The Ironmaw-class Star Destroyer was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, troop transport, and ship-to-ship combat. It was designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, serving the role of an Interdiction Star Destroyer. At 1,600 metres in length, the Ironmaw was one of the largest mass-produced warships in the Iron Imperial fleet.
Expected to be deployed across a variety of combat scenarios, the Ironwolf-class Star Destroyer was outfitted with a diverse range of offensive weaponry. Primarily intended for ship-to-ship combat, the Ironwolf featured: 10 Heavy Long Range Turbolaser Batteries, 30 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 60 Turbolaser Batteries, 20 Heavy Ion Batteries, 40 Ion Batteries, and 5 Hyper Velocity Guns. These weapons allowed the Star Destroyer to engage enemy vessels at any range. However, it was at its most effective in close-to-mid range combat.
To protect the vessel, the Ironmaw-class Star Destroyer was equipped with both a primary deflector shield, and redundant deflector shield. While the primary shield generators sat nestled within the Ironmaw itself, the redundant shield generators stood atop its bridge tower.
The Ironmaw-class Star Destroyer's most distinctive feature, however, was it's 4 Gravity Well Projectors. These allowed the Ironmaw to stop enemy vessels from entering hyperspace, or pull them from it. However, the power drain of the Gravity Well Projectors, effectively halved the operation weapons of the Ironmaw.
This combination of offensive weaponry, defensive equipment, and Gravity Well Projectors, left the Ironmaw-class Star Destroyer with limited space to transport starfighters. As such, it could house only two squadrons, for a total of 24 craft. So as not to be easy prey for enemy starfighters, the Ironmaw was outfitted with numerous anti-starfighter weaponry, including: 40 Point Defense Cannons, 40 Anti-missile Octets, 40 Quad Laser Cannons, and 40 Flak Cannons.
