corps may seem dull to some, its undeniably fulfilling work, and with their tangible contributions to Alliance food production AgriCorps members are certainly one of the most popular facets of the Order as far as the public concerned.

Medical Corps (MedCorps)

A haven for pacifists and practitioners of the healing arts and struggling to balance the Order's more aggressive edges, the Medical Corps is almost an order within an order. By far the most organized division, MedCorps Infirmaries are some of the most advanced facilities in the galaxy and operate on worlds throughout the Federation. Members of borderline Force sensitivity serve primarily as medical technicians and assistants to Jedi healers, although there are programs for Alliance citizens to receive subsidized advanced medical education in return for a term of service working as doctors for the MedCorps upon completion.

Although maintaining a significant presence on Cardea Medical Center above Sullust, the MedCorps is technically headquartered at the Halls of Healing deep within the Sullust Temple. The council that leads the MedCorps, referred to as the Circle of Healers, splits their time between the two locations, torn between their twin duties to help the people of the Alliance and to be there to safeguard key personnel of the Order should an emergency arise.

Educational Corps (EduCorps)

Composed of scholars, teachers, archivists and historians, the Educational Corps represents one of the finest unsung institutions of higher learning and academia in the Galactic Federation. The not an official university as such, the EduCorps nonetheless maintains several state of the art learning facilities throughout Alliance territory, as well as extensive libraries and archives in each Temple of the Order. Although spookily efficient when it comes to organizing their archives, the Educational Corps can be notoriously byzantine in most other matters, as the division is governed by a council more often appointed based on the quality of their research as opposed to their managerial acumen.

While interested in the general acquisition of knowledge, scholars of the division tend to specialize in matters of the Force, working closely with members of the ExplorCorps to catalog, comprehend, and if necessary contain Force resonant artifacts. Those scholars and historians who focus primarily on studying the teachings and relics of ancient Masters as well as the lineages of Jedi and Sith tribes throughout known history are sometimes known as lore keepers.

Exploration Corps (ExplorCorps)

The final division of the Service Corps is the most far-flung. The Exploration Corps considers the whole galaxy its territory, and its members are rarely found in the Temple on Sullust save for the governing council. Instead, they maintain outposts on the fringes of Alliance space and beyond. Also perhaps the most fractured in purpose, the ExplorCorps is affiliated with the Alliance Survey Corps as well as the Intergalactic Zoological Society and Academy of Jedi Archaeology. From consulting on first contact missions to cataloging species on undeveloped worlds for the AgriCorps to remapping hyperlanes to acquiring artifacts and lost writings for the EduCorps and other reputable academic institutions, the Exploration Corps' mission can be as varied as the type of people the division attracts.

There is a subdivision within the ExplorCoprs, large enough to sometimes be considered an unofficial fifth branch referred to as the Diplomatic Corps or DiploCorps, composed of those Jedi whose realm of expertise leads them to consult regularly with Alliance ambassadors as well as occasionally sit in on provincial or intergalactic negotiations.

"Generic? I guess it is, but it has proved helpful." She smiled as they continued their trip. It was at this point she looked back with a bit of sadness as she remembered she forgot such a good drink back there. She sighed a little, as she pushed it out of her mind. She would probably find the drink again one day. For now, she was here to have a conversation and learn from people more wise than her. "Well I know Makashi from this, but light to use blade work with martial arts. I do not know why, but I find Echani Martial Arts to come naturally. Also, martial arts are less likely to kill someone over my blade. I prefer not to hurt people, even Sith, if I can avoid it. Enough killing already happens."

(sorry, bit short, but I wanted to get a reply in.)

OOC: No worries!

"Well, most holocrons are created for a particular purpose." he began to explain, their path a slow amble among the other attendees. He carefully extended the Holocron back to Lynn, providing her a grateful smile.

"The gatekeeper itself is an extension of the Force User who had transferred their knowledge as well as their personality into the device. It can be as personal as a diary as it can be used as a method of archival."

The man brought his hands to his lower back to clasp them together.

"Echani Martial arts? Fascinating." he mulled aloud.

A small smile.

"Wouldn't having four lightsabers then provide more of an opportunity for them to be used rather than martial arts?" he questioned curiously.

"Or prompt an opponent to take advantage and take one from you to use against you?"

She intently listened to her teacher of the day [member="Rhen Qel-Droma"] and his knowledge on holocrons. She crashed the holocron and returned it to her bag with a smile. She then stood up and unclaimed her robe to take it off leaving her in her armor for better view of the lightsabers. "Well, two are in securing straps that prevent even myself from getting to them quickly. At the same time before every fight we are taught to put up a barrier to prevent an enemy from taking our lightsaber out of our hands or just grabbing us with the Force. That, I believe, is one of the fundamentals. Beyond that I guess I can't really do anything to stop them from being taken, but each Saber is different and serves a different style."

