Interview with a Concubine [Circe Savan]

Appearances and first impressions were important. They shape the way you think about a person, that person will either prove your first impressions to be right or wrong. Simone was very rarely wrong, though that had something to do with the fact that she had gathered information on a person before meeting them and knew that her first impression when meeting them was also backed by the mountain of reports she had read about them. Circe Savan was doomed really, marked never to find her way onto Simone's friends list.

Yet when a Sith Lady with a fifty million credit bounty on her head invites you to interview them you do not let such an opportunity slip past you. The Ugly Duckling settled upon the landing bay on Malachor V and Simone slowly shut the systems down, a small smile on her face. Rising from the pilots seat she swept through the ship, pausing in her quarters to smooth down the pink dress she wore. Snatching up her datapad and activating one of the holocameras she moved to the top of the landing ramp. The holocamera hummed at her ear for a moment before moving out and pointing its receptor towards the door leading off the landing bay to record here welcome.

A droid maneuvered on its way towards the modified freighter that had just landed. Maneuvering ever closer to the woman, it paused, the mono-eyed head looking the woman over. "Welcome to Malachor V. Lady Savan has been expecting-" the droid suddenly froze, then seemingly rebooted.

"Sorry about that... These droids aren't that smart, after all. This is an SVD-97 Surveillance Droid. I designed it to hunt down cloaked hostiles. This one's been repurposed as a greeter for special guests. Please, follow him. I've set a lot of nice things out for your arrival."

The droid motioned for her to follow, then turned around, walking back towards the Trayus Academy's entrance.

Simone's eyebrow arched at the droid. She had expected something more for a welcome party, but then Simone wasn't a celebrety or anyone of importance. Glancing at the holocam she offered it a shrug before following the droid into the Academy. "Circe Savan has been the center of much angst from all corners of the galaxy. Her list of self proclaimed enemies is longer than my arm and uttering her name in Republic space might aswell be taboo."

The camera moved ahead of her, its photo-receptor fixed on Simone's pink face, the enthusiasm for this meeting was glittering in her eyes. "I'm at the Trayus Academy today to find out what the woman has to say about matters herself. With a fifty million credit bounty on her head, she's been dubbed by the wonderful presenters of 'Battle for Democracy' as a dangerous criminal." She quickened her pace, moving past the camera which moved behind her, continuing to film. She could edit the footage later before broadcasting it.

The droid would lead Simone inside the Academy, where a variety of apprentices were training in the arts of Sith sorcery. Many of them stopped, however, and looked at the news reporter who walked in. They did not do anything to her, however, allowing her access to the Trayus Core - the central meditation area and where Circe herself currently was located. Standing up from her seated position, she smiled , coming over and offering her hand to the reporter.

"Hi, Simone! Nice to meet you. Glad we could do this interview."

Whatever reservations Simone had, they were hidden from her face as she offered Circe a smile, accepting the extended hand and giving it a small shake.

"I couldn't resist, Lady Savan." she replied "To let the opportunity pass would have been a crime, your name is well known across the galaxy after all. Though not necessarily for the best. Is there something in particular you wanted me to cover?"

Nothing specific, was just looking for an interview. I would appreciate an opportunity to respond to the Republic and OP's latest damning documentary, as well as some questions about the bounty. I have some particularly special information I feel the public should know that clears my innocence in the matter."

Well, she hoped it would. if the entirety of the Republic watched this and believed her, maybe the Chancellor would be forced to drop the bounty.

Simone offered a polite smile. The evidence stacked against Circe lied with those who spke against her. One voice, cannot fight the voice of many. Still it was worth a shot, and it would bring attention to Simone. As yet, she was undecided if that was a good thing or not.

"Documentary?" she replied tilting her head and frowning slightly "you mean the 'Battle for Democracy'?" she chuckled and shook her head "With respect, Lady Savan, you were merely a topic that was discussed. No one has yet broadcast a documentary about you." You're not that important she thought to herself. "Besides which, the program is biased and blind to the truth, I am dedicated to unveiling the truth for all to see."

"Do you have somewhere we can sit?"

@[member="Circe Savan"]

"Indeed I do. We have private chambers for discussion. Please, follow me." She led the Zeltron through the maze of quarters to her private room, a pair of seats and a desk being the first things visible. "Please, take a seat. As for the documentary... It's not so much informative as it is traditional Omega Protectorate and Republic propaganda. Their Chancellor has done a remarkable job at performing a massive smear campaign of the Empire within his territory. In many ways, he's similar to some previous Emperors, such as Voracitos."

A serving droid came in with a plate of finger sandwiches and shot glasses filled with a variety of non-alcoholic drinks. "Care for a drink?"

Simone didn't even glance at the droid. "Just water please." she replied courteously as she settled into a chair. She clicked her fingers at her holocamera and point to a space close to them, that would allow it to film both of them fairly close up. "Lets start from the top, shall we?" she mused, scrolling through the data pad in her hand.

