Kiff gave a devilish smile towards [member="Kaden Farr"]. The man had gotten the rules of the game, close. But he had missed something. . . important. "Almost there, but you're forgetting one thing." He shook a pair of six-sided dice in his hand, the small chance cubes iconic to anyone who had ever visited the lodges of Vandor. They were engraven out of some ornate metal, probably the most ornate pair of dice Kiff had ever seen in Sabaac. "We aren't playing your high-end Sabaac. This is rough-and-tumble Corellian Spike."

He gave a sort of insider's joke wink towards Kaden and Daisy, as if they were in some sort of inside joke with him. Continuing to look at them, he set down his cards face down, their values and chances at winning the round already. "At the beginning of each round, put two chips in the game pot and one in the sabaac pot. At the beginning of each round, two cards will be dealt to everyone." Kiff tapped his cards, still face down. "Now that everyone's hopefully looked at their cards, we can go into the fun phase. I'll bet however much they want. Kaden, on my left, can see my bet and raise, 'let' or pass, or junk his cards and be out for the round. Once everyone's rotated in this order, then we'll deal the 'spike' card and a second round of betting will ensue. The thing is, you have to keep you 'spike' card facing up for the world to see. Once we're done betting, everyone reveals their cards, and the closest one to zero wins the game pot. If you have exactly zero, you win the sabaac pot and the game is over."

Finished with his small speech, Kiff tapped his cards as his brow furrowed and he pursed his lips, as if in concentration. He stole a look towards [member="Haastal Verd"], evidently worried -- or intrigued -- by something in the Mandalorian. Kiff wasn't here to lose money. "I'll bet fifteen chips," Kiff finally said at length as he pushed the colored chips into the pot, setting down his cards as he turned towards Kaden.

"As far as I know?" Scherezade half asked with a shrug. A lot of groups within the Confederacy tended to stick mostly to themselves, and from what she'd observed, this was true for the bits of the Defense Force, which included the navy. It sort of made sense, she supposed. The overlaying group types were Force Users vs. non-Force Users.

As Alden said he'd have to go and find his own crowd, the joke was entirely lost on the Sithling, who was focusing on reaching forward through the Force. Nothing to attack or make him feel intimidated, but simply the smallest of licks to check – yes. Force User. That explained why he wasn't with the Navy crowd, maybe.

"Most people do," she answered, still not realizing he'd made a joke, "they don't particularly come up to speak to me at all unless they need something specific."

Noticing the pressure on his own arm increasing with each passing moment, Argis smiled looking across the table to the woman. He had been able to tell from her scent that she was a force user, but nowhere did he expect this much strength from one who appeared human. His arm budging slightly due to the shock of meeting such opposition. Argis began putting strength into his own efforts to push the woman back.

Dashade exceeded even wookies in terms of strength able to shatter boulders with their fists, but not wanting to break Kurenai’s arms Argis did not go to such lengths. The table that bore both their elbows groaned in denial. If it could speak it would’ve possibly been begging for the two to carry their competition to a reinforced table. Cracks began to form beneath their elbows as the pressure grew.

“If you had asked nicely, to begin with, I would’ve been more than accommodating.” Gradually increasing his own strength Argis would let it press against Kurenai.

More shots were slid across the table, and Calixte took them as they were slid her way and upended them. The liquid burned like fire as it slid down her throat, but the curly redhead didn't seem to care, and it certainly didn't stop her any. She did hiss through her teeth, and make a noise in her throat as the third one hit the pit of her belly, but other than that she was still plenty good to go. However, while she was keeping up with the drinks, she was falling behind with the conversation.

Grey eyes lifted from the empty shot glasses to first the women seated along side her, then to the man who had joined them. She squint just a little bit, trying to recollect pieces of the conversation from her memory since she had been present for it, just not paying close enough attention, clearly.

Something about the language, pretty girls? No, that was from earlier on. And then the redhead leaned so that she could take up the graciously gifted bottle of alcohol and pour another round. "Well, he's about to be two behind, if he doesn't hurry along." Ah there it was, right back into the flow as if she hadn't missed a beat. Once the shots were poured, she took up her own, but didn't toss it back just yet. "As for being a third party for date night?" A slender brow was arched a smirk tugged at one corner of Cali's mouth. "I don't know that I could get a better offer."

Naedira thought imagery, even rudimentary, might resonate more with Centaris than simply trying to explain her past. It wasn’t as if she’d had the same terrifying story that many in the Confederacy had endured. It was nowhere near that which the man before he had gone through, and yet, pain was pain. It wasn’t something that could, or should, be measured. Naedira had created a path she could follow with impunity. She followed the Darkside. She followed the Vicelord. It gave her purpose.

It let her lie to herself, just enough, so that she could wear a mask of normalcy.

She glanced up from her drink when Centaris finally did speak and her expression remained quiet. What is broken could not break? It was a nice thought. But, if she was alive and breathing, there was always something new that could be broken. She just had to be strong enough not to let that happen. Not again. Never, again.

