- Thanks to the Diamond Crystal, it sharpens Jax's awareness and reaction time giving him an edge in deflecting blaster bolts.

- Extended use of the higher power setting can overheat the weapon and cause it to short out, or even cause significant or irreversible damage to the focusing crystals.

- Long length means inefficient cuts leaving Jax vulnerable to more precise blows. It also means that when the blade is extended to its maximum length, the overall cutting potential is sacrificed.
Jax created his blade with versatility in mind, being a Jedi Commander or just by simply taking on missions that the council gives him Jax wanted to be a respond to every threat available to him. The first that came to mind was adjusting the blade length to make up for his average defense, the longer the blade, the more his opponent needs to keep their distance from Jax giving him more time to change tactics. The adjustable blade length also made it even easier for Jax to take out large mobs of enemies taking them out in one fell swoop. Recently, Jax experimented with a more experimental approach by increasing the cutting power of his Lightsaber in order to effectively handle Sith Lords. Raised up to its full power, Jax's Lightsaber has the ability to overpower lightsabers but at the cost of the blade overheating and potentially losing his crystal in the process. Jax had 2nd degree burns and nearly lost his hands using this and only activates it in case of emergencies.
