ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Long-range scanners

Long-range comms
HIMS

Strengths:
  • Maneuverable: designed for experienced Force sensitive pilots capable of instinctive astrogation, the ship sacrifices defenses and life-support for high speeds and maneuverability
  • HIMS: Designed to penetrate allegedly impenetrable space, the ships have hand-built systems to maintain hyperspeed through interdiction fields
  • Focused Arsenal- The weapon system is designed around targeting large, well defended targets
Weaknesses:
  • No life-support: In order to most effectively use the power, there is no in-built life-support system, necessitating self-sustaining sealed flight-suits.
  • Two-person crew: the craft requires a team of two to operate effectively (1 pilot and 1 gunner)
  • Cannot operate independently: While capable of long range missions, the Iv'Irus requires a headquartered carrier or pocket carrier for fuel, rearmament, and to maintain the incredibly sophisticated systems.
  • Lightly Defended: Sacrificing defense for greater speed and maneuverability, the Iv'Ivrus lacks a shield of any sort.
  • Short-term engagements: Fighters are not equipped or designed for protracted engagements, making them disadvantageous for getting caught up in actual dogfights.
  • Divert power: To operate the HIMS, power must be diverted away from weapons and shields in order for it to function.
Description:
Seeing the First Order and Sith Empire use interdiction as both a strategic and tactical weapon on economic and tactical levels, Roth began thinking of ways to maintain the Alliance's fighter superiority status and their larger pool of Jedi pilots. With that in mind, he reached out to his family, including his cousin Aeshi, who suggested using HIMS, which she had used to solid effect in previous incidents. However, once deactivated, it has issues. It was the starting point for Roth and he began researching.
He, working with SoroSuub R&D engineers, was able to connect these technologies on a frame, but it took significant amounts of time to effectively integrate the systems. Working out a way to switch power from one to the power was the primary challenge, but once that was resolved, Roth sifted through the available armament and connected them, with a simple pair of linked laser cannons for fighter defense, but the rest of the weaponry focused on crippling high-value targets in a blistering fast hit-and-run strikes, with the four ships emptying their arsenal into a concentrated area of a target, and then escaping.

However, as the Great Galactic War ground on, Alliance resources were spread thinner and thinner, with research priorities continually shifting. As a result, the first eight prototypes were never finished until the very end of the war, preventing any chance of them being used as effectively as Roth had hoped.

[member="Roth Tillian"], overall this is about two ratings too high. As always, you can balance this out by reducing ratings, lowering production or adding significant weaknesses. But there are some things that I'm going to mention that will affect that.

"Limited" production is restricted to small groups (example: a small task force), and it explicitly states that entire factions can't be listed. There are any number of ways for you to narrow the affiliation to something that would work. However, if you only intend for 8 of these ships to exist, I might suggest moving production up to "Semi-unique", as that will give you another rating to work with.

HIMS devices are described as "capital ship" scale devices, requiring multiple hyperspatial coils to function. In other words, these are large devices. I think that at the limited production level, this is a significant advantage that should warrant the addition of a significant weakness or the reducing of a rating. I can see this existing at the semi-unique production level with a minor weaknesses added.

What is the purpose of the GAM in this sub? Does "revert back to hyperspace" mean that they can jump back into hyperspace after entering realspace?

Whoops! Did not see that anywhere, so yeah, I went ahead and dropped it to semi-unique, while making it clear that there are only eight ships built. They’re for the GA Endgame event, after which I will be returning to my permanent LOA and they will be mothballed in a forgotten Tillian warehouse.

I also added the limitation and weapons and GAM can’t function at the same time. Would that be a weakness you would consider appropriate? Also, is the listed weapons appropriate for the rating? I tried to guess, but wasn’t entirely sure, so I’d be glad to drop that.

And the reason for the GAM would be so that the ships could enter a hyperspace restricted area with the HIMS, launch their torpedoes, and then use the GAM to return to hyperspace even in the presence of a gravity interdiction field.

We're about one rating too high still, not including the addition of the HIMs.

This is probably going to be a no-go in terms of concept. From a gameplay balance perspective, we're not currently letting anything completely beat or ignore interdictor technology (though penetrating interdictor fields is okay). From a canon lore perspective, we do not see GAMs being used this way (they're actually a version of an interdictor's gravity well projector).

As a suggestion, what you could do is give this a SLAM drive, which could allow this ship to quickly obtain a fast sublight speed to get out of the area affected by an interdictor before jumping back into hyperspace.

Okay! Scrapped the GAM, didn't add a SLAM, and dropped the armament rating down an additional level. Also changed the aspect of the divert power weakness away from the GAM. How does that look?

I think this should be a team of "two" rather than three.

In terms of basic ratings, we're balanced. However, this doesn't include the HIMS being included. To keep it, we need to either lower a rating or add a significant weakness that can be practically exploited by an opponent.

Thanks for catching that! Made that edit.

Also dropped the defense rating and scrapped the shield.

Balancing looks solid.

If you'll please remove the references to it being able to jump into hyperspace while in interdiction fields here, we'll be all set.