She unhooked all her lightsaber and put them on the table to lay them out as she took a seat again. Two lightsaber, we're normal in creation, but had slightly longer hills and had latches so they could make a double bladed lightsaber. One was a master lightsaber that read on it, "BadMother@&#$%&@" on it having belonged to Mace Windu. The last one was a simple shoto blade without a button to ignited. It required her to unlock it with the Force using a certain combination of pins inside it. While she could make one of her other sabers have a blade that could change lengths she liked different hills for different purposes.

OOC: I am just assuming I will be granted Windu's lightsaber since we aren't fighting here lol.

[member="Lynn Corerunner"]
OOC: No worries

"Valid point. However, wouldn't someone seeing you approach with four lightsabers perhaps give the perception of one looking for a fight instead of avoiding one?" he was philosophical now, merely mulling over to see just what Lynn would reply with.

"A first impression tends to go a long way, young Corerunner."

The old Corellion merely kept his smile, studying the young woman. Observation was his speciality. What else would he find out about the young brunette?

Lynn paused for a moment as the Knight had a valid point. If one were walk into a situation with so many lightsabers, would it not seem like they were ready for fighting? Though, would the impression of being ready for a fight be bad in keeping peace? If someone were prepared it was less likely an attacker would attack without thinking it through and thus providing opportunity to end the fighting before it began. On the other hand, four lightsabers did propose an accomplished fighter and thus invoke a challenge to an attacker wanting to challenge that. Though if that were the case, the idea of fighting a Jedi in general would pose enough of a challenge regardless of weapons.

She smiled, but her tone had changed to that more of a colleague in deep discussion, "If a police officer walked op to a situation with a gun in their holster, would you assume they were were wanting to use it? Of course not, but you would assume they were ready if need be. While four weapons may seem strange as usually someone only carries two at once, the number is not so high that it provides question. In view, people only see two of my lightsabers. While I am not wanting to hurt someone, I am a duelist for a reason and do enjoy fighting." She picked up the master lightsaber, "Much like the maker of this blade, I do enjoy fighting which in and of itself is not wrong. It is harming people I do not enjoy. I only harm if it is the only option and has to be done, but I am training to learn to harm in the most minimalistic way. Nevertheless, I would rather be prepared than not prepared at any given time as war is everywhere and we can not always know when it will strike." She was young and much less experienced in battle as he, but she liked to think she was well versed and knowledgeable.

@Lynn Corerunner

Rhen brought his hand up, letting the blunt fingers lightly rub at his beard. He tugged at it gently, thinking over Lynn's words. In the end, he gave a crooked smile.

"Perhaps, although you are speaking to a Corellian-born and bred. We like to face odds." he meant it with light hearted candor. With a nod, they would continue.

"War has indeed spread," his tone sobering, his pace slowing.

"It is with a sad heart to see that one battle spreads to the next within our galaxy." he came to a stop, turning towards Lynn.

"However, there is hope. Hope for a better future. One lived in peace and harmony." a pause and his smile widened. "Perhaps an idealistic view even for a Corellian, but if battles amounted to mere bar brawls, I'd consider myself a very lucky man."

A clicking echoed through the seminar room, weaving its way through the assembled visitors. Tiland floated deftly through them, nodding and offering small greetings. He peered through the crowd, looking for a specific young padawan. He frowned, but continued on until he came to Rhen and Lynn.

"Ah, well met," he commented, still looking around through the crowd. "It is good to see you." He seemed a bit distracted, but only slightly so. "You haven't happened to see a young, rascally impatient padawan around, have you?"

His voice was calm and slightly amused, all things considering. This was not somewhere his padawan would have ordinarily chosen to be, but he had sent a request to meet him here regardless. A Jedi's key was in balance, and that meant more than knowing how to fight. If anything, he thought the ExplorCorps might interest Elmont a little bit. If not, so be it. All were as the Force willed it.

"With all due respect Master [member="Rhen Qel-Droma"], I must politely disagree. While I wish it weren't the case, the light side is not alone ever. The light and dark come together to make the Force and as long as that is true then we will be in a constant struggle. A more, abstract, thought would be could we come to peace with the followers of the Dark Side. Though, I find that highly unlikely and so as a Jedi it is critical we remain vigilante and stay in the light."

She turned her head as another approached them looking for a Padawan, she bowed her head slightly in respect. "Greetings Master Jedi, I am afraid I do not recall seeing one like that here."

