OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Army Name: DuPorcelen Iron Legion, or Iron Legion for short
  • Classification: Corporately Operated, Empire Affiliated
  • Affiliation: Empire of the Lost (faction) Katherin DuPorcelen (character) Lotho Minor/Desevro (planets)
  • Army Symbol: Featured Above
  • Description: The DuPorcelen Iron Legion was formed from the remnants of the Eternal Empire's garrison on Lotho Minor, and then bolstered with conscripted refugees from other worlds formerly under the Eternal Empire's grasp and more native dwellers of Lotho Minor. The army began originally as a security force for both the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation's assets and former Imperial infrastructure on the planet, but now has evolved to becoming the living show of the White Baroness' authority. It is truly a professional fighting force. It is composed of recruits, both voluntary and forced, are subject to training that gives them the same discipline standards of the once great Eternal Empire but also gives them the hardiness needed to fight on worlds as deadly and desolate as that of Lotho Minor (the world where the Iron Legion was born).
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Due to being operated directly by the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation, the corporations's headquarters on Lotho Minor functions as the headquarters for this army as of this post.
  • Goals: To preserve order and stability on Lotho Minor, to safeguard DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation assets, and to serve the White Baroness of Lotho Minor. In more macro-scale terms, the other goal for the way the Iron Legion carries out its tasks is to show those who witness it that the spirit of the Eternal Empire is not dead.
  • Reputation: Out of all the remnants of the Eternal Empire, the Iron Legion has become rather infamous. Due to Katherin DuPorcelen's efforts in tying her corporation with the Empire of the Lost based on Lianna (as of this post), the Iron Legion has been seen serving the new rising Empire in the name of the White Baroness just as it has done in securing her rule over Lotho Minor. Due to this, the fame, or infamy, of the Iron Legion has transcended that of the other remnants of the Eternal Empire's military with people across the galaxy being witness to their existence and deeds. On Lotho Minor, they are regarded with much fear and respect depending on one's station in society. Under the recently gained independence through neglect, the Iron Legion has conducted various deeds across the city on Lotho Minor to secure order that make them known as an arm of tyranny. Those who persist in living the lives of outlaws, gangsters, and free-scavengers on the junkyard world, such a title of "arm of tyranny" fits the reputation. Meanwhile, those who have assimilated with the order under the Eternal remnant regime on Lotho Minor see them as well trained and disciplined soldiers perfectly capable of keeping peace and order on Lotho Minor. Those who see them for the first time will hardly forget them nonetheless. Their distinct uniforms, and overall menacing presence, reflects what their purpose is. They are an army designed to purge criminal elements from the toughest of worlds, and-or tame worlds with the most wild of environments. They are designed to intimidate those who do no wrong to keep them in the life of order, while being a living nightmare to criminals and agents of disorder wherever they are called.
COMPOSITION INFORMATION
  • Army Size: Large - While still only comprising of recruits (both volunteer and conscripted) from Lotho Minor and refugees from former Eternal Empire worlds, the size of the army is rather large for a planetary force. This army has also begun to have those who work on the White Baroness' fleet to become classified as part of the army as well, which further bolsters its numbers and size. With efforts made for DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation expanding into the systems ruled by the Empire of the Lost, is very likely the numbers of this army will continue to grow as time goes on and the company maintains its authority on Lotho Minor and any other worlds it manages to find authority over in its existence. In present time (as of this post), the world of Desevro has been added to a source of recruits from the Empire of the Lost's space.
  • Composition:
    • Iron Legion Troopers: The most common, and basic, form of soldier present in the Iron Legion. They are only armed with rifles and pistol sidearms. They possess supply packs as a means to carry all they need to survive in the harsh environments the Iron Legion is expected to fight in. While basic in terms of not being decorated, their uniforms are designed to be just as intimidating as the other units that make up the Iron Legion. They are the most commonly seen due to the Troopers making up the bulk of the army's members, thus are meant to fulfill all the roles of intimidation while performing the more common duties for the Iron Legion. They are typically seen as security patrols and main infantry lines.
