STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :
(+) Seyugi Dervish Training
  • Combat Skills: Seyugi-trained unarmed combat plus additional training in ranged weapons make Irilan a good all-around fighter.
  • Stealth: Trained in the art of infiltration, sneaking and speedy quet movement.
  • Knowledge of Neuro-anatomy: As part of Seyugi training, Irilan studied the location of the central nerve clusters of many species in order to inflict more damage.
  • Intelligence Gathering: Observation, deduction, and other means and methods to gather covert information
(-) Anachronism: Having been frozen in carbonite for over 800 years, there are still gaps in Irilan's understanding of current geopolitical and social matters, as well as technology.
(-) Mental Ilness: Side effects of both the physical nature of long cryo-sleep, and the trauma of waking up almost eight centuries out of time, has created some psychological and emotional damage that manifest in occasional erratic behavior.

APPEARANCE:
Petite in stature but rugged of build, Irilan's physique consists of lean muscle. Her skin is covered in scars, while one arm is entirely covered in tattoos. Her long black hair is typically tied behind her head in a ponytail or held with a band around her head to keep it out of her face.

In reality, Irilan could rival any holonet star or runway model in appearance, but such a thought doesn't even register with the woman. All she had known was being the best Seyugi Dervish she could. There there was the 800 years in cryo. Being lost in time seems to distract her from trying to impress anyone with her looks.

Therefore, Irilan takes little thought to her appearance. Her hair is usually unkempt and rendered out of they way by whatever means are at hand. Wearing makeup is unknown, its a good day if she happens to bath or even wash her race. Old clothing, some of it literally 800 years old, is all about fit and function. One last thing about her appearance, there always seems to be a gun on her somewhere. She loves them like a kid loves their teddy.

BIOGRAPHY:
Irilan was born on the planet Recopia around 50 BBY. Identifed as Force-sensitive, she was kidnapped as a youngling by the Seyugi Dervishes, a fanatic order of Force adepts that roamed the planet in giant repulsorlift barges. Raised in the tradition of the Seyugi, Irilan became, like many dervishes, an assassin for hire. She operated in the Mid-Rim, adhering to the tenents of the Seyugi and honing her craft.

Then the Jedi took notice. The Seyugi had spread well beyond their system in the core. The Jedi began to hunt they mysterious and deadly dervishes until they were considered wiped out. Shortly before the Clone War, several hundred surviving Seyugi returned to Recopia to seek refuge. They froze themselves in carbonite on a remote island, guarded by a small number of Mallif monks who kept the secret of the surviving dervishes, even from their fellow Mallif.

A few of these trusted monks gave in to wicked greed, and managed to smuggle one frozen dervish from the island and sold her to a powerful Hutt. Irilan was that dervish. She was freed from the carbonite in a galaxy 800 years away from the one she knew. The Hutt provided for her immediate needs, additional training as necessary, then tasked her as one of his thugs. Irilan, troubled by psychological effects of cryosleep and the mental strain of adapting to her new world, resented her role as the Hutt's strongarm. After that Hutt himself was assassinated (he should have had Irilan as a bodyguard) she took advantage of the incident and fled, freeing herself from her obligation to serve her deliverer.

Without fellow Seyugi, Irilan began to stray from the zealot traditions in which she was raised. Forging a new philosophy... she came first above all else. She wandered, sometimes almost aimlessly. She didn't know how to do anything but fight, kill, it was what Seyugi were, it was their religion. Irilan found more satisfaction using her skills in the apprehension of bounties. Someone with a bounty on their head had to do something wrong to earn it, right? But her pursuit of one tenacious bounty lead her to the edge of Wild Space, and right into the teeth of an Bryn'Adul invasion. the devastation was hard to fathom, and in the midst of her desperate escape, Irilan realized there was a cause, there was a purpose she could find in the epic struggle going on around her, and the catastrophic wake it left. Could she put her nefarious skills to the work of good?

PERSONALITY:
Irilan is in near constant internal conflict. Instilled in her are the dark ways and intention of the Seyugi of whom she had been for most of her life. Her 'resurrection' has lead to a moral dilemma with the discovery that her comrades and their philosophy are all long dead. Irilan's moral compass points to a more 'gray' perspective, with confusing occasions of feeling the desire to do good. She respects the need for some order, laws, code, even a form of honor. In the end, Irilan does what she does for the good of herself. A job is done according to the requirements given. Harm is restricted to necessity, nothing personal inserted. She can be quite amenable, even to a target. She resists using powers which draw upon the Dark Side of the Force, out of fear of slipping further into the Dark. Her behavior can at times be erratic or unusual due to psychological pathology, and can also suffer from panic attacks from flashbacks.

Irilan's circumstances have made it difficult to form relationships, though she desperately desires them. The sense of aloneness is overwhelming at times, and her methods of coping vary widely.
