SETTING INFORMATION

  • Structure Name: Iris IV

  • Classification: Power plant

  • Location: Deneba

  • Affiliation: IMF

  • Accessibility: Access to the station would be relatively difficult. It is located in a fairly rough mountain range, along with the lake beside it being for most parts a dumping grounds. Several landing pads are located within the facility itself, along with access to it through one road which has at least 2 security barriers before they come anywhere close to the site, along with a reinforced fence surrounding the remainder of it apart from a large gate, guarded 24/7.

  • Security:

    [40x] Z2-MCD

  • [40x] X1-CWD

  • [50x] Z1-NMD (Maintenance staff)

  • Various other sentient staff (maximum 10)

[*]
Description: The facility was an abandoned research facility, with the majority of research being done here involving hydroponics. IMF converted the entire facility to give it a fresh modern look. Most important to note is there are no open platforms through which sentients are allowed to access, any access to the exterior of the building apart from the employee parking lot is strictly prohibited and are guarded at all times. Exits to the exterior apart from the parking lot are behind barred fire exit doors which only open should there be a fire alarm triggered.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Primary communications tower - Located just east of the facility is a communications tower. Given its relatively remote location, this is the only means of contacting the facility without literally knocking on its door.

  • Nuclear power plant - Located in the main courtyard of the facility are a range of nuclear power plants. Each contains numerous amounts of reactors, and feed into a central system to feed the energy network of Deneba and other on-site facilities. Surrounding this is a light layer of rad dampening shielding. The entire building is encased in concrete and should only be accessed by droids.

  • Industrial sized batteries - Located roughly 50 meters below the surface is a set of industrial sized storage batteries for excess energy production. Should the power fail from the main reactors for whatever reason, the stored energy from these can be used to supply the network for a limited period of time.

  • Waste disposal tubes - Around 12 tubes all feed into the centre of the lake removing bi-products of the power generation process.

  • Water purification tanks - Given it would be quite dangerous to just leave the waste sitting for centuries, IMF also implemented a water cycle which would artificially suck up water and remove the waste products, placing them back into storage tanks to be shipped off. The bi products are then re-used in whatever way possible to keep the facility running. Some can be sold off as various products to other nearby factories.

  • Central control tower - The only real place where sentients are allowed to habit. Controls security, readings of the plant’s processes etc. This entire section is separated off with other necessary facilities, such as canteens and exercise rooms, mind you the treadmills are a few years old.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

After some elaborate discussions including being offered to kiss a Sullustan, Natalie secured the facility for free for IMF. Unfortunately, she missed the catch of it being completely abandoned and the interior being flooded, costing her more than what the property would have been worth new. Prior to the acquisition, Iris IV was a military aquatic weaponry research facility, developing small warships and platform based weaponry for whatever government controlled it. It fell into disarray following a particularly harsh period of cut backs where most of the staff were laid off, eventually the remaining transferred to work in different branches. Following a water pump failure, the facility was flooded and moss grew on the exterior due to lack of maintenance. Local wildlife used it as a habitat, though these were cleared out following the 'purchase'.

Most remnants of it being primarily a research facility were cleared out, the interiors of structures being cleared and sold in an effort to stop austerity measures when it became, for the most part, abandoned.

Sorry for the slight delay, it's finals week and been a little crazy. Anywho, my confusion stems from you classify it as a power plant when you also mention it was a research facility for hydroponics and then state in the historical section it built warships and combat platforms. Expanding the historical section to explain how you converted this place into a power plant might help.
