Private Jakku: Jedi Sentinel Path

Taking a flight path within his Jedi star-ship out of Tython where the New Jedi Order main base of operations are located. Kas is a Jedi Apprentice, independently learning, studying and training to become a Jedi Knight in particular a Jedi Sentinel. He came across the planet Jakku within Alliance territory apparently there is a Jedi Enclave so in wanting to continue his Jedi training. Kas decided to venture out to Jakku space and arrive on the planet surface.

Turns out the intel he studied from the Jedi Databases in the Archives led Kas to arrive in the Docking Bay of the Jakku Enclave set-up by past Jedi. This was something else. To reflect back that Kas heard and saw many young Jedi becoming Padawan Learners but not assigned a master or mentor figure yet. Stuck inside of the Temple and trying to engage with other members of the New Jedi Order. Not Kas he decided to undergo the Apprentice journey and be independent.

In the occasional venture or few, Kas allows and welcomes others to accompany him. Sometimes it'd be his siblings Caden and Seri. He hasn't shared his adventures and trips with many fellow Jedi yet but doesn't mind any of them joining him.

"Huh so this is Jakku. Wonder why the enclave here doesn't get used as much. Maybe it does from time-to-time. I wonder if there is anyone here. Or anything to help me learn more in becoming a Jedi Sentinel."

Once his star-ship made its arrival in the Hangar Bay of the Jakku Jedi Enclave Kas began to get familiar with the grounds and started to explore them but being cautious in his approach. Droids were left to monitor and maintain the ship as he went further around and inside of the Enclave.

He hadn’t returned to Jakku in several months.

The subterranean locale, in the midst of vast desert terrain, had ultimately been a waystation, a place of transition between his largely solitary life as a Jedi, and the responsibilities he now held as a member of a Jedi Council. He'd never considered that he might be called to serve in such a way, let alone so few years into his knighthood, but time proved that perhaps he was right where he was meant to be.

Not that it had much to do with why he was here now, at Jakku. While others had moved on and he remained amidst the sands almost a year past, Vizion had not spent the time idle. Those months were filled with purposeful contemplation, the lending of his skills to the search for a child now recently found, and his initial forays into the latest of the four forms of lightsaber combat that he practised, among other activities.

It was the last of these that brought him back to the underground enclave. His mentor, a fire-maned woman of vast Jedi knowledge and resident of the Enclave, welcomed the chance to view and test his progress in person, and make recommendations. After discussions all those months ago that she had offered to further his ongoing development in the Jedi role they both shared, and as a responsible Knight, most of this development continued via correspondence when he left the Enclave. Over two hundred years of anecdotes and expertise, though displaced by many centuries, peppering their correspondence with bits of history for context.

But Vizion planned to stay a little longer than such a visit required - the relative peace of the sands had made an impression, the last time he was here - and there was that vague something that burrowed into him since his arrival over a day prior. A nudge he was keenly attuned to notice; even if its purpose was not readily apparent, he knew to listen.

Watch.

And wait.

Soon enough there was a new arrival and he was easy to single out: his curiosity and cautious exploration was more than apparent to Vizion, marking the younger guy as unfamiliar with this location - a padawan? But you never know. Some people did get knighted rather young. It was rare, but not unheard of.

Vizion approached, raising a hand in greeting. Maybe this was what he was waiting for?

“Hey, there,” the hand dropped, “you’ve come at a quiet time,” many of the residents were training above-ground elsewhere today, or visiting satellite locations, or off on more distant missions, “what brings you to Jakku?”

Kas remained cautious as he was exploring the grounds of the Jedi Enclave established on Jakku. The Jedi Apprentice had left his siblings - younger brother and twin sister back on Tython. Venturing the Galaxy on his own for the first time. No lack of confidence but not being careless.

Turned his attention to Vizion Trozky as the Jedi Knight approached Kas. Greeting him too.

Something in the Force stirred around the two Jedi was it guiding them to embark on a task together or a completely different activity? Only one way to find out.

"Huh. Oh. I was seeking out Jedi training. Well. I am wanting to become a Jedi Sentinel."

Kas answered Vizion as he took a look around where the grounds of the Jedi Enclave was empty and quiet. A shame he thought there'd be more life here but with the New Jedi Order based on Tython.

The majority of the Jedi populace would be nearer Tython than Jakku.

"I'm Kas. Kas Larsen, Jedi Apprentice came in from Tython. You are?"

Vizion gave a slow nod to Kas’ purpose for being here. Jedi came here for different reasons, though the training programs set by the founder could be intense for those who primarily set this enclave as their center of learning. He couldn’t help but wonder if the seeking Kas connecting with him, a Sentinel, was coincidence or the often subtle hand of the Force in both their parts.

“Vizion Trozky, Jedi Knight,” he gave in kind, “currently based out of Naboo.” For how long, he couldn’t say, but there was enough keeping him firmly in place, there. “And a Sentinel, an Investigator by calling.”

He gave a firm smile. It was always something to be pulled along like this, though he didn’t lean too far into it. His relationship with the concepts of fate and destiny was… complicated. He held a bit of healthy skepticism.

“Is the Sentinel path a choice,” began the question, “or has something set you in that direction?”

It was rare that it was a pure choice. Many factors often lead a Jedi to the decision, from talents, to disposition, to training, to the recommendations of their trainers, and more. Vizion himself was solid in the belief that he couldn’t have been anything else, or at the least, that he could have been, but another path wouldn’t have been quite so suitable.

Kas' perked up as he heard Vizion state that he was a Jedi Knight - a Sentinel specifically and specialised in the Jedi Investigator field. A grin appeared on the young Jedi's face. Perhaps his trust in the Force proved once again his Jedi training would progress further.

