STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
+Military Training: Having served now with three military organizations, Jan has had his fair share of training in several disciplines of hand to hand combat and has become frighteningly numb to the horrors of war. His stamina, strength and spatial awareness are above par and he is a decent pilot to boot. Prior to the rise of the One Sith he was also a member of a Republic's Special Forces unit. Jan is all around a soldier's soldier. Having served in both the Republic's military (which changed several times during his time with them) and the One Sith's military he is well versed in the organization of both militaries. He could arguably play the role of a spy very well, however his knowledge of their weaponry and tactics has been better suited for the role of a grunt, especially considering much of his unit shares his experience in the One Sith and Republic militaries.

-PTSD: Though young, the horrors of war with the One Sith and the subsequent torture and mental conditioning they placed him through once he was captured has left the young man mentally and emotionally scarred. Lack of sleep and sudden, vivid flashbacks have sometimes kept him bedridden for days.

-Coward at Heart: While at some point in his life joining the military was like fulfilling a boyhood dream, since the war with the Sith Empire's conclusion and the subsequent skirmishes with the Mandalorians and war with the One Sith his true colors have shown more than once. Easily giving up his allies or even at one point forsaking the Republic for the One Sith in order to save his own or his unit's life. These decisions weigh on Jan's mind constantly and have drastically diminished his self-confidence, despite the hard shell he puts out for others to see.

-Old Wounds: During his time as a prisoner of the One Sith he was subject to torture by the Vong. His left shoulder still holds a wound from an Amphistaff bite that never healed properly that limits his range of motion on his upper right side. He also has a cybernetic left leg that needs replacement as his body is rejecting the limb.

APPEARANCE:
Brands, scars, and cybernetics are scattered through this young and battered body. While athletic in build, his time as a prisoner of the One Sith is quite easy to see. Probably his most noticeable wound from the One Sith his his missing left leg. For a time he was using a cybernetic replacement but his body rejected the limb and thus scaring became even worse in the region just below his left knee. He normally wears a more primitive prosthetic limb but uses the cybernetic limb when in combat as the other alternative limb isn't suited for the harshness of battle. He also has four large bite marks on his right shoulder and shoulder blade from when he was subject to torture by the Vong. The wound from the Amphistaff never healed correctly, but considering he is still breathing after that is a miracle on its own.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born and raised on the artificial countryside of Coruscant Jan was the son of a Republic soldier and a farmer. His mother served as a Navy lieutenant for decades and was a role model for young Jan. When he was old enough he left his father's farm to join the Republic Naval Academy. While he didn't graduate at the top of his class he received high praise for his bravery in combat situations. He served under the Republic banner during the final stages in the defeat of the Sith Empire. As a ground soldier he proved more and more that he was a leader and an example for all Republic Soldiers. Several years passed and with a single savage strike, an unknown force brought Coruscant to its knees.

The One Sith had come from seemingly nowhere, attacking the Republic from the opposite side of the Galaxy as the old Sith Empire and with more ferocity than had ever been witnessed before. Both his mother and father were killed in the siege, his mother in space defending a strategic medical outpost and his father simply for defying the One Sith troops as they blazed the fields of Coruscant's food supply. Jan was off world at the time and the news hit him like a truck. He was promoted to Special Forces and placed with an advanced unit with high military clearance and waged a bloody campaign against the Sith in guerrilla style skirmishes around Coruscant.

In a flash the Republic was war ready and already on the offensive. However they underestimated their foe and were beat back battle after battle, skirmish after skirmish. Even with the help of the Mandalorians they still were pushed to the edge of the Galactic core with seemingly no effort on the part of the One Sith. The battle of Telti, a minor battle in the grand scheme of things, was where Jan would face his greatest test of will. With his unit pinned down he made the call to surrender in order to save as many men as possible. However the Sith Lord leading the assault on the Fort ordered for every one of his unit to be mowed down. Through some stroke of luck he and one other survived the attack and made contact with the Republic, narrowly escaping capture. Or so they thought. The signal was picked up by the One Sith first and Jan was given a choice, come with them as a prisoner of war and divulge all of the Republic's secrets or be killed on the spot. They told him they would spare his friend's life if he agreed. They lied. Almost broken save for the burning rage in his heart he submitted to his fate.

Nine long months of torture would draw out every secret the ex-Special Forces officer had to offer. When he was offered the chance to fight for the One Sith or be killed his fear once again kicked him in the teeth and he joined their ranks without hesitation. He would commit atrocity after atrocity in the name of his new Dark Lords but one day a shining light would save him from the Darkness. In a skirmish with the budding Galactic Alliance one soldier sparred his life and once again he was given the option to fight for another army...Only this time his life wasn't hanging on his answer...Yet he still chose to fight. He wished to fully avenge his comrades and return his homeworld to the glory it had once represented in the Galaxy. And so he joined the Galactic Alliance and their band of misfit ex-Sith troopers known as the 5th Legion.

After his time with the Galactic Alliance he took his skills and became a freelance mercenary and bounty hunter.
