Introductions on Kashyyyk

Kashyyyk
Silver Jedi Settlement

It had been only a very short time since the Silver Jedi Order had relocated to Kashyyyk. The settlement was still filled with construction equipment and loose boxes. Housing had been built into the trees and every compliment was being given to respect the local customs and natural beauty of the planet. The home of the Wookiee peoples.

The Jedi Temple was not yet completed either. Thusly, Jessica Matthews had invited two of the newest recruits to the Silver Jedi, [member="Reggie Faayare"] and [member="Lasky Rynn"] , to accompany here through the Tree Gardens. A meditative wooden vista. High up in the luxurious branches of the Red Mako Trees.

Today Jessica wore her adventuring gear too. A dark bodyglove suit with a teal puffer coat. The perfect attire for a wild jungle planet. Now. All she had to do was enjoy the green lofty heights and wait for the boys to arrive.

Location: Somewhere on Kashyyyk, making his way to the Tree Gardens he was invited to

It had been a while since Lasky had seen a place as beautiful as the Silver Jedi settlement on Kashyyyk. He loved the Wookiee people and everything they had provided for them. He wasn't very dressed for the environment, because after he dumped his old armor he had nothing. A green jacket and a black sort of 'bodyglove' that wrapped around him and his lower face. A cool headband he'd found, and some poorly treated hair, white as the snow on Hoth. He woke up in a quickly pitched and small green tent, far away from the others. In the tent he had a lantern that burned out in the middle of the night, a small blaster pistol that he wouldn't be needing anymore, and some gauntlets for whenever he decided to use them.

He then got ready for the day, folding his sleeping bag and placing it on his pillow. After doing so he ate some breakfast and watched a beautiful creek flowing calmly before him. He was ready for the day. He exited the tent and zipped it up, walking atop the tree's branches to the meditative location he'd been invited to by another Master within the Silver Jedi. He had no idea what he was going to do, for he had no training at all, and just found out he was even Force Sensitive. The only thing that could've led him to thinking he was force sensitive was the natural shield that formed around his hands to protect himself, however he was still very weak with it and it only protected him from the common scum of the galaxy. He thought of this as found himself a branch or so above where he was told to meet the other two. Here he saw no one, assuming he was early, so he took a seat on the branch and admired the view. Maybe he'd surprise the others before they'd arrived.

Ever since Reggie arrived on Kashyyyk, he has been overwhelmed with how beautiful it was. It was definitely different from his home planet Tatooine in every way and he loved it. He was looking forward for the day ahead of him, so he quickly made his way to the Tree Gardens. He wore a brown shirt, brown pants, and boots. Simple clothing for a simple man. When Reggie made it to his destination, he didn't see anyone around.

"Am I early?"

Reggie looked around, searching for his two companions. He came to realization that he didn't know who else would be joining Jessica and him, but it didn't bother him. He was always ready to meet new people. He kept his eye out for anyone in the area, not knowing that [member="Lasky Rynn"] was just above him.

Jessica exited the small hut she had been in. Looking around she saw [member="Reggie Faayare"] near the archway and goodly [member="Lasky Rynn"] keeping look out in the branches above. Ha. She smiled and tucked her colorful helmet under her arm. Time for introductions then,

"Mister Rynn. Do please come down. There is somebody I'd like you to meet."

She gestured over to Reggie,

"Lasky Rynn. Please meet Reggie Faayare. Another newcomer to our fine settlement of Silvers."

Giving them a moment to introduce themselves, she continued,

"Welcome to Kashyyyk, gentlemen. I am Jedi Master Jessica Matthews. One of the thousands of Jedi Knights who now call this mighty planet home."

She gave a slight nod of her head,

"So. Are you two ready for your first class on Jedi Philosophy? I trust you've had some time to settle in, hmm?"

[member="Jessica Matthews"] | [member="Reggie Faayare"]

Time flew by, and it appeared he dozed off on top of one of the tree branches. He was still just a young kid, but he didn't like being called that. He was startled awake by the sound of a very soft voice calling up to him and saying:

"Mister Rynn. Do please come down. There is somebody I'd like you to meet."

After stretching his arms for a bit, he hopped down to the surface branch after branch to where he was finally standing next to the two, looking up at them both with a wide grin on his face, although it couldn't be seen because of the mask stretching to cover his face. He listened to the very kind and fair-skinned woman as he introduced him to the other fellow standing across from him.

"Lasky Rynn. Please meet Reggie Faayare. Another newcomer to our fine settlement of Silvers."

He waited for her to finish introducing him to the other before keeping it simple and speaking:

"Howdy! I'm Lasky! Nice to meet you, Reggie!"

After introducing himself, he held his hand out for a handshake, as if waiting for approval. Behind him the woman continued by saying:

"So. Are you two ready for your first class on Jedi Philosophy? I trust you've had some time to settle in, hmm?"

With this answer, he couldn't contain the inner kid walking around with him.