The aspiring and driven Jedi Apprentice was determined to become a Jedi Knight, a Sentinel that'd work closely with law enforcement. It was an option that Kas wanted to honour his mother. She was a Sentinel and he has his mother's compassionate nature as well as his father's warrior spirit.

"My mother was a Sentinel, she retired and well, I want to honour her legacy. Master Trozky."

Kas answered Vizion's question about becoming a Jedi Sentinel. The teenaged Jedi was firm but had a soft tone within his voice. Must have gotten that from his mother but that can switch into sounding like his father.

"I used to be with the CorSec Corps back on Corellia before coming to the New Jedi Order. Manpower and other resources were limited. There are some activities the Jedi can do to help."

Ever since departing from his homeworld Corellia. Spent years studying and training in the CorSec Academy with his twin sister and brother to then work alongside his parents from time-to-time.

The path of a Jedi was challenging but adding the specialisation of a Sentinel would set an atmosphere around Kas to serve the Galaxy more. In his time on Corellia he believed there was a lot more he can do and when a Jedi Watchman took him and his siblings to Tython. Kas thought the calling from the Force was guiding him to do more in becoming a Jedi.

"Would you be willing to teach and train me in becoming a Sentinel, master?" Kas asked Vizion.

Vizion listened to Kas’ answer, which laid out a path and background different from his own, of being given the informed choice at eight years old to either become a Jedi, or pursue the path of Brentaalan politics and business as the second son.

It was clear which path he had chosen.

In his capacity as an investigator, the Knight often worked alongside law enforcement, and Republic Intelligence… what Kas spoke of was familiar ground to Vizion, but only from the outside, from the perspective of a Jedi. But his skills and training culminated in more, beyond interfacing with mundane authorities. It was those specialisations he was known for.

Vizion was already thinking, when the newcomer’s next question came. The hand dropped from where it was posed over his mouth, coming to rest beneath his chin, as his head turned.

“What I can teach you with the time I have here will depend on your current knowledge, abilities, and aptitudes,” he mused, finally dropping the hand to his side, where one of his two hilts was attached, “just a few questions, before we can get started.”

Vizion hadn’t mentored anyone before, per se, but he had a good breadth of memory of his own master’s manner of instruction, the observation of his other mentors, and his own ideas. More often he found himself in the strange position of providing careful guidance to his peers, where warranted, on matters that weren't exactly Jedi-related.

“So, what sort of foundation in the Jedi Arts have you been given so far, Kas? Do you have any particular strengths?”

Kas listened and watch Vizion speak his thoughts went to think upon what he has learned and practiced thus far. He recalled when recovering in the Medical Bay that Padawan Learner Valoria Elryne taught him how to use Force Concealment. Mask and scatter his presence in the Force.

He believed throughout his training that was a very useful ability to actively use as a Jedi Sentinel out upon the field. Among other abilities and skills he picked up throughout his time.

"Well. During my time recovering in the Medical Bay. I spent time learning how to use Concealment. Mask, scatter my Force Signature from others making it harder for my presence to be detected master." He took a few more moments to prepare further details about his Jedi training.

"I've learned the basics of the 6 traditional Lightsaber combat forms excluding the seventh form. Restricted and off limits for students to dive into. Even studied and practiced the Skywalker Praxuem combat styles that past era Jedi Master Kyle Katarn founded, the Fast, Medium and Strong styles. I seem to have a knack in being ambidextrous that led to me practicing Jar'Kai." He said.

That was some of his combatant abilities and skills mentioned to Vizion. He reflected upon what else can be shared with the Jedi Knight that posed his questioning upon Kas. Able to provide more information after thinking. Kas spoke up once again to Vizion.

"I have been working on hybrid styles in Soresu and Shien. The same application enrolled with Ataru and Djem So. I've been advancing further in those forms alongside Niman and Jar'Kai master. I've been learning and practicing two Martial Art forms - Bakuuni Hand and Broken Gate but going to look into Echani and Teräs Käsi later down the line." Kas mentioning some more info.

Now that was a good portion about his bladed and melee combat statistics for now. Time to reflect and share his abilities in the Force. Sentinels do possess unique skills too.

"With the Force master. I have dove into using Empathy, Meld, Precognition, Sense and Track. Not perfected them of course. Still have a ways to go. Capable of forming a Barrier, blind others to distract them, some Telekinesis and applications of Burst. Due to my Epicanthix genes inherited from my father's side while inheriting my mother's Keshian sight. I'm resistant to mind tricks, etc. I have used Mind Trick to defuse threats - calm situations before they escalate master."

This revealed that Kas wasn't a slouch and was advancing through Jedi training that he was able to access, learn and thoroughly practice. His determination was something. A dedicated young man quiet perhaps among others but that's where and when some can be surprised at his progress.

"Other abilities in the Force I have came across are: Altus sopor, Art of Movement, Curato salva, Enhanced Attribute and Resist Stun. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't a skilled Jedi Ace. Spent time in the Jedi Starfighter Corps to learn and train as a dogfighter of a pilot too."

A smile appeared on Kas' face as flying was something he thoroughly loved. Merging it with his interest held fighting - all in good intentions of course. Kas has an interest towards technology - wanting to build, create and repair all kinds of devices and equipment. Ranging from gadgets, tools and weapons. Possibly he is on the route of a Jedi Artisan.

"Oh I like to mess around with tech from time-to-time. Helped build my brother's and sister's Lightsaber hilts as well as designing and building my own two. Heard that could be the making of a Jedi Artisan? Might consider becoming one and an Investigator too master." Kas finished up.

Kas waited to hear and see how Vizion would react to all the intel he had given to him. Probably a lot at first but then perhaps a lot of Jedi had different levels and tiers of their progress - regarding any experiences, knowledge and skills from Jedi training.