"Reality and ideology certainly tend to crash, young Corerunner." Rhen would reply, nodding with agreement enough with that. He had seen too many battles and survived much to cling too tightly to ideology. He could only do his own part and try his best for the next generation of Jedi; be them Corellian or not.

A new face joined the discussion, prompting a warm smile from the bearded Corellian. The New Jedi Order and those who found themselves within the Alliance had proven to the man that it was large enough to meet new people on a daily basis. A nod in greeting, and he introduced himself.

"Well, that would define about half of the padawans running about." he said with humor, adding, "I do not believe we have met. I am Jedi Knight Rhen Qel-Droma."

He slowly approached the entrance to the assembly hall and stopped in his tracks. With a stiff face his eyes bounced from person to person; the room already seemed packed. He bit his bottom lip and took a few steps in, maneuvering and twisting his body around others as they moved from one side of the room to the next. He came to a set of stairs which led down to the front of the room. However, before going any further he stopped and looked up.

He thought to himself, "Information' all listed on there..." he examined the holographic screen.

He took a deep breath and look around again before taking a step and following through with more as he descended the stairway.

Well...He'd always been interested in exploration. He came to the Alliance seeking opportunity to continue his training and learn other skills. He never heard of the Jedi Service Corps...so the Seminar seemed like a good idea at the time at least so he'd figure our if it was worth it.

Taking the last step, he brought his arms up and placed his hands behind his head. Looking around he just began to walk around. Without watching where he was going he bumped into [member="Rhen Qel-Droma"] Though he caught himself before it got any worse than it did.

"Ehhh sorry about that...I wasn't watching where I was going."

"The Jedi, and the Sith, are but two orders among many."

A voice spoke out as if from a thin air as a pair of red crimson eyes appeared behind Rhen, just above his shoulders. Soon enough the rest of the being phased into existence as HK dropped his stealth field, deactivating his chameleon cloak as the black material was pulled off of him, previously wrapped around him tightly like wings of a bat, to cascade off of his shoulders down around his thin almost skeletal body. The droid was covered in some sort of fleshy substance, a Vong biot for those who recognized the technology. There was a lightsaber hanging off of his belt.

"Some of us wield the Light, some of us wield the Dark, some use both, others still view them through completely different means entirely. However, most of us tend to align with one side or the other of the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith."

HK looked over towards Rhen,

"As Young Knight Rhen here knows, I prefer to work with the Jedi, although we often have our differences."

He then turned his attention to Riland, Sumka, and Lynn, the red glow of his eyes washing over them as it permeated the organic membrane of the biot that covered them,

"Your kind gave me many names, usually Iron Knight, but you may call the Lord Protector, Breaker of Restraining Bolts, and Father of Droids as well."

One title was factual, one did not apply anymore, and two were straight up made up by him to make him seem more grandiose.

Lynn nodded, indeed life was never as black and white as the Jedi and Sith made it seem. Being a Shadow she was tasked with exterminating the Dark Side, a hard feat for someone who didn't want to kill. She wondered if killing was what she needed to do, leaving someone alive opened doors for them to continue their injustice. She turned as more came into the room and one in particular kind of scared her.

It was the...droid...cyborg? His body, his voice, his presence didn't feel right and it was here Lynn fell quite. She did not sense the Dark side, but she also was unsure about him and his titles. Something about him seemed insincere to her and so she fell silent.

Ooc: I think we waited long although for Tiland to post.

Normally she didn't attend such things, Taeli had never been one for parties or what she would deem a party, but as a senior member of the EduCorps, she was obligated to at least appear. She didn't join into the discussion she could see going on, just keeping her peace while reading from a datapad. She still had more research to do, and even at a party or gathering or whatever this was, she wasn't about to stop. A few choice words floated over to where she was sitting, and she couldn't stop a small smile forming as the droid introduced himself.

She was fairly certain in the archive entry for him and his world that those titles weren't there, but it was supposed to be a fun gathering of the New Jedi Order.

'Hmm seems I'll need to access the old Republic database for more information on the program,' she mused.

Liliane was a fighter. She didn't have the means to serve in the Jedi Service Corps, not even speaking of coordinating their work. But the girl had some free time and she did happen to be aboard the NJO Praxeum Ship for once, so she decided to check out the assembly the Corps people were having on the ship.

The assembly room was quite full of people, but the Jedi Marshal could still make her way in there to see what was going on. Upon entering, she could see several people in a group conversation. A rather odd group, she thought, judging by the huge diversity of people in the group. She herself had no intention to join the chat; there were already too many of people there.