    • Iron Legion Marines: Marines are somewhat elite forms of fighters present with Iron Legion. They are distinguished by different uniforms from that of the Troopers, and are meant to be security details for ships at the disposal of the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation. For more military usage, they also are used as drop-troops that will be sent down from orbit to clear areas for the rest of the Iron Legion to land on the world the given operation is taking place on.
    • Iron Legion Ultranauts: The Ultranaut was a staple unit within the special operations of the Eternal Empire. They were hulking beings that were zealously loyal to the Empire to a cultish degree while being trained so rigorously they could stand against many different foes. Upon the independence through neglect after the collapse of the Eternal Empire, many Ultranauts remained on Lotho Minor as part of the garrison, but were soon outfitted to be part of the Iron Legion as the most elite, hardy, and dogmatically loyal and disciplined soldiers in the entire Iron Legion. The Ultranauts function as their own branch within the Iron Legion, meaning they will have their own structure of Officers to esnure maximum efficiency when on the battlefield with a clear disignation of who is in charge within their ranks. Said ranks follow the same structure as the more common branch of soldiers, but the authority is specific for regiments of Ultranauts in terms of command.
      • Usage of the Eternal Empire Ultranaut Unit. Most change is in cosmetics, but also affiliation.
    • Iron Legion Engineers: All armies require technology to be running as smoothly as possible and personelle able to ensure such. The job of the Engineers in the Iron Legion are to operate any mechanized aspects of a battle. Tanks, artillery, ships, and repair details are all composed of the Iron Legion Engineers. They are recognizable due to different body armor, as well as a unqiue design on the helmet compared to other soldiers in the Iron Legion's ranks. While still numerous, they are more elite compared to other forms of soldiers as it takes less men to operate mechanized aspects of war compared to boots on the ground. The Engineers operate as a branch within the Iron Legion, meaning they have their own structure of Officers designated towards coordinating efforts with the Engineers so that there is a clear structure of command when on the battlefield. While following the same structure as the other branches of the Iron Legion, Engineer Officers may be of the same rank as other Officers in different branches, but only have commanding authority in among the Engineers.
    • Iron Legion Rangers: Iron Legion Rangers are tasked with the duties typically assigned to Scouts in other armies. They are a mounted force meant to cover much ground quickly, as well as operate independently of the rest of a given contingent of the Iron Legion. They are deployed on planets as part of the of the soldiers, yet will ride ahead of the main army in order to give command accurate and up-to-date reports on what lies ahead of the army, what paths of transit will be optimal, and what potential threats the army may face ahead of the current given position. On Lotho Minor, they are often seen patrolling the wastelands beyond the city as a way for the White Baroness to start exacting authority over the more wilder portions of the world. The Rangers function as a branch within the Iron Legion's structure, meaning they have their own Officers that fit within the general rank of the army. However, Ranger Officers only have authority over regiments of Rangers rather than universal authority of command.
      • While being depicted as riding animals, Iron Legion Rangers are trained to utilize speeder bikes as well as animal mounts.
    • Iron Legion Officers: An on-ground command structure is necessary for any army, and the DuProcelen Iron Legion is no exception. Officers are present on both the field and in the command center coordinating the efforts of the Iron Legion as mediaries between high command and the troops. Due to being in positions of command, there is not as many of them compared to the common soldier, yet they are the most numerous in terms of commanders within the Iron Legion's ranks. They are distinguished by their uniforms as both to continue the image of the Iron Legion, as well as be recognized to all troops within the Iron Legion. One would have be totally ignorant of military tradition across the galaxy to not be able to recognize an Officer of the Iron Legion. The common Officer will only have auhtority of command over those in the soldier branch, while the other branches in the Iron Legion will have officers specific for their branches so that troops are lead with a clear command structure that is capable of doing the tasks needed of that given branch.