"Oh yes! I'm ready to get started please!" he shouted, displaying his excitement for learning about this topic.

Seeing Lasky jump down from the branch surprised Reggie since he had no idea that the young man was around. The greetings that he received was welcoming, which he appreciated. Reggie felt that him and Lasky would become good friends.

"Its a pleasure to meet you Lasky!"

Reggie shook the man's hand, trying to match his grip. As Jessica spoke, Reggie's already radiant smile became more vibrant. He could finally learn more about the Jedi, something he's always wanted to do.

"I'm ready as well!"

"Excellent."

Jessica smiled and turned to place her helmet down on a bench. The lush Tree Garden area was the perfect area for learning about the Jedi after all. It had a perfect view of the new almost-completed Temple too.

"To begin. A little history. Following the Great Darkness that destroyed most of the galaxy. The Gulag Plague, as some now call it. We had to rebuild civilization. Many of us started on Coruscant years ago. Around 835 modern. There a group of ambitious nobodies united the Core Worlds in an alliance that we then called The Galactic Republic."

She talked with her hands under the great green trees,

"Here. In the Republic, a group of Force Sensitives refounded The Jedi Order on their ancient homeworld. Tython. Lead by Grandmaster Teferi Effret and later Grandmaster Ben Watts. This Jedi Order created a new library on Tython too and began uncovering the lost secrets of the Jedi Knights from hundreds of years ago. We discovered names of ancient Jedi Knights. Names like, Luke Skywalker, Obi-won Kenobi, Ulic Qel-droma, Revan, and many many others. Including their philosophies and codes on Jedi living. In fact, many of their Holocrons, or diaries, still exist to this very day. The year 851 modern."

She paused to raise a finger.

"Our Order. The Silver Jedi Order. Was the first Jedi Order to break away from the Galactic Republic many years ago. For, the Jedi Order of Tython had been leaderless and steeped in galactic warfare for far, far too long. Like many of our Jedi brothers in today's Galactic Alliance faction? Far too many of the Jedi had become bloodthirsty warriors. Dedicating whole Jedi war fleets to the destruction of the Sith Empires and beyond. The Jedi struggled to find themselves. Sacrificing our duty as peacekeepers to becoming powerful reavers of destruction."

Jessica paused again and pointed to the new Temple located far, far below.

"But that was just the beginning of the troubles for the Silver Jedi Order. For though we lived in peace and prosperity out in the Outer Rim of Voss. A new Sith Empire, lead by the Immortal Necromancer Kaine Zambrano, eventually found us. Slowly crushing our northern border planets to pieces."

She sighed,

"That is why we find ourselves on Kashyyyk today, young initiates. Because the Silver Order is an order dedicated to peace. Not to the eternal fires of the Darkside's galactic war machine. Here. Among nature. We hope to live in peace and learn the true ways of the Force. Just like the ancient Jedi of old."

...

Jessica smiled and picked up her helmet again. I guess the time for history lessons was over.

"So. With all that in mind. Maybe one of you can tell me something about the Jedi now. [member="Reggie Faayare"] . [member="Lasky Rynn"] . I'm going to ask you a question. What do you believe a Jedi is?"

[member="Jessica Matthews"] | [member="Reggie Faayare"]

He watched as the wise Master taught some history on the Jedi, where they came from, how they started and all. From the very beginning, really. Most other subjects bored him, but this one.. This one intrigued him and drove him to learn more. He dozed off into deep thought but was snapped back into reality when she asked the both of the initiates a question:

"What do you believe a Jedi is?"

Lasky thought for a moment as multiple images flashed through his head. Trying to piece together the correct way to voice his opinions, he eventually came out with:

"Well, I've heard the Jedi are selfless, but I've not met that many to judge to order has a whole. Not including the Grey Jedi and Dark Jedi I've heard some about. But I have a question, do you know for sure the Sith are bad and all that, or do you only think so because of a few of their actions? Sorry, I'm just not sure. I've never encountered a Dark Jedi or Grey Jedi or Sith, really."

He said, wondering if he voiced his opinions properly.

Reggie made a mental note of the names and terms that were mentioned in both the lesson and Lasky's questions, hoping to do some of his own research if he ever found the time and leave room for keeping an opened mind. He realized that he had a lot to learn, which made him even more determined. The information awakened his curiosity, especially the term "force sensitive". He didn't know what the word meant, but it caught his attention for a reason that he would find out sooner than later.

Now, answering Jessica's question wouldn't be hard considering what beliefs he had from the stories his parents told him since he was a child. Even though Lasky gave him questions of his own, he still kept his beliefs.

"Well my answer is simple. The Jedi are a symbol of hope, the healers of the galaxy, and warriors against dark forces......as you said, the Jedi are peacekeepers. A Jedi heals, protects, and when necessary, they battle. Keeping peace in the galaxy is the goal of the Jedi."

Jessica nodded her acceptance to both of their answers.

"Well done. Though, it does appear that both of you require much more bookwork before we can continue. History is one thing. But understanding the basic terms and sciences behind the Jedi arts? That might be the perfect place for you two to start."

