Itzhal Volkihar
Character
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Itzhal Volkihar, carries himself with the stoic bearing of a man shaped by decades of hardship. His Morellian blood grants him a youthful appearance for his age, with the rugged features of someone in their prime—square jawline, high cheekbones, and faint crow's feet at the corner of his sharp, piercing blue eyes. His skin is pale white, hidden beneath the consistent veil of his armour, with a patchwork of faded scars across his body, including a chip across the edge of his jaw, frequently concealed by a thin layer of trimmed facial hair.
His hair, once dark as the colour of his armour, now carries streaks of silver, cut short for practicality but left slightly longer on top. A thick but neatly-trimmed beard frames his face, peppered with grey, adding to the worn but stalwart presence he exudes. His deep-set eyes, a striking shade of steel blue, hold the weight of centuries of loss and determination; their intensity is only amplified when he fixes his gaze on a target.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Raised an honest man by his mother and father, Itzhal considers his integrity a matter of pride. When Itzhal sets his mind on a task, he will waste no time in accomplishing it, no matter the personal cost to him and his allies on the job; he has little patience or care for those who fail to live up to similar standards. He would even rather work alone, knowing he was outnumbered, than find himself saddled with dishonest, incompetent or even just lazy individuals.
However, Itzhal understands that logically, he is incapable of accomplishing everything by himself; though self-sufficiency is a constant goal to work towards, those he considers proper allies are well-trusted and are treated with respect and loyalty. Such a relationship is not easily earned, and Itzhal rarely connects with an individual quickly. This often leads to a small circle of friends and trusted allies, all of which are maintained through years of effort while leaving little space for those who have not yet proven themselves. Even when considered part of this group, Itzhal is unlikely to state so clearly, preferring to show his care through actions rather than words. This attitude also extends to dealing with others since Itzhal is unlikely to speak more than necessary when an action serves sufficiently.
Upholding the rules he follows when placed in a position of power, Itzhal can be remorseless to rule breakers. He is perfectly content, however, to give leeway as a result of often working with professionals who know how to accomplish their tasks better than himself. Those under his command are seen as a responsibility, which he takes pride in, celebrating their successes and sharing the burdens of their failures, to an extent.
When reporting to a superior or client, Itzhal considers honesty a necessity for his line of business, even when such a response may paint his work negatively. As a result, his reports rarely consider more emotional responses, leaving him to appear rather uncaring to such individuals who are more sensitive than himself.
STRENGTHS
Combat Proficiency: Decades of training and battlefield experience have made Itzhal a highly skilled marksman and close-combat fighter, proficient with blasters, melee weapons, and guerrilla tactics.
Resilient Physiology: As a Morellian, his long lifespan grants enhanced physical endurance, healing, and vitality compared to humans of a similar appearance.
Tactical Mind: Years as a lawman and soldier have honed his ability to analyze situations, strategize, and execute plans effectively under pressure.
Stalwart Morality: A commitment to integrity makes him a reliable ally. His adherence to honesty and accountability earns the respect of those he works with.
Survivor's Grit: Having endured countless losses, including his family and comrades, Itzhal has developed remarkable mental fortitude and an indomitable will to keep moving forward.
Loyal Ally: Though slow to trust, once his loyalty is earned, Itzhal is fiercely protective of his allies and willing to make sacrifices for their safety.
Adaptability: Decades of shifting roles—from sheriff to soldier to bounty hunter—have given him the skills to adjust to various situations and overcome challenges.
WEAKNESSES
Isolationist Tendencies: Slow to form new bonds, Itzhal often works alone, which can leave him vulnerable when teamwork is essential.
Stubbornness: His adherence to his moral code and traditions can lead to inflexibility, especially in rapidly changing or morally ambiguous situations that go beyond the pale.
Emotionally Reserved: Preferring action over words, Itzhal struggles to express emotions, which can alienate potential allies or create misunderstandings.
Past Trauma: The loss of his family and comrades weighs heavily on him, occasionally clouding his judgment with anger or guilt. Especially against those who remind him of the events.
Relentless Drive: His determination to see tasks through at all costs can lead to reckless behavior, risking both his safety and the welfare of his allies.
Outdated Worldview: As someone who has been out of the galaxy for centuries, he often struggles to adapt to modern cultures and societal changes, which can be all the more confusing for what has remained the same.
Limited Diplomacy Skills: Itzhal's blunt honesty and preference for action over discussion can make him poorly suited to negotiations or delicate political scenarios, where subtlety is key.
HISTORY
Itzhal Kallor (later Volkihar due to clan adoption) was born in 820BBY and considered the planet of Gargon his homeworld despite being born in hyperspace, a few days away from their eventual destination. Itzhal's father, Veir Kallor, served as a sheriff of the Ridgestryder Guardians, a local law enforcement agency that answered directly to the Republic Governor of Gargon. His mother, Ciala Kallor, was a former smuggler turned security consultant for the settlers in their local village of Tellmont Peak.
Following in his father's footsteps, Itzhal joined the Ridgestryder Guardians, much to his parent's amusement. With skills learned from both sides of his family, the young Morellian quickly garnered a reputation for himself as a capable and determined member of local law enforcement. Unfortunately, his jobs weren't always close to home and during a routine patrol of the local county area, the village of Tellmont Peak was assaulted by off-world pirates, and his mother was killed.
Both father and son continued despite this hardship as life in the village progressed, regardless of the sudden void in their lives. Over the next thirty years, Itzhal continued to watch over the village. However, further tragedy struck when his father, Veir Kallor, was killed in a bar fight, later revealed to be an intentional assassination that led to Itzhal discovering a conspiracy of corruption that expanded beyond the reaches of his village, connecting high-ranked members of Gargon to piracy attacks and illegal trades.
In his search for justice, Itzhal Kallor stumbled across a squad of Mandalorians hunting down pirates involved in the very same conspiracy he was investigating. Together, they uncovered more and more suspects, including the official behind his father's murder. It was here that Itzhal took justice into his own hands.
Eventually, with much of Gargon's government gutted and a warrant out for his actions. Itzhal decided to abandon his homeworld and left with the Mandalorians. Joining the Mandalorian clan known as Clan Volkihar, the ex-peacekeeper spent the next decade of his life honing his skill as a mercenary and later as a soldier in the expanding Mandalorian empire.
With a reputation built over years of effort and determination, Itzhal was recruited into the Manda'lor's personal forces. Serving as a troubleshooter and field agent for his liege, he faithfully performed his role until the age of eighty-two. Off-world, when Republic forces arrived in the Mandalore sector, Itzhal was on the battleship Vindicator when the fighting began. Over the next few hours, he and his allies repelled enemy boarding parties until Mandalorian forces were forced to retreat from what would later be known as the Mandalorian Cataclysm.
Surviving the Mandalorian Cataclysm initiated by Republic forces, Itzhal and his people formed a raiding force and engaged in guerrilla warfare against the Republic for the next two decades. The vengeful warband won several victories against Republic forces, including a Jedi Task Force, until eventually they were captured. Itzhal becomes the sole survivor of his group. Displayed as a showpiece for a Republic governor of the Mandalore system, Itzhal is sealed into a stasis chamber and gradually forgotten over the centuries.
Fighting across the planet damages the stasis chamber's power generator, leading to Itzhal's eventual release as the machine breaks down over the following years. He leaves the chamber around nine hundred years after the battle of Yavin.
Since then, Itzhal has slowly been garnering supplies and credits over the past few months to prepare himself and take a step back into the wider Galaxy.