At any rate, she understood the sentiment, and slowly nodded her head. Her cheeks felt warmer than they had before and the Knight noted that her reaction time was already compromised. Hopefully, nothing would go wrong on this cruise where she would need to shoot a blaster. Despite her reservations about the quote itself—She understood.

The game went on. Though, she could hardly call it a game when she was learning more about Centaris now than she had since she‘d first been assigned to his detail on Eshan. The young woman had seen what he was capable of. She’d never forget the way he bent the Force to his will, but, now she had more comparisons to make. He was a soldier, a survivor, and quite similar to her in many ways. It just took patience and time to see it. The words he spoke about his father…She expected it. “Do you know what he named you after?”

She forgot, likely due to the drink in her hand, that they were taking turns. Her curiosity rolled over the rules and she rest her elbow on the table so that she could rest her cheek in her hand. Alkor Centaris. It was an interesting name, easily, as different as her own. She brushed lengths of auburn hair over her shoulder and then suddenly seemed to remember the game at hand. She smiled, and her lips curved, forming a rather mischievous expression.

“You didn’t ask me my question…”, she grinned slowly, “Does that mean I win?”

Naedira smiled at him, nose crinkling a little bit, before the protocol droid came back to refill their drinks again. She was trying to remember how many they’d gone through. How many shots fit in each mostly filled tumbler? She wasn’t quite sure. Either way, Centaris looked fine, so they couldn’t have had that much yet. It was about then that she realized, more or less, that she wouldn’t really want to be anywhere else.

Centaris was…Centaris. Alkor. But, he was her partner. No one elses.

He stared into his glass as he listened to her. He did know. He had been reminded at M'haeli, and the memories that followed had sat unwell with him since. When she asked, he grunted. It was a strange thing to ask, but then, perhaps in this situation it was less so. "A guiding star," he responded quietly. "He was a spacer. In love with freedom, my mother told me, but nothing else. So, when she asked him to name me, he thought of the first thing she might like, and I suppose that was it."

Alkor took a sip of the whiskey and realized he could no longer taste it or feel the burn. The full effect of his strange, dark sided immunity had set in, and the poison burned off before it could touch his system in any meaningful way. It caused him to sigh unbidden.

When she rested palm in cheek, his gaze flicked to her once more and he finished the contents of his glass just in time for the Droid to bring refills. Was she smiling? Gods below, what is she planning?

He blinked. "Does it?" he asked. "It was your game, so you'd know the rules better than I do."

Alkor leaned back in his seat and drank longingly at the whiskey, wishing for a single instant of complete nothingness. Again, the darkness denied him. Why is she smiling like that?

"If you want to stop drinking, that's fine with me," he added, slightly concerned.

The smile on the Zabrak’s face was unreadable, as he joined the game, flicking bets to keep the pot going, winning some pots and losing others. The amount was really of importance to the Red Raven, considering how his legal companies cleaned all the dirty money from his illicit operations. Instead he was rather enjoying the ebb and flow of luck at the table, as much as the rest of the table.

He would pay attention to their stories, encouraging them to share experiences, hopes and dreams, and unless any one was actively asking him something, the direction of conversations would be turned towards them.

To most of them he would appear to be rambling businessman, rich in credit and bored for tales of excitement and intrigue, out for a night on the town. Or so it would appear on the surface.....

The comment from the big blue giant earned a slightly sarcastic scoff from the women as things started to heat up. "Nicely? what do I look like, some fancy smanchy diplomat"? True, she was more then capable of asking in a polite manner, if this was any other venue she may have even gone about proper formalities to set up a competition, but once again alcohol had wash that part of her personality away. Along with that lack of good manners left any sense of safety too, the cracks in the table and increasing resistant in her opponent not fazing Kurenai one bit.

As the battle became more contested her physical limits target to reach their limits, she was strong, but simply could not compete with the mans shear size and weight. It soon came time for the force to be involved, the mystical powers enhancing her already super human strength, pushing harder against the opposing hand. Unfortunately with great power comes great responsibility, the table underneath shuddering more, each seconding bringing the piece of furniture closer to it's destruction.

“Hmmm, now that you mention it. No, you don’t.” Going along with the flow of the conversation and contest Argis glanced around to see others had begun to gather and watch the contest of strength with bated breath. Credit chips were passed around between the drunken denizens as they tried to decide who the winner would be. Grimacing at the needless betting Argis was partially tempted to give up just so those who had started the betting pool would possibly lose a lot of money.

The decision came near as he felt the opposition of Kurenai pushing against his own arm once more, her intentions bolstered by the force itself. So she wished to cheat? That solidified Argis’ decision. Looking at Kurenai no longer through his eyes Argis saw her through the force. He saw her glow, an intermingling of lights, darks, hard for the Dashade to pin down where she stood. Her body through his eyes fractured and he spotted one of those weak points everyone carried within their body. Much like a Corusca gem all it would take is enough force to break it. Muscles along his right side tightening and rippling the Jedi flexed one last time, leaning his body into the push against Kurenai’s own. No restraints as he’d slam against her to completely dislocate the woman’s arm.