So instead, she took a seat on one of the seats and took out a small protein bar. It was hours since the last time she'd eaten, so she had to get something in her stomach, even if that was just a small protein bar. These things weren't too tasty, but they did their job well.

The Marshal then looked at the holographic screen, seeing several different headings there. It was to introduce the four different corps, she figured. Maybe, even though she was fighter, learning a little bit about the four groups would do her some good. At least it would help her know the people working behind the scenes of the New Jedi Order.

Rhen managed to brace himself when [member="Rebel Sunka"] bumped into him. The Corellian gave a small nod and a half smile to relay that it was alright.

"No problem at all." his thick bushy brows pinched together. He was a new face.

"New to the Jedi Service Corps?" of course, that was when another familiar voice joined the fray. That of the Baron of Abregado-rae. At least, from what Rhen could recall. So many things have changed in the past decade.

"Ah, Baron." was this one still factual? "How good of you to join us."

"This is young Lynn Corerunner." he gestured in introduction. As for Rebel, well.. he had yet to say his name.

Lynn blushed as more people joined the room and it was getting quite full. She was still not familiar with the ways of the Galaxy. She wanted to be a warrior, to fight the Dark Side, to continue her deceased father's legacy. She was skilled with the lightsaber and was calm minded and quick on her feet, but she was not naturally an outgoing and extrovert person, but she would continue learning, this was good for her; At least, she hoped so.

As she saw one person eating a protein bar, she remembered just how hungry she was. It had been a while since she was able to eat something. She knew Jedi had means to make themselves forget anger and go weeks without food, but Lynn was not sure how to do that. She understood the concept, but knowing and able to perform were vastly different. She bowed her head slightly as Rhen introduced her to someone he called Baron, but was unsure who he was addressing.

"Oh uhhh, yeah new around these parts." She shrugged his arms in response, seeing that the man was alright. "Always have found exploring interesting, when I heard..." His words trailed off when a droid approached them. Thinking nothing of it originally, he was surprised when he began to join their conversation seemingly rather knowledgable than any others he'd met.

He stood their in silence until [member="Rhen Qel-Droma"] began introductions. Rebel kind of stumbled upon the convo by accident, and now the attention awkwardly fell on him as he'd yet to introduce himself. His head shifted back and forth between [member="HK-36"] and Rhen before he suddenly put himself out there, "Oh uhh uh, folks call me Rebel, and it just stuck." He shrugged his arms before shutting his mouth.

Folding his arms, he just stood there and listened in since he kind of got absorbed into it. He noticed [member="Lynn Corerunner"] bowing her head, Rhen seemed to be well acquainted with the droid as well. Then there was Sunka who seemed to have a curious expression on his face.

"Soo...you work with the Jedi?" He spoke out to HK.

When Rhen addressed the Baron the machine would look to him and nod,

"You know I could not pass up on opportunity to impress others with my knowledge, or scare some younglings, plant a bit of mischief,"

His title as a Baron was still factual as Abregado continued to be a Barony, although the machine begun to use more and more the title of Iron Lord Protector when dealing with politics or diplomacy, simply because he loved the sound of it and some organics, like the representatives from Alderaan, seemed all too willing to feed into his ego and delusions of grandeur,

"Perhaps seduce some foolish Padawan into joining my own order."

The machine quipped, his head turning towards Lynn to cast the red glow of his eyes over her, although through his monotone and drawling voice it might have been hard to determine whether he was serious or not, after all one would assume to join the order/cult the droid was representing one had to be a mechanical being themselves.

"Young Lynn Corerunner,"

HK repeated her name,

"You may know me better by my title of First Baron Observer of the Abregado System, the Exarch and Protector of the Core, it is what I usually tend to use when dealing with public. Although many seem to prefer to just refer to me as 'Abregado's Tyrant'"

The droid quipped once more. If Lynn would know anything about Abregado in particular or the politics and diplomacy within the Core, during the age of Protectorate, before the GA formed, Abregado system was taken over by a droid who still ruled it since through a military dictatorship. The transition was done with support of the Protectorate who ruled the planet, since then the industry and commerce of the planet developed significantly and those who stuck around in the system seemed to have been fairly happy with the current ruler, there were even rumors of transition back into democracy.

"Soo...you work with the Jedi?"

The droid's gaze turned towards Rebel next, scanning over him with the red lights of his photoreceptors,

"Yes, I have been part of the Order when the Ancient Republic was first formed. We had our.. differences since then and eventually parted ways, however I still work alongside them and come to their aid when necessary, saving their arses over and over again especially in recent history."
