Jedi Commanders?

I remember in the Clone Wars Series and in the Canon the Jedi had a promanent place as Military advisors as well as holding the position of commander in the fleet even at ranks of padawan.

Is this still in place?

Would a member of the Jedi order who wanted to become a prominent commander have to raise in the ranks like everyone else?

Are they able to do that?

Or is the military more for NFU's in general and excludes FU's?

Thats up to the senate. I believe a recent vote went against reinstating jedi as commanders.

But, that does not mean you cant lead a task force in an invasion or the like. You just dont have a military rank title to hold.

If you want to command a legion but the republic won't let you lead their troopers, might I suggest some of my boys and girls? Far better than those crummy old republic troopers anyway

Uhm... The republic military is the closest ally to the jedi order on the field. And we are leading at times, but not given the general/commander titles since that is a full time job tbh.

What forces are you talking about [member="Patricia Susan Garter"]?

[member="Mantic Dorn"]

That's a real shame... kinda rolls on the whole story i had going with Savant... need to re-think this now...

uhm...

What if IC'ly the republic didn't know he was a Jedi,

Could I make it a plot thing where Orphen entered the Alliance as an officer with false records? He is a slicer primarily, so it's not beyond the grounds of disbelief.

Jedi don't teach battle tactics and guns... I'm literally going to mandalorians to train me there and I would rather learn it by apprenticing to republic admirals through commander training. q.q

Is That Girl in the Red Dress, a madlax reference?

Anywho.

My character would no doubt like to run with your group, maybe not lead, cos, I'd like to build that up as a side thing.

Well, force users are all over the place. They are in the military as well.
I would go with something like setting up a republic task force put under jedi command. Marines for special operations or so...
Its just story fluff and you could lead a company/battallion especially assigned to the order perhaps?
That way, the senate decission is still valid but you get to write your story.

[member="Ali Hadrix"] - would that make sense to the military?

Wouldnt you like to know :p

Well as a Jedi the role of general/commander is not given. However the company that I run is endorsed by the republic however they aren't official members of the republic military. I run Spaarti Creations a company that needs force users on the front lines helping to lead the men like days of old.

But [member="Mantic Dorn"] if you want your Jedi to be a general of his own personal regiment let me know and I'll make it happen :p

Shame, Orphen is literally the opposite of some-one who should be on the front-lines.

He's the person in a command ship / base overlooking a battle with a computer directing traffic and maybe playing support as a slicer / Battle Meditation if he's actually on the field at all.

[member="Mantic Dorn"]

That works. Thanks for the info, I'll probably do a couple good threads with an admiral from the republic if i can, maybe get some training in the hopes to create a Jedi - Republic coalition task force of some kind which would be under his jurisdiction. Do up the NPC profiles etc.

Have you considered Orphen leaving the Order? A Jedi cannot join the military but that shouldn't stop a civilian from doing so.

Not all force users are Jedi, Sith, Witches Wizards, or other cult members. Braith, for example, is an unaffiliated master of the force. I'm sure if I wanted to I'd be able to join the GR Army or something.
In fact, most force users are not in the jedi order. So, while the order does need its members it is a fair option if you want to go full blown military.

There was a big Senate hooplah back in the day over it, but I don't really remember the details. That was prior to the One Sith, if I remember correctly, so it could be readjusted and reviewed for the current situation.

I think part of the problem was the NFU/FU ration back then was even more unbalanced than now, so the Jedi essentially did everything the NFU characters were for.

Nope, but there are not as many classical "film" jedi/sith around. Most are force users doing their own thing so to speak. Hence most who rp something is also FU on the side.

Few factions are nfu centered as well. Even most mandos are also dark jedi or the like. (no criticism intended, just giving example).

It's just less imbalanced now. The ratio is closer. When this was happening, there were probably only about four of us around in the Republic and closer to fifteenish active Jedi knights/masters plus padawans. Now we're closer to even here.

The Omega Protectorate was predominantly NFUs before it dropped down to minor faction.
