  • Image Credit: Fandom Article on the Death Korps of Krieg
  • Role: This unit is deployed onto void vessels operated by the Iron Legion's organization, as well as operated by the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation as a whole. Aboard them, they work as guards for the passages, and would be the first to fight raiders who try to board the vessel. GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Iron Legion Marines
  • Affiliation:
  • Classification: Infantry, though specifically for usage as guard details aboard void-faring vessels or acting as the first troops to land on a planet's surface in an invasion the Iron Legion is a part of.
  • Description: Marines of the Iron Legion are dressed similarly to other counterparts in the rest of the Legion. How the Marines differentiate themselves from the rest of the army, is primarily through their uniform and tactics. Their uniform is darker in color than the standard Trooper of the Iron Legion. Additionally, their masks have an armored plate in the shape of a skull made out of dark-colored Duroplast. Their coats are more of a dark/navy blue, and their helmets are typically a matte form of jet-black. Almost every aspect of their individual person is covered by the uniform's pieces, as designed when the Iron Legion was first made on Lotho Minor. Their tactics differentiate them as well, as they are trained to protect ships utilized by both the Iron Legion and the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation. In more recent times, their training has gained the ability to also function as troops sent to landing zones established during invasions the Iron Legion is taking part in. Outside of that, they're behavior is very consistent for that of the Iron Legion's soldiers due to no deviations being made in the training related to behavior and mentality.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Large - While there are not many Iron Legion Marines, due to their role in the Iron Legion as a whole, they are still rank and file infantry for the most part. The one exception would be if any Commanding Officers would be present among them. However, while they do not have as many troops per unit compared to that of the standard troopers, their rank and file nature does mean there are still many of them protecting the naval vessels utilized by both the Iron Legion and the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation.
  • Unit Availability: Common - Marines of the DuProcelen Iron Legion are the second-most commonly trained soldiers in the army due to the necessity of both the Legion itself and the corporation that operates it have in ensuring void-faring vessel security.
  • Unit Experience: Trained - Despite not being as numerous as the standard Trooper in the Iron Legion, Marines are drilled in very similar manner in terms of establishing a grim calm under extremely intense situations and fighting with extreme discipline. The difference comes in the fact that they are trained for fighting as security for naval vessels and functioning as initial landing parties.
  • Equipment:
  • Combat Function: Marines of the Iron Legion are trained to function akin to that of Troopers, but for protecting space-faring vessels utilized by the Iron Legion and the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation and recently have served as initial landing parties for invasions the Iron Legion would be taking part in. Much time as a Marine is spent as acting as security for a naval vessel, where duties involve ensuring order among crew, defense against potential boarding parties, and would also serve as members of offensive boarding parties if necessary. Meanwhile, there may also come times when a Marine is given the duty to land on a hostile planetary body or space station and create an area for other soldiers in the Iron Legion to land safely during times of invasion. They work as standard rank and file soldiers for the most part, relying on their numbers and extreme discipline to win battles. A typical facet of Iron Legion soldiers across all forms would be a grim determination that keeps a soldier in action despite given circumstances, and an extreme stoicism that surpasses most rationality.
  • Force Abilities: N/A
Strengths:
  • Cool Under Fire: The training of the Iron Legion's Marines has produced soldiers who are among the least prone to exhibiting fear on the battlefield of any army in the galaxy.
  • Strength in Numbers: As being a common unit among the Iron Legion's ranks, Marines are the second most numerous. Their tactics then reflect such.
  • Highly Disciplined: Even if a Marine's situation has him or her in a state of some level of fear, the training drilled into every Marine of the Iron Legion has them be too disciplined to break.
  • Sealed from Environment: The uniform and armor of the Marines grants the Marines safety from the inhospitable environments the Iron Legion is expected to fight in.
  • Intimidating Design: The armor of the Iron Legion's Marines makes all of them look uniform, nearly identical to each other outside of slight body proportion differences, alongside their faces being covered by the visage created by their environmental protection masks. Such an image can prove intimidating to an enemy force, civilians, and potentially allies.
Weaknesses:
  • Grim: While the training of Iron Legion Marines makes them highly disciplined and not as prone to shell-shock compared to other types of soldiers, their grim stoicism is often unsettling for any other people they may encounter from outside the Iron Legion's ranks.
    • Makes joint operations with other types of soldiers somewhat difficult as the other soldiers may have their morale lowered with the presence of the Iron Legion.
    • Civilian relations are not likely to be good when in combat zones with population centers nearby.
  • Intensive Training Drawbacks: The training the Iron Legion's Marines go through in order to be battlefield ready take somewhat long periods of time. While it is certain numbers will be replenished from battles, the recuperation will be a slow process.
  • Equipment Drawbacks: The armor worn by the Iron Legion's Marines is made from salvaged materials among properly forged materials, making the uniforms offer inconsistent protection from Marine to Marine.
    • In addition, the weapons the Marines of the Iron Legion use are from the Eternal Empire's design which makes recuperating stock of, as well as maintaining, the weaponry of the Iron Legion a tedious affair.
  • Recognizable: Soldiers of the Iron Legion, while their uniforms are likely to intimidate others on the battlefield, are highly recognizable to an enemy which can leave the Troopers prone to targeted attacks with how well they stick out compared to other soldiers.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The second oldest form of soldiery in the DuPorcelen Iron Legion would be its Marines. Shortly after the Iron Legion was established during the times after the fall of the Eternal Empire of Kalidan, the necessity for ship security was paramount due to the lack of order. Pirates, raiders, and desperate survivor factions among the Eternal Imperial Remnants rendered cargo shipments vulnerable to and from Lotho Minor. As a result, soldiers conscripted into the ranks of the Iron Legion from Lotho Minor itself, or incorporated from Marines serving as part of the Eternal Empire's garrison as part of Battlegroup Scourge, were trained into what would then be known as the Iron Legion Marines.

These soldiers of the Iron Legion are tasked with defending naval vessels of both the Iron Legion and the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation. Additionally, in more recent times, the Marines of the Iron Legion have also been utilized as initial landing troops for planetary invasions carried out by the Iron Legion under the Empire of the Lost. One can recognize an Iron Legion Marine due to the darker, more blue colored, uniforms they wear, alongside their black helmets, and black masks, and respective regalia of recognition. Much like their counterparts in other portions of the Iron Legion, the Marines are designed to be intimidating and disciplined as soldiers. While their grim demeanor may be offputting to those not of their ranks, much can be said for the accomplishments of the Iron Legion's Marines in their great success in securing the interest of their deployers.
