Jaeger Class ‘Fast’ Star Destroyer

Intent: To create a ‘ship of the line’ for Omega Pyre which fits their unique situation and needs well. This is a ship designed for the sort of wars OP fights; against raiders and hostile worlds rather than other capital ships. It is fully intended that there will be relatively few of these as they are not used as often as in other factions. This is basically intended to be an ‘invasion in a box’, able to go to a troubled area carrying all the troops, craft and weapons needed for the initial operation at least.
Manufacturer: Fondor Drive Yards on order of Omega Pyre
Model: Star Destroyer
Affiliation: Omega Pyre
Modularity: None
Production: Limited.
Material: Durasteel
Description: The Jaeger was designed with the specialist needs of Omega Pyre in mind. On the one hand they needed a ship with the capacity to deploy an entire landing force into a warzone, but on the other it needed to be able to fight against other capital ships. However, enemy Star Destroyers and cruisers were simply not a threat in the region of the galaxy the Jaeger was designed for.
Thus, the Jaeger features only ten of the heaviest turbolasers and twenty medium ones (compared with 30 of each on a comparable Republic vessel), but has fifty light and quick firing weapons. To increase speed both of hyperspace and sublights, the ship also has weaker shields and armour than the comparable Republic or Sith ship. This ship is therefore designed to carry everything the Omega force needs in an invasion, to fight off anything smaller than a Star Destroyer, and be virtually impervious to attack craft.

I'm still fairly new to this whole judge thing. I looked at other ships that have been approved and this, and looked over the rules and nothing seems out of place, but I'm not comfortable saying its good until another Judge shows up. I'll try to poke someone and speed along the process.

As you say, it's likely to be outclassed as a Capital Ship by other vessels of it's size, and wouldn't be able to stand up to a true Star Destroyer of our era, but with respects to it's anti-fighter abilities, it would no doubt be truly superb. I can very easily see such a vessel as playing a skirmisher role, tracking and taking down fighters and small support ships (blastboats and the like) easily enough. I'm not sure I can see such a vessel having so small a crew, though - the typical crew requirements for a ship that size (to include gunners, engineers, officers, fighter pilots etc) wouldn't be smaller than 8,000. Your typical Dreadnought (far smaller than this ship) required a complement of about 16,000, while your ImpStar Deuce would require 37,500. 750 - 4750 seems a little small for a Capital Ship.

The crew, like all ship things, varies alarmingly depending on sources. The traditional ISD had a larger crew, it's true. However, the later Legacy ships had crews only slightly larger, and sometimes smaller.

My thoughts are that because this ship has less of the big guns it'd need a smaller crew than a ship with more heavy guns.

I also modelled this quite closely off the Sith and Republic vessels already approved and modified the crew numbers accordingly.

I can up them by 1 or 2000 if required, but some of these precise details are rather nebulous in the extreme.

What is a 'Light Turbolaser'? I've heard of quad cannons or point defense cannons. But never a 'Light Turbolaser'. :D

Turbolasers do not generate a high enough rate of fire for Starfighters. Can you pick a more specific weapon? For both ships. Thanks. :D