She then turned to [member="Lasky Rynn"] ,

"To understand the Jedi and the Sith on proper terms, young Master Rynn? You must first understand how they gain their power."

She held up a finger and nodded,

"The Force is the energy field that connects all life in the galaxy. People who are born with the ability to interact with this energy are called Adepts or Force-Sensitives. Indeed. These special few have learned remarkable ways to interact with the Force to draw out it's powers. This is where the idea of good and evil come from. How these Adepts summon and use the Force. This is the secret of good character. Choice."

She paused,

"As you grow up and mature, initiates. You will begin to discover that it how you choose to live that will define what you are. Not your name, nor your title, nor even the size and scope of your abilities. In fact. There is nothing ever stopping a Jedi from choosing to be evil. Indeed. There is nothing stopping a Sith from choosing to be good. Because the Force doesn't not make us do anything. We summon the Force."

Again, she nodded.

"Suffice it to say Lasky that labels are just labels. However, here in the Silver Jedi. We summon the Force through peace, meditation, service, hard work, and a charitable heart. And we believe that makes us Jedi. We believe that is how we can best serve the Force."

...

Jessica tapped her helm and nodded. It was already time to start closing up class. It was obvious [member="Reggie Faayare"] and [member="Lasky Rynn"] needed many more hours in the Jedi Library before they would be ready for their next class either. Mmm.

"Okay then. Anymore questions for today?"

[member="Jessica Matthews"] | [member="Reggie Faayare"]

He nodded as she explained and answered their inputs and said that more answers to all of Lasky's questions would require more time in the study of the new Jedi Temple that was being constructed right before his eyes. Architecture and bringing up buildings was always one of his favorite things to watch or help out with... after staring off into the distance he snapped back into reality out of his daze, hearing the ending of one of the Master's sentences:

"Anymore questions for today?"

After thinking for a bit, digging around in his mind to try and come up with some questions, he came up with nothing. No questions at all. He did very much enjoy the sort of 'lore' session behind the Jedi Order and where they started and where it all came from. The history of the Jedi kind of drove him to learn more, which he might do once the new temple is complete.

Reggie couldn't believe what he was hearing. A energy field that connects all life in the galaxy....the force. He wanted to see the force in action, he wanted to understand the limitations of it and how a person summons it, and he wanted to know if he himself was force sensitive. On the other hand however, the thought of a Jedi being evil made Reggie's stomach turn. Even so, his determination did not change.

Reggie had a new goal: Learn what the force can do, try to summon the force himself, and study what it can do. He knew he had a lot of work to do before he could travel the galaxy and help the people residing in it. Reggie had many questions to ask, but he wouldn't hold them up with all of them.

"Yes. Could you show me a demonstration of what a person can do with the force, or will that be in another session? Also, you mentioned the names of different Jedi and also many different terms......are all these things archived with us? I would like to start doing research on a lot of the things you mentioned, if that's alright."

Reggie got so caught up in everything that he didn't even take into consideration that the Jedi Temple was still being constructed, and felt embarrassed that he asked for permission to do research instead of offering to help. This will be a home to him like everyone else here. His desire to learn more got ahead of him sometimes, which is something he needed to work on.

"I mean, I would like to start after the Temple is finished being built.....sorry, I got ahead of myself there."

Jessica had forgotten that [member="Reggie Faayare"] still hadn't taken the meditation class yet. Oops!

"Sure thing Reggie." She smiled.

She held up her hand and snapped her fingers. Instantly her whole hand was coated in bright orange flames. A fire that danced with every subtle twirl of her fingers.

"This is a conjuration effect of the Force some of us call, Pyrokinesis. It works better with salt rocks though. Honestly, I never could get the hang of it without them. Hehe."

She dismissed the flame and nodded,

"And here. I think since the Temple Library is still under construction? You two deserve to have these datacrons."

Jessica withdrew two small pyramid boxes from her coat pockets. They were both about the size of her palm.

"Plug these into any computer and you'll have access to most of the public Library Records. These are the versions we give to the Antarian Rangers. So don't mind the military stuff too much. Hehe."

She handed both [member="Reggie Faayare"] and [member="Lasky Rynn"] the small black pyramids.

...

"Okay then. Class dismissed. I still think both of you should study a bit more. Then probably start taking a basic class about Meditation or Force Skills. Mmm. ...Anyway. You're free to go adventuring now. I expect you'll have a chance to meet many Jedi Knights and Antarian Rangers in the days to come. And yes. Naturally, help out around the Temple too. Hehe."

She waved the newcomers away with a bow,

"And may the Force be with. Always."

*ooc: These datacrons now give your characters access to anything on Wookieepedia. The Star Wars Internet Wiki. So feel free to have them learn and study at whatever pace you two feel is awesome. It's your story. Do it your way. :D

Reggie. I'll start a class for us about meditation tomorrow. Cheers peeps!