"This isn't the first bounty to be raised against you. If my sources are correct one was raised a few months ago by Baktoid Industries. I understand the bounty was pulled. Perhaps you can elaborate?"

@[member="Circe Savan"]

"Indeed. Well, a while back, Alli Wren and I were in a relationship. Being that I was in a polygamous marriage with her and Jak Sandrow for a bit - coming from a Zeltron mother who saw monogamy as a quaint concept - made her angry, so she desired to kill me. However, after we met and exchanged a few words, she left and got extremely drunk. In fact..." She smiled, pulling out a datadisc. "If you're interested in taking a look, I have a copy right here."

Not blackmail. Entertainment. Sometimes Circe would look at it and laugh. Other times, she would cry. It was her fault that she had done such a thing, after all.

Simone did not take the datachip, she didn't even look at it. "Fascinating." she lied "So, what you're saying is that the last bounty was risen because of a lovers tiff? A little drastic don't you think?"

@[member="Circe Savan"]

"Alli is a very emotional person. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometime's that isn't. It's my fault that she did such a thing a she wasn't ready to be polyamorous. But isn't she in a relationship with the former Vice-Chancellor and that Jedi Master who killed a bunch of Republic personnel on Metalorn?"

She sighed. "What made things worse was the first iteration of the bounty."

Simone perked up at the mention of Matsu Ike. "A shame that you relationship ended in such a way. Are you referring to Matsu Ike? The republic recently cleared her of charges for the incident on Metalorn and she's serving the order once more. Now considering the damage she did, i find it interesting that the republic would not only clear her of charges, but send her into battle again, on manaan, if my sources are correct. Putting her incident aside, lets look at the most recent charges against you."

She looked down at the datapad in her hand, crossing her legs as she did. "Charges include war crimes, rape, kidnapping and attempted genocide." she brushed over the others, they were insignificant in her mind. "As an known enemy of the republic its to be expected that you're marked for war crimes but rape and attempted genocide? What is your response to these accusations?"

@[member="Circe Savan"]

"The Republic marks everyone on the other side with war crimes, even if they've never committed any actual crimes. They'd probably put a stormtrooper through a military tribunal just for the heck of it."

"Anyways. Attempted Genocide... The story about this charge goes all the way back to the attack on Endor by the Death Watch. See, I had captured RC 212, their leader, as retaliation for his strike on one of my company's picket corvettes and freighters. In order to assist in using him as a tool, I moved around Endor in an attempt to capture the Dreadstar, a Venator-class Star Destroyer. However, a group of Ewok pirates had sabotaged its power core, blowing the ship up and killing those attempting to board, including several dozen of my employees. I ordered him to find the pirates and raze their installation to the ground - but instead, he massacred a village and brought me back pelts of innocent Ewoks. Later, I found out what he'd done, but by that time he'd escaped my custody, and everyone was blaming me. I did get help from a Force specialist friend of mine, though. She gave me a holocron containing the way things had truly happened."

Pausing, she sighed. "Unfortunately, she made a datacron copy of it as well. When I was near-death, an Omega Protectorate personnel member mentally raped me and found the person who had made my holocron. They then forced the person to hand the datacron over and passed it off as a holocron, tampering with it to make me seem responsible for the Ewok Genocide. And I've been hounded ever since. As for the rape accusation - Ven? Are you around?"

The question was practically unneeded. As Chief Enforcer, and lover, of Circe Savan, the mad merc was always at the ready, and had been standing just a few feet outside the door. Upon mention of her she gave a little nod, took a breath, and stepped inside. For the most part her expression was blank, except for a little hint of her affection for the Vinithi before her. "Yes darling?" She said, walking slowly over to her companion and sitting next to the woman. Compare to her she would seem rather large, Ven being over six feet tall and all. But she was a... gentle giant, most of the time at least.

Simone blinked, studying the giant through her smile. The holocamera moved out slightly, whining as it did. Simone had more questions on the genocide from, but the introduction of this woman that she presumed to be Circe's lover put a spanner in her works. "Hello, Ven. What is your relationship with Lady Savan?"

At first Ven waited, wondering if her lover wanted to say something first. When a few seconds passed without words been shared, she turned to the interviewer and gave her best smile. "Employee, bodyguard, chief enforcer, and my personal favorite, girlfriend. We've known each other for quite some time, and I can honestly say I wouldn't be alive if she hadn't helped me. Because of her I went from just a poor mercenary to a happy woman. I love her." Now the merc was blushing, and quietly reached out to hold Circe's hand. Everything she had said was true. Without Lady Savan, there wouldn't be a Sekairo of the Hapan line left.

Ugh, how cliche. A love story that began with a rescue. Simone did not want the details. "And how long have you been in her service for?" she asked, politely while wishing she had a bucket to throw up in.
