SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Quite fast, especially for a vehicle of its size and type.
  • Well-armoured. With decent armour, the Iron Ghoush can resist all but the most special infantry weapons and its speed makes it difficult to target in open areas.
WEAKNESSES
  • The Iron Ghoush relies on conventional propulsion rather than repulsors, which makes it less flexible than a hovercraft. As a result, it is more vulnerable to traps and less effective in hazardous terrain, since it cannot float over or around obstacles.
  • Not the most agile or manoeuvrable compared to other vehicles of its type. Moreover, urban terrain and dense forests are obviously an issue because there is less room to manoeuvre and less visibility for the vehicle crew.
DESCRIPTION

Speed, mobility and manoeuvre have long been the hallmarks of Qadiri warfare. The Qadiri art of war has been based on a complex interplay between infantry, cavalry and Force-using warriors. Riding the fearsome Yazgid lizards, Qadiri Cataphracts and Sipahi have been a potent tool in the arsenal of Mirzas and Shahbânus. But warfare never remains static, and contact with their supposed human 'saviours' - in truth colonial masters - has compelled Qadiri armies to advance with the times. Not the least to preserve what freedom their people still have, and throw out the foreign occupiers and their lackeys.

Of course, one does not go from gunpowder artillery and Yazgid cavalry to galactic warfare overnight. The Veldstrider represents a middle tech set of transports. Relatively easy to make, maintain and rearrange. The vehicle utilises power cells combined with wheels, which works well across the plains of most of Amikaron and a fair amount of Khajwar, the main Qadiri homelands on Tygara.

Weapons can be cycled between options. The vehicle has been nicknamed the Iron Ghoush, named after a common beast of burden on Tygara. Ironically, the vehicle was designed by Firemane for its colonial troops of native auxiliaires. It has since been appropriated by Qadiri Sepoys who have joined the rebellion to overthrow the corpo tyrants. They just need the parts and materials, they have engineers trained enough. They reprocess the captured stuff until they can make their own. Take the engine from something and put it in something else for a time. Through smuggling contacts and raids, some of these vehicles have ended up in the arsenals of the Shadow Knights, a group of Eldorai and Tygaran exiles whose nomad fleet opposes Firemane.

The Iron Ghoush relies on conventional propulsion rather than repulsors. This means it is less effective at traversing difficult terrain such as water, mud and rubble than a hovercraft, but it is rugged and durable. It is best deployed in reasonably flat terrain and roads. A dual turreted laser cannon or a missile launcher able to be loaded with variable warheads provides strong support against light vehicles and entrenched enemy positions. Though well-armed and armoured the Ghoush is no match for a main battle tank in combat. It does feature a spiked tow blade at the front though. This weapon is perfect for mowing down Firemane lackeys, and the occasional callous mistress living in an opulent villa and stealing from the people.