Naedira was quiet for a long moment while Centaris explained the name that he had been given. A guiding star? That wasn’t what she’s expected, but, from someone that could so easily be summed up as a spacer? It made sense. Her hands held her face up while her elbows remained on the table. It was far from ladylike. Her mother would have likely boxed her ears. But, Nikolina Darcrath, wasn’t here. Nor were all of the politics that her side of the family seemed so content to endure.

“One who is rare and hard to find.”, she offered up, moving a little, so that she could point at herself. Her parents had been different than his. A romantic tale. They were sill together, still raising hell, by driving every conservative member of her family insane. No one could understand why her mother had chosen someone so deeply entrenched in the Darkside. Considering her own tendencies as of late…She could scarcely blame the woman. “Precious.”

It was laughable. So precious, that she could be thrown away as easily a broken droid.

Centaris sighed and her head tilted. Out of all the questions she had asked, he’d barely flinched, but out of nowhere he seemed…Changed. Her smile remained regardless though. It was effortless, that of a pixie, or some other creature that seemed to live for tricks and mayhem. “…Is something bothering you?”

His concern rolled off of her back like water and she waved it away sweetly. He was right though, she did know the rules better, and since he was still drinking, she supposed she’d match him to make it fair. As he took a sip, question or not, so would she. “I don’t give up that easily.”, she remarked teasingly, though, if she chose that moment to stand—It might have painted a different story. Naedira could hold her liquor, as promised, but there was only so much she could take.

She didn’t realize that Centaris was barely bothered by it. In fact—Were she of a clear frame of mind she might have noticed that he seemed entirely sober.

“You get skipped, then. Let me think…”, she trailed off, nose scrunching uncharacteristically cutely, before she finally landed on one. “You never think about…Being more. About the future. You are content in the life you lead—Because you think it’s all there is.”

Or, that it was all he deserved. She had seen…Pieces. Parts. Little things that led to that frame of mind before and after Eshan. It wasn’t the most poignant question, but, she was saving the best for when he finally started looking a little piqued.

Teyr was not baptized by fire.

The Minister of Commerce's plan had worked – spectacularly. After months of hard work, the tourism industry of the planet Teyr was restored, with people pouring in from all the edges of the galaxy to enjoy all the wonderful things the planet had to offer.

The party put together to celebrate it had gone amazingly well. Not a single fight had broken out that evening, even though one member of the Knights Obsidian ended up with a broken arm. The breaker of her arm received a wonderful gift of twenty thousand credits for winning that arm match, providing he would not come to the planet again for at least another six months. Of course, when the deal was struck, none had a clue that he would be dead long before that half a year was up.

In the Mandalorian corner, where the ladies of the Mando'ism were having their drinking competition, joined by a single Obsidian Knight, no one actually won. Their livers were made of things that lasted longer than the party did, and while some of them would most likely awaken with a hangover the following day, none had the time to actually lose and bow out. As such, the fifty thousand credits that no one had told them would be in store for the drinking competition, was donated. Or at least, that's what the paperwork stated.

The game of sabaac… Well. The Confederacy might be the pinnacle of technological advancement, but it appeared that explaining the basic rules of a simpe gambling game was too hard of a challenge for some of the Confederates, and just trying to get them to understand how it all worked took up the entire night.

Elsewhere upon the barge, people danced, conversed, and celebrated. Perhaps not all of them had something specific to cheer for, yet it was clear that night, many of them had gathered together in harmony.

When the vessel returned to shore, all Confederates gingerly stepped off, most of them with wide smiles plastered on their faces. The night had been a magnificent success, and would be remembered by all those who had not gotten too drunk.

With a final shake of the hands, Teyr was once more a successful planet, and would from here on enjoy the financial protection of the Confederacy, as well protection from any of those who were silly enough to think they could take it over.

It was sudden, sudden and to the point, the strong flex and pop followed by pain swimming through her arm as the big blue man rotated his arm enough to dislocate her own. It was a feeling of pain that would make most people yell out or at least show some form of emotion, even discomfort. For Kurenai, no such outward appearance could be seen, even her mind was calm throughout the table shattering, her eyes apathetically looking towards her bent out of shape arm. "Hu, I guess you win... oh well maybe another time then".

With her left hand she gripped her right shoulder, working it around a bit before violently shoving and twisting it, a small pop signaling that her limb was back in place, a few stretches and finger bending securing the deal. "Ya know, you is a strong guy, perhaps we could duel sometime, ya know when away from a party". No doubt the bartender was going to draw the line after the two had blown up one of the tables, "what people call ya round here big guy"?