    • Iron Legion Generals and Admirals: These are the most elite commanders in the entire Iron Legion. Executives within the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation are expected to fulfill these roles, as they are given such authority. However, an Officer can also be promoted to such a rank as well from the ranks of the Iron Legion. Additionally, new recruits moved to the Iron Legion that were of such a rank previously may be given this rank as well upon joining the Iron Legion through either the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation or any affiliated government in the galaxy. Generals and Admirals are placed in charge of whole fleets or armies within the Iron Legion's structure. While in present day (as of this post), there are hardly any of such a rank due to the small size of the Iron Legion compared to other militaries in the galaxy, this position will likely grow as the Iron Legion grows. They are very recognizable as a means to distinguish themselves from the Officers. With how recognizable the lower ranking Officers are, the Generals and Admirals will stand out even further, as both a means of recognition for respect of the position and a means for intimidation.
    • Iron Legion Supreme Commander: This is the title given to the executive head of the Iron Legion. It is typically expected that the CEO of DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation will hold this title as a means to ensure discipline among the ranks of the security force, as well as synergize corporate structure with Iron Legion command structure. Thus, to become the next CEO of DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation, one must have military training under the apprenticeship of the sitting Supreme Commander/CEO as a means to groom a replacement fit to both run the company and the Iron Legion. The Supreme Commander is the most destinguished position in the Iron Legion with the unique uniform allowing whoever wears it to be recognized accordingly whenever on the front with the soldiers of the Iron Legion rather than in the corporate conference room.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
For years, the Eternal Empire ruled over the Unknown Regions, as well as parts of the Outer Rim. While a junkyard planet before, the Imperial occupation on the world of Lotho Minor during this time saw great development come to the world in the form of industry and shipping hubs. Much of the criminal elements on the world were cleaned up in the areas surrounding the Imperial garrison, particularly the one city on the entiere planet. However, during this time of Imperial occupation, it was still a frontier world of the Eternal Empire, and prone to many of the dangers that come from that. Not necessarilly from space, but the fact the planet had not been fully civilized. Beyond the city, there was an entire world of junk covered wastelands that lay totally untamed.

After the collapse of the Eternal Empire, the Baroness of the world, Admiral Katherin DuPorcelen, became the one source of authority from the Eternal Empire's remnants on the planet. As a strict woman of military and discipline, she took great effort to preserve the shred of order on the world. She made her company based on the planet the equivalent of a dictatorial government. She assimilated all garrisoned troops into a private security force for this corporate dominion as a means to keep the city secure. Meanwhile, she began conscripting refugees that came from other worlds from the former Empire's territory, as well as civilians living in the city. It was this time that the DuPorcelen Iron Legion was born.

In the years of Katherin's tyrannical corporate and military dictatorship over Lotho Minor became more and more established, with the protective military being named the Iron Legion in full and equipped as it is in present time (as of this post). The army was equipped with armor made in different fashion due to materials accessible at the time, but within the standards of the Eternal Empire's military. The new uniforms were desinged to remain in the specifications of the overall Eternal Empire's military, but made in a way that can terrify the hardened criminals and outlaws of Lotho Minor and allow the soldiers to not be bothered at all by the nigh-toxic climate of the junkyard world.

The gas masks allowed for just the goal of intimidation and hardy suvival of toxic conditions. Meanwhile, it is the body armor, as well as the helmet, on the given uniform that offer the more generalized protection. In the present times (as of this post), the DuPorcelen Iron Legion has gained a hard reputation among those that know of it. Ships operated by the DuPorcelen Logistics Corporation are likely to have seen the Marines of the Iron Legion, while those who may have come to Lotho Minor may have seen its Troopers heavy-handedly carrying out the law in order to preserve order under the White Baroness' draconian rule over the planet. In the space controlled by the Empire of the Lost, the Iron Legion is used as an army to deploy in areas where more conventional soldiers may prove ineffective, whether it be due to the local population or local environment. The Iron Legion's disciplined brutality makes it a great force for the newer Empire to use as a means to clean up the most criminally infested worlds, or worlds with the most hostile of environments. They may not mesh incredibly well with the conventional troops of the Empire of the Lost, but certainly complete their missions effectively. However, if the Iron Legion gets deployed to a world by the Empire, it is a sure sign many people on the enemy side are going to die, and only those who do not take part in resistance would be spared from the its brutality.
