The Woman
Have you ever seen a woman who seems to have driven her life on the pure energy of contempt?
Ishale's never been one to let anybody tell her she can't or has to do anything. It didn't matter if it was her parents, friends, or even the instructors in basic training. Some would call it being hard-headed but she prefers to use the term 'self-motivated and driven'. And for anybody who would claim that its that sort of attitude which stops somebody from getting far in life, she'll happily point them to her medical school doctorate and her increasingly decorated military career - not that she'll actually care if they're convinced by it.
In friendship you sit in one of two camps with Ishale. You are her friend, or you aren't. There is no middle-ground.
She'll happily drink with anybody at least once if they're willing to split the tab, she's loud and boisterous at parties, and she'll happily take center stage at a party but where actual friendships are concerned she keeps the list short. Much of how she behaves comes from a rather in-depth understanding of just how fragile her own mortality is and thus she desires to live life to the absolute fullest before somebody finally fires the blaster bolt meant for her. Those on the short-list will know it without her every saying it in as many words: she's loyal almost to a fault and won't hesitate to go throwing herself into harm's way if it means bringing a friend out of the firing line.
Physically she also works to cut quite the intimidating figure. Its as much a desire for peak physical fitness as it is a demand of her occupation that she be in excellent shape: your typical soldier in full armor isn't light to carry, and that's before you consider you might be wounded and under fire. The gym is one of her favorite places to spend her time when she's off-duty from daily tasks and chores and she often encourages her squad-mates to go more often as well. In fact in at least a few postings where things were less established she went through the effort of helping set up a small exercise facility.
She's also a lover of both ink and piercings - though she is seldom seen with the latter given her profession and typical environment. It honestly started as a secretive act of rebellion against controlling parents. And from there it sort of spiraled out of control. The woman has ink on almost every part of her body and whenever she's away on leave it seems like she's trying to come up with an excuse to visit the nearest tattoo parlor. It also fits with her 'street' attire: typically flat-tops or boots, faded trousers, and dark clothing. Her go-to accessories are typically a chronometer and sunglasses.
The Story
Born on Kattada to an upper-class family, Ishale was an only-child with all sorts of potential in life.
Her father, Bendak Rokahn, worked as an independent and accomplished architect planning and laying out the designs for some of the most distinctive sky-lines on the planet. Her mother, Sarisa Rokahn, was an incredibly successful and talented surgeon who worked primarily in one of the largest hospitals in the city of Haleo. If she was ever pressed to talk candidly about her childhood then Ishale would have to admit she was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth: a life of chauffeurs, house staff, private schooling, and other luxuries all meant to prime her for whatever plans her parents might have for her. She was academically sharp and graduated at sixteen from the "Young Ladies' School for the Gifted of Kattada".
However not all things were perfect in paradise. Her performance record through school was marred with reports of her hopping the fence to the School for Young Gentlemen or being caught after-hours in the campus park smoking. She was noted to associate with "miscreants" which was the white-collar way of saying middle and lower-class boys and girls who didn't get the best grades. While the 'bad boys' she kept company with would be nothing compared to actual criminals her parents couldn't stomach the thought of their precious doll being sullied by such company and they endeavored to put her back onto their planned course for her.
At their insistence she sought enrollment at Haleoda University to pursue medical sciences. She was specifically 'encouraged' to pursue general surgery with a secondary study in general medicine. However she was still seemingly set on giving her parents gray hairs and heart palpitations by trying to enjoy life and not just fill out her parents' desires for her life. The fact that she started to date a young Zabrak boy named Drosun Harpa: the front-man for a campus garage-band and an academically average student with rumors of being involved in minor drug sales on-campus. The only solace they found was that she still seemed to be willing to stick to her courses and work to keep her grades up.
In fact they were surprised when she presented them her Master's thesis: "Prevalence of Antibiotic Resistance in the Human Population". Really an interesting piece that was well-reviewed by her peers and teachers. But what really threw her parents and boyfriend for a loop was that she wasn't going to go join her mother's medical practice as the hospital. In fact she wasn't even going to pursue medicine how they had hoped. Instead the three of them received word of her plans when she wrote to them all for the first time from her barracks in basic training. It was the same letter her parents got the copy of her thesis from as if she wanted to add insult to injury in telling them off.
Her performance through basic training was something exemplary all the way up to her advanced training in the required medical courses. She blew those out of the water: coming into courses meant to teach those with little experience about medicine with the qualifications necessary to be a surgeon. It was all good enough that when a rather secretive unit offered her a chance to prove herself in their selection process she jumped at the chance. Since then she's had her service jacket soaked in black ink and been put on "permanent forward deployment" until further notice.
