STRENGTHS
  • All Around— The Invector-class has a sufficient amount of speed, armaments, defense features, and support from its complement, to challenge ships in a similar size bracket.
  • Slave-Rigged — The Invector-class has a slave circuit system installed which saves a significant amount of labor from operating the ship.
  • Targeting System Jamming — This ship can use the erebus jamming array to jam the enemy's targeting systems and conceivably decrease the accuracy of long-ranged barrages.
  • Anti-Missiles — The Invector-class was equipped with a medium-ranged missile deactivation transmitter which provides the monitor frigate the ability to misdirect some incoming missiles within a ten-kilometer radius around the ship.
  • Communication Detection — The Invector-class was equipped with technology that allows it to detect communication activity within a twenty light-year radius. The Invector-class can narrow in on the location of a transmission source down to a light-month.
  • Communication Interception — The Invector-class can intercept communications within a twenty light-year radius. Included in this ship is decryption software which can allow the signal intelligence department onboard to decode some encrypted messages.
  • Communication Jamming — When the ship enters the orbit of a planet it can use onboard equipment to inhibit holocommunications coming from and to the planet in question. Working in conjunction with similarly-equipped ships, the Invector-class can bring this feature to a space battle.
  • Communication Retrieval & Forwarding — This ship was equipped with a powerful processors and communication systems which allow the Invector-class to both receive and forward large volumes of communication traffic.
  • Difficult to Trace — The Invector-class was equipped with a location scrambler which increases the difficulty of triangulating the location of this ship through its communication activity.
  • Probes — The Invector-class comes with a complement of twelve Skyeye Probe Droids which can be launched to investigate nearby planets.
WEAKNESSES
  • Exposed Bridge — The command bridge of the Numerator-class is located inside a tower structure which is an easy target for enemy harassment.
  • EMP Weapons — The Invector does not have adequate resistance to weapons or natural phenomena that cause electrical disturbances.
  • Slave Rigged — Because a significant portion of the Invector-class has been automated, this ship has increased vulnerability to Slicing and EMP weaponry.
  • Optimal Jamming Range — The the erebus jamming array operates best when the enemy ships are at a far distance. As the enemy draws nearer, the array's effectiveness at misdirecting enemy fire correspondantly decreases.
  • Misdirected Missiles — The Invector-class can unintentionally cause damage to nearby friendlies when using its missile deactivation transmitter.
  • Dorsal Firing Arc, Anti-Capital Ship — The heaviest weapon emplacements of the Invector-class are situated on the topside of this ship, which leaves its ventral area vulnerable to exploitation from opposing capital ships, since the Invector-class lacks the ability to return fire from below.
  • Maneuverability — The Invector-class is unable to swerve away from fast moving objects, like an asteroid, or a last-ditched suicidal run.
  • Exposed Rear — The Ion Drives of the Invector-class are exposed and lack armaments to deter enemy harassment from behind which leaves this part of the ship vulnerable to exploitation. If an enemy is able to knock-out the ship's engines they could leave them stranded or a sitting duck in a battle.
DESCRIPTION

The Federal Cooperative received a contract in 801 ABY from a consortium of sectoral governments to create a series of frigates. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the Federal Cooperative decided to base the new class on the Vindicator-class, an antiquated design from the Sienar Fleet Systems. Aside from slight differences in their dimensions, a significant source of difference between the new hull and the Vindicator-class, would be the incorporation of a reconfigurable ventral frame to allow interchangeable modules to be rapidly replaced to extend the shelf life of the ship hull.

The consortium of sectoral governments wanted the Federal Cooperative to develop three variants: 1.) general purpose frigate, 2.) surveillance frigate, and 3.) missile frigate. The Invector-class would fulfill the role as surveillance frigate. The design team would install multiple communication systems, partitioning a subsection of the hangars to dedicate toward mainframes designed to provide the ship with the capacity to engage in signal intelligence activities. With their remaining hangar space available, the Invector-class could either operate independently with their starfighter escort or serve as an escort ship as part of a fleet.
